Look, if SJM wanted me to believe that the intention of the intervention was a benevolent choice on behalf of the IC and her sisters, because they care about her and they were worried, then, and I cannot stress this enough, she should have written it that way.
People try to argue this all the time, you know, and whatever–you have your opinions, but I am not convinced. You can’t tell me that it was necessary and then have Nesta have no withdrawal symptoms, no back and forth, no deep temptation, some great inner turmoil of an addict. If she doesn’t have any of this than the IC and Feyre and Elain look bad, because they took agency away without the reader contextually having known that they tried anything else that was meaningful.
You can’t tell me that they care for her and then show me quite a few scenes where they outright say they don’t or don’t say anything at all. Caring has to be shown not said, where are the scenes where I am shown patience, empathy, compassion? If there is none, than the IC and Feyre and Elain look bad. Feyre and Elain worse because they are her sisters and therefore obligated. The entirety of the Feyre vs. Sister’s conflict is based on obligation. Feyre doesn’t look as bad because we know that conflict with Nesta, and we also know from acofas and mentions in acosf that she has tried at least more than Elain, though not well or effortful–inviting her to parties or to decorate is not effortful. It makes Elain look tremendously unsupportive, because we know that she does nothing. This is something I wrote about in a long analysis but never posted. Maybe one day.
You also cannot tell me this is a healing arc, but then frame the situation that Nesta’s healing is not more important than taking accountability. Someone’s second hand suffering is not more important the person who suffers, especially in their own POV. You can have both at the same time, but you can’t fix the effects without evaluating and accepting the cause. That’s basic.
The way I see it is that people keep trying to argue this blank grey area that was in between acofas and acosf–that “oh Nesta must have been difficult, if it resulted in this. It must have been warranted and if it was then the IC was justified because she was suffering.” It doesn’t matter. You have no proof. You have only what has happened in acofas, and what was briefly mentioned in acosf of what happened in between. The argument at the barge. The blanket statement of pushing people away, drinking, sleeping around. A moment with Elain, I believe, and the fact that Feyre asked her to decorate and gave her a tour of the house. But that’s it. Those are cause for concern but not enough for an intervention.
What is obvious is that after the intervention, Nesta doesn’t have withdrawal symptoms and only thinks about drinking once. She starts a sexual relationship easy and that is not at all criticized. She is stuck in a house she can’t easily leave, but she does her duties. She is used many times, a few of those times being argued by her as not wanting to do it. We have blatant scenes of characters saying that they will use her no matter what it takes. We have very little scenes with the others that are not in direct relation to her power/skill of dance and games and using that power.
So and I can conclude that if SJM wanted me to see likable, benevolent characters, I should have seen them. If she wanted me to see nice familial relationships being built, I should have seen them. If I don’t see these things in the book that I am reading, currently on the page, they don’t exist. It is not some people in the fandom reading things a certain way because they have biases, it’s that if it doesn’t convince people, ***it wasn’t convincing.***

But is it really?
What if everyone got Nesta’s powers wrong. What if her power isn’t death? What if her power is life or revival. Now hear me out:
Nesta essentially dies going into the cauldron to be reborn into something new.
Nesta helps Gwny and Emerie on the path to reviving the Valkyries
Nesta starts the whole the Illyian warrior techniques and combining them with the Valkyries successfully starting a new age of female warriors
Nesta get’s the priestesses to start training, coming outside for the first time. Their trauma caused them to be sheltered, disconnected from those outside the walls of the library but training gives them their power, essentially their lives back.
Nesta in a way revives Gwydion or Narben by creating Ataraxia. Something old becoming something new?
Brought back made objects into the world
She awakened the harp,
Gave life to the dead in the Bog
She brings Nyx back and stops Feyre and Rhysand from dying.
She brings the House of Wind to life.
All the imagery of dusk and dawn surrounding her in ACOSF. The old sun dying ang giving away to the new sun, reborn and vice versa for the moon. I mean how many stories out there are there about the sun or the moon dying in order to be reborn.
Maybe the silver fire that burns cold is because it is meant to represent the dead still burning with a flicker of life, like a candle slowly dying, losing its heat, Nesta could feel death encroaching. Nesta’s power is something old becoming something new. She would still have a connection and ties with death because in order for something to be made new it would first have to be broken. She couldn’t quite explain it but the sense of sudden dread, the feeling that something bad was going to happen. The cauldron was where all life first happened, In the beginning there was only darkness so what if Nesta took the darkness that life ended up being born from.

Every day I tell myself not to check the Nesta Archeron tag and every day I do it anyway and find stuff that I wish I could unsee..  we have the old “Nesta is abusive” argument that I thought we had left back in 2020..then we have “Gwyn’s story didn’t need Nesta and she already kew Azriel because he saved her”.. honey if Nesta hand’t been there Gwyn would have stayed in the library, she wouldn’t have become a Valkyrie and she never would have seen Azriel again.. and finally “I would have been happier to see Cassian develop a relationship with an Illyrian female, like Emerie”.. umh Emerie is gay.. and Nesta is Cassian’s mate..

So this is the same person who wrote that all nesta stans are trump supporters and meanwhile writes shit like this. As if this isn't just using your privilege and power in any way that suits you and apparently when you are a powerful leader (trump) no rules should apply to you and you shouldn't worry about any consiquences like the rest of the people. Honestly stop being so damn hypocritical

ACOTAR Series - Nesta Archeron
She took something - something precious. She ripped it out with her teeth… What came out was not what went in… How the winds moan her name. Can you hear it, too? Nesta Nesta Nesta.

@n-a123-love not sure what you were trying to say in the replies, but I was agreeing with your post lol. If it was my tags it wasn’t directed at you, it was probably a reaction to sth else in the nesta tag that I thought prompted your post.
It’s been four books and a novella, and some of you are still pressed. Nesta lives your heads rent free. You can not convince me that your not obsessed. A bunch of sad cases 🚶🏾‍♀️

I believe that you're for me, I feel it in our energy, I see us written in the stars. we can go wherever, so let's do it now or never, baby, nothing's ever, ever too far.
glitter in the sky, glitter in our eyes, shining just the way we are, I feel like we're forever every time we get together but whatever, let's get lost on mars.

Lucien went on a quest to find Vassa to the mortal lands alone, despite knowing it was a risky and dangerous task.
Lucien sounded like an acolyte talking about Vassa and proceeded to blush on being teased by Feyre about her.
Lucien wanted Vassa to stay longer and was finding loopholes to ensure that.
Lucien chuckled while spending time with Vassa. He was relaxed, he looked happy and interested like never before.
Lucien visited Vassa often enough and was aware of her opinions and thoughts.
Lucien moved in with her and said the “the manor is ours” when asked about it.
Lucien’s eyes sparked, his lips twitched when he talked about Vassa, showcasing his amusement and interest in her.
Lucien was considered biased towards Vassa by Mor and Cassian. They claimed his reports will always be in her favour.
Lucien's face was pained on seeing the flames in Vassa's eyes, realising that her time to turn into a firebird was near.
Lucien reassured Vassa that she is safe, and Vassa relaxed as a result of it.
Lucien set Koschei as his target for all the pain he made Vassa go through.
Lucien talked about Vassa and Jurian sharply and Nesta wondered the reason behind his tone, but was unable to read it.
