Finals are coming
With the end of the semester, make sure you study hard, but don’t forget to take care of yourself spriritually and emotionally and physically.  Take a 30 minute break, color, do something fun.
It sucks that stress is being poured on students, but remember to stay healthy.

So pumped for the start of a new year! Make sure to take care of yourself and be kind to your sisters if you are starting recruitment.  Recruitment is about lifting up those future sisters, not tearing women down.  LOVE TO SRAT WOMEN!

Let’s talk about Sisterhood
We all talk about how when someone asks what our favorite thing about being in a sorority is sisterhood.  Sisterhood is cannot be powerful as long as we tear each other down.  That means we come together across chapters, building each other up because we each bring something special to the table.  Each organization stands for something beautiful.  We are all sisters. Sisterhood is supposed to be that unbreakable bond we have with each other, focusing on our similarities and celebrating our differences.  Together, let’s make sisterhood mean something great again.

You know how there’s a saying about good guys finish last? I’m so glad that a great, genuine person like Jim Thome is in the Hall of Fame. He was such a hard worker and a great teammate. He’s the most genuine guy I’ve ever seen.

Why I need feminism
Someone shouldn’t say that being a man in my field “would help” me be more successful at relating to college students of both genders. What matters is empathy and kindness.

It’s a new semester, ladies!
Let’s show them that we can get the grades, succeed, and show them that we can do all of it while being on committees, maintaining sisterhood, recruiting new members, and being philanthropic all while looking fly as can be!!

Don’t say basic like it’s a bad thing
Since when has enjoying a particularly delicious drink from Starbucks or wearing the warmest comfiest boots been a bad thing?  Why, as women, do we have to defend our preferences? We don’t. So, call me basic all you want. It just shows how immature you really are, honey.

Sorority women are amazing and it’s time we got our credit
The world seems to forget that women in sororities do amazing things.  We’re in college and we are pledging ourselves to noble causes and raising money for important philanthropies, like Girls on the Run or Autism Speaks.  We work our butts off to maintain awesome GPAs while looking fabulous. People don’t see that. They just see what happens on the weekends when we let loose.  Many people forget that many notable women making changes in the world today are sorority women.  Ruth Bader Ginsberg, the supreme court justice, was a sorority woman, and she continues to fight for women’s rights.  So the next time you want to tell me that joining a sorority wasn’t one of the greatest decisions of my life and that you would never want to be that trashy, think about what we do.

I woke up in the middle of the night
last week at 3 am hungry for garlic bread.  This was a great annoyance to me, and I tried to tell myself that I was not hungry, but I wanted sleep.  Apparently, my stomach had taken over and needed garlic bread before it would let me sleep in peace.  So I walk downstairs to the fridge where thankfully there was a huge bowl of garlic bread there. I ate it and then returned to bed.  Now this is the story of how I wake up at 3 am every time we have garlic bread.

For way too long, I hid my pain beneath laughter, beneath layers of clothes, beneath excuses. I didn’t want anybody to be pulled down by my weight. I was convinced that nobody would be able to help me anyway or that I would just be cast away as being overdramatic or stupid. I had always been the good girl, the perfect daughter, the A+ student, and everything was spiraling out of control. I was afraid of who I was becoming, but I was so ashamed that I didn’t want anybody to know. I didn’t want to show how vulnerable I was; and after all, how do you bring up a conversation like that? How do you push those words out?
Leah Bartlett, “Be Brave. Use Your Voice.” (via twloha)
This is what I used to feel before I found hope and help in Jesus.  Shame is a dirty liar who tricks you into being less of the beautiful creature you are.  Jesus offers something better than shame, grace.

have weakened me. She says quietly…I have an idea…you wouldn’t have to do any of it anymore. ADHD and Anxiety stare silently; they are always shocked when Depression speaks. I look at Depression. I am silent too, hoping I will have the strength to fight back. Finally, I gather the courage to stand up and shout, “THAT IS NOT AN OPTION!” I walk away from the table, feeling a shaky confidence. I hope it lasts. I hope I do not sit down with them again in this way.
Steph P., When Everyone Sits at the Table (via twloha)
This is why I love and need Jesus everyday to tell me that I never have to sit at that table again and when I have days that I can’t shout, He does it for me and carries me away from the table.  How he loves us!

Being in love is a good thing, but it is not the best thing. There are many things below it, but there are many things above it. You cannot make it the basis of a whole life. It is a noble feeling, but it is still a feeling… knowledge can last, principles can last, habits can last; but feelings come and go… But, of course, ceasing to be in love need not mean ceasing to love. Love in this second sense - love as distinct from being in love - is not merely a feeling.
C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity (via wordsnquotes)
Love is a verb.  It is active.  Self love isn’t just a feeling.  This means you have to actively love yourself.  It is a daily choice to take care of yourself.  Be kind to yourself.
