The Dhampyre in Teyvampt!

- Dhampyres or Dhampires are the products of vampire x human couples. The vampiric traits of a Dhampire can extrend several generations, but a first generation dhampyre has the more vampiric traits.

- One half set of fangs, top canines only. Dhampires second gen and forward have no venom to heal their bites like full vampires do. First generation dhampyres often *do* have this venom, but it has been known to skip on occaision.

- Dhampires observe almost all the gifts of the common vampire, but at the price of a life span of one 2 to 4 times that of a human (depending on the traits they inherit), and no inhuman transformation aside from one exception (See The Warm Vampire). Dampires can live up to 400 years at the longest. First gen dhampyres age like typical vampires (1 vampire year to 5 human years), with visible aging stopping somewhere between their mid twenties to late 30s in human years depending on the individual. Second generation and forward dhampyres age at the same rate as humans up until their twenties. At that point their aging slows to the same rate as their vampire peers and stabilizes somewhere between 25 to 45 depending on the individual.

- Second gen and forward dhampyres are seen as lucky, suffering none of the typical vampire weaknesses, only human ones. For this reason, some vampires see dhampires as dangerous, fearing they may reveal them or cause another dark age.

- First generation dhampyres however, are fairly beholden to a typical vampire lifestyle, albeit they can go a month with out consuming blood.

- Often times a Dhampire (especially second gen and forward) can have no clue what they are. Depending on what traits they inherit and how much they know of their family, they may think themselves fully human. This illusion tends to disolve once their peers start to show their age but the Dhampire continues to look like a young adult for far too long.

- A typical Dhampyre rarely has an inhuman transformation, but can often times have chimera traits of the animal they would have been able to transform into if they had be a full born vampire.

One notable exception of this is The Warm Dhampyre. Common in the event of a first gen multibirth (twins, triplets ect- though it is observed in single births of various generations, albeit rarely) the infants can sometimes observe different traits. In the event of a diverse multi dhampyre birth, one or more of the infants will be a typical Dhampyre, where as the other will be what is known as a The Warm Dhampyre. These dhampyres appear, for all intents and purposes, almost completely human. They are warm like humans, need no blood to survive, and have very miniscule fangs. They do however, still posess the extended life span of a typical Dhampyre. The Warm Dhampyre is the only sort of dhampire to always have an inhuman transformation, usually some sort of mundane night predator animal. Bats and cats are the most comon. The inhuman transformation of a warm Dhampire will almost always be the same animal that their sibling(s) hold chimera traits of.

(An example would be if lyney and lynette were dhampyres, lynette could be a typical dhampyre with kitty chimera traits, then lyney could be a warm dhampyre that can transform into a cat.)

Bites and Vampire Substance Lore

- All pyre-kind aside from the warm Dhammyre need to consume blood to survive, albeit at different rates.

- Vampires, and some Dhampires posess a venom they can use when biting to relieve pain during the bite, and heal the bite when they are done.

- Pyres will more often that not pin their donnor down, in order to prevent tearing of the puncture wound should they fidget. This pinning is not for forced donations, using it to force a blood donation from a human can land you up to life in prison if you get caught.

- A pyre's eyes will shift when biting. The pupil will glow and the iris will darken around it, allowing them fantastic night vision. This is a result of simply being a historically nocturnal people. You sip your breakfast, it wakes you up. Zing.

Seeing it as an asset to hunt unsuspecting prey in the dark is frowned upon to say they least, and a very common sentiment amongst the shattered as well as a propaganda of the hunters.

- If all is properly taken care of, a bit should not hurt beyond the initial puncture. Most human donors will feel a sense of relaxation, even sleepiness. Like the most intense interactive asmr yuotube could never host.

For this reason many humans who are privy to vampires will openly donate blood in a symbiotic realtionship.

- A lack of blood can have some adverse side effects on a vampire not getting enough to drink: (See the following passage from gen lore to learn more)

Adult vampires do not need to sleep, aside from cases of illness, exhaustion, injury or simply wanting to sleep. Adult vampires that are not getting enough blood however, will often fall prey to tiredness and slip into a human like sleep cycle.

- Many vampires will use non blood means to extend the time between their next bite. High sugar foods to increase blood sugar, caffiene to make the blood flow faster through vein dialation and alchohol to make the blood thinner for more blood flow are all common means.

(Fun fact, caffien dialating your veins and alchohol making your blood thinner is why mixing the two can be dangerous irl! stay safe!)

- Pyre kind do in fact eat human foods. Rare is the vampire that subsists entirely on blood alone. Think of blood like an extra macronutrient category. It is needed for a pyre to keep their own blood cell count up.

- the safest place to bite is widely regarded as the trapezoid muscle, with the meaty part of the hand coming in second place. It is plenty to bite down on, and satisfies the desire to be towards the neck with out endangering a major artery. Biting at the neck involves a large amount of trust between donnor and vamp, and is often regarded as an intimate act much like a smooch.

- pire-kind will sometimes share blood. If it is easier for one to obtain blood, they may let a fellow vampire bite them shortly after they themselves drank in order to share the blood they have obtained. Some codes are harder to follow, so this is a fairly common way for vampires and dhampires to look out for each other.

Vampire Hunters and their tools

Some Humans decided that the Vampires were a threat to them and decided to take it upon themselves to hunt down the creatures.

They discovered a number of tools that were effective against the vampires,

Garlic- Used as anesthesia on Vampires.

Dead Man’s Blood- Blood taken from a dead human. Used as a poison that causes pain to the vampire. Highly Effective against the followers of the Arch of freedom. Shattered and Unseelies are unaffected by this,

Stakes- Like most people, a stake through the heart will kill them

Decapitation- A surefire way to kill a vampire.

Graveyard dirt- Due to the holy nature of church graveyards, the dirt can be used to protect oneself or cause harm to vampires that are exposed to it.

Holy Items- Can be used as protect if a human is holding onto it.

Holy Water- Causes Pain and essentially allergic reactions to the vampire

Silver- burns the vampire and keeps them from healing as quickly if it is used in a blade form, especially effective against Shattered and Unseelie.

The Unseelie: Sprite born by a Damned Benefactor

- The unseelie is the product (not necessarily a biological child) of a Shattered Vampire. They resemble The Sprite in every way, but in an inverted sort of way with the Shattered "parent" taking the place of the arch. They are dark sprites so to say, with their forms taking a more grim air rather than a holy or soothing one like the sprite.

- Just as with the Sprite to the Arch, if the Shattered that made an Unseelie were to perish then the Unseelie would transform to take their place. This is not a voluntary transformation, but the Unseelie may be saved should they seek out sanctuary from an Arch to take pity on them.

- The easiest way to make and Unseelie Vampire is simply for a Shattered Vampire to turn a Sprite, much like an Arch would turn a human: A bite in reverse with the bitten receiving blood rather than being drained.

- The Unseelie, just as any other high echelon vampire, must consume blood to survive. However, unlike their Sprite counter part they have no supernatural code of conduct limiting their ways to get blood. Only their own concious and the Shattered that looms over their life.

- Many Unseelies seek to destroy their Shattered that made them, failing to learn that this would make them transform into a Shattered themself. This is a mistake that can only be healed by an Arch, Sprite or Devoted Vampire of high rank such as a head nun serving the church of Istaroth.

- The last and most tragic way to become a damned is for the Devotee to kill someone important to the arch or to kill the arch themself. This will result in the most hellish and cursed form, spreading to even their human form. Permanently marking them, whether it be scars, mutation or disfigurement. Many end up with all their teeth becoming some sort of fang, being the only vampire class to observe this morphology. These vampires are widely regarded as demons. Heartless monsters that can only be sustained by blood. They cannot metabolize mundane food. They are the individuals most often responsible for human killings. They, and their followers are the culprit for vampire hysteria and the dark ages. Despite their deformation they can appear to be some of the most beautiful vampires… even regarded as such because they are deformed. These are, tragically, the vampires most infatuating to humans.
