A solid apology from the Watcher team, and a fair compromise.

Your Monday reminder that harassing diasporic jews won't free Palestine.
Also happy Passover, I guess.

Oh my god, once again reminding people that Jews in the SWANA region being scared of being murdered if Israel is dismantled are not comparable to white Americans and Canadians being scared of indigenous sovereignty. The entire world, and that includes Muslim countries, has a very very long history of violently expelling and brutally murdering its Jewish communities; Israel itself has many, many refugees and descendents of refugees from other countries in Asia and Africa, countries that do not want those people back.
The comparison to white North Americans is absurd, cruel, and ahistorical; the claim that Jewish people lived in happiness and peace and safety in SWANA countries before Israel's founding is a complete fabrication and blatant victim blaming. Many of the countries surrounding Israel and throughout the SWANA region have Jewish populations that can literally be counted on one hand and that isn't because people just abandoned their homes and friends and communities to move to Israel for funsies, it's because many of them were brutally murdered or expelled from their homes, with the rest fleeing out of fear for when they would be next.
I am saying this as a Native person who is 100% in favor of indigenous sovereignty in my home country and who is fully against the treatment of Palestinians by the Israeli government. If you cannot acknowledge how antisemitism is still very much alive and an active danger to Jewish people all across the world and how many people fled to Israel specifically to escape violence, then you really cannot have any sort of meaningful conversation about Israel.

Apparently they've backtracked on pulling all existing content, which is something I guess.
I still cannot get over the sloppy marketing here.
I need you all to understand that their entire vibe with this announcement completely undermines the image they built for themselves.
By having the streaming service up and ready to go at announcement time, instead of announcing as it was being built to include their fans in that process, they have told said fans that they don't need them anymore.
And really, even if people don't realize it, that's a big reason they're angry. The Watcher guys have always had this underdog vibe to them. Scrappy weird boys, and the way this was handled has really changed that for them.
The optics are crummy and tone deaf.
Get some marketing, guys.
As someone who has professionally watched people make dumb business decisions for the last 20 years, the Watcher subscription service raises a few red flags.
-They don't have a smart TV app available.
-They don't really have enough content to justify the price.
-Apparently some countries cannot subscribe due to credit card restrictions.
-They also didn't market this properly. I assume this has been in the works for a while. Charging money for your content when cost of living prices are skyrocketing and wages are stagnant isn't the happy surprise they think it is for their fans.
This should have been announced months ago, with a marketing plan to pitch this to existing fans as a good thing and to ease people into it. A couple months of "a reminder that we'll be subscription based only starting on this date and we can't wait to see you there. Here's what's going to make the jump worth it (pun intended) for you!" On new vids and social media. Instead, it's "surprise! We're taking down everything on YouTube in a little over a month and the site is already active byeeeee!"
Marketing wise, this feels intensely tone deaf and poorly planned.
Good luck ghoul boys. I'm interested to see if this sinks or swims.

Well fuck, now you've got me all teary-eyed.
I love you, Boxy. You are really wonderful, and a great parent and a great friend. I'm really grateful for our friendship. I'm grateful that you gave sushi a shot, and you taught me to make cheesecake, and a baller chocolate frosting for thar birthday cake we made for that one actor we probably like a little too much.
I'm grateful that you've listened to me lose my shit over the years, and to be able to help you.in different ways like you've helped me, and that you'll always be my friend.
Happy Sunday, babe. I love you!

What would Lenny be doing/wearing as an unintentional trap to Midge?
Doing the dishes in a frilly apron.
If the kids aren't home, he's not wearing anything but the frilly apron.
