On the contrary, the otherâs manâs kiss was far from unwelcome. Itâs that familiar touch that heâd long since given up upon, long since stopped imagining. It still elicits a warmth in Fengmian he didnât think heâd ever feel again. Rejecting it didnât come easy, it came from a wrong sense of duty, of knowing he shouldnât give in. So many had paid with their deaths, deaths now put onto his shoulders. Was there anything left of the man he once loved? Or was it just familiarity, his body and energy recognizing what his mind tried to forget. The hurt and anger wasnât only directed towards Wen Ruohan, but also to himself. For still being unable to silence affections that could only be considered an abomination. Unwelcome, tabboo, and came at a too high of a price.Â
The disappointment however, was all for Ruohan. He could have excelled in so much without the need for violence. There was a time he listened and valued Fengmianâs opinion, or so he thought, perhaps giving up on them had unleashed the last bit of restraints heâd had. That, indeed, is entirely on him. His marriage may have been arranged and loveless, but he had an understanding with his wife. In the end, she mirrored some of the worst qualities that reminded him of Ruohan more so than anything else. Their children however, were a joy to his heart. As were the sect disciples. He may have been an ignorant, flawed leader, but he did the best he could before the annilhating of the sect. Now all that remains was his life in the hands of someone he loved, still loves - but he doesnât dare admit it to himself or his heart.Â
ââBack then...ââ back then what, it wasnât as if Ruohan was wrong. ââWe were different people.ââ But he had regretted giving into his families demands. Into society. He had wondered many times, if he had not become sect leader, would he have been able to give in to those desires? Would he have been beside Ruohan, taming a violence that kept him on the good side of society, before things escalated? But what ifâs only made one unhappy in an already dreadful life. ââWhen is the violence enough for you? How many more have to die?ââ he had no delusions regarding his influence on Ruohan now, he no longer had the right to. He closed his eyes, because a man had only so much restraint when the otherâs touch is never wavering. When was the last time heâd felt that tingling on his lips, the desire to act upon it. Far too long. But be it pride, sense of duty or something else, or for simply not deserving it anymore. Not with so many deaths on him. Including the Wen Ruohan he loved, for he could hardly still be that man. Perhaps Fengmian clings to that, needs it to be true more then really believing it.Â

He listens patiently, offering no direct comment on Wei Yingâs attempt to reassure him. It is barely noticeable, but it is still there for those who know where to look; a hint of hesitation, the only sign that he does not fully believe him.
âMn.â He agrees, but he is more intent on hearing the otherâs thoughts. Letting Wei Ying decide. Following whichever new, curious idea has momentarily led to a new excited glint flashing in his eyes. The only time he will ever draw a line is when he feels like Wei Yingâs safety is not sufficiently guaranteed. Only because the other has a tendency to ⌠minimise the importance of that condition.
âIf Wei Ying feels uneasy, we can go back.â Simply put; he does not remotely care what the townâs people would think, only what Wei Ying believes is right.
He shook his head, though the pensive expression remains. ââIf they wanted our help they wouldâve asked. We dealt with the monster plaguing their streets, the rest of their secrets are their own.ââ But it made him curious none the less, given what had been exposed already.. just how much worse could they have had to hide? Then again, family secrets is something every family is known for. They are taken to the grave rather then shared with outsiders. Itâs not much different in towns, itâs socially agreed upon.Â
Still, he only mentioned his thoughts so Lan Zhan knew what kept him pre-occupied. Indeed, nothing to worry about. Not in the way his husband was no doubt thinking.Â
ââLan Zhan,ââ he adds with a wide smile. ââA-Yuan is becoming a little leader of his friends, have you noticed?ââ he chuckles. He couldnât help be proud of that kid.Â

Guess whoâs reading the official MDZS english translation ??? ITâS SO GOOD YOU GUYS CAN WE YELL ABOUT THIS!!
SPOILERS!!Â
Favorites moments from the novel Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation - a list:Â
⧠wwx going all 'i don't care if you don't care about your reputation, but I still care about mine!! I STILL GOTTA FIND A GOOD MAN!!!'' đ đ
⧠wwx going all 'i'm not interested in your type' at jc to anger him, jc asking him his type and then wwx thinking he's smart and killing two birds with one stone by saying ''Mmm, I quite like Hanguang-jun's type.'' and then being completely ???????? đ  no seriously lwj: ''as you say'' wwx: ''hmm?'' lwj: ''i am taking this person back to the Lan Clan.'' -> speechless wwx, confused wwx: ''...Huh?'' đ đ đ  THIS IS COMEDY GOLD I CAN'T.Â
⧠wwx's offense when they first call his flute music terrible, that thought 'Why don't you try not practicing for a dozen years, then make a crappy flute from some chopped sticks and play me a tune? I'll kneel if you can play it well!â đ đ
⧠wwx's antics to get kicked out of the cloud recesses, trying to fetch the jade token from lwj's sleeping posture đ falling ontop đ đ straddling, refusing to get off, also ISTG THE ART OF THIS đ but the best yet may be lwj retaliating and having him immobile and sleeping ontop of him the entire night. đ  and wwx's thoughts i can't đ đ
⧠legit all of wwx's thoughts are just PEAK COMEDY đ đÂ
⧠I quote: How could Lan Wangji skip the drunk step and go directly to sleep?! What he wanted to see was the ''drunk'' part!Â
⧠lwj's ''drunk'' part đ đ
⧠that moment when it's explained wwx didn't summon wen ning in front of lwj bc he felt embarrassed to due to how well lwj treats him and the lives from the Lan Clan of Gusu that had been lost at Wen Ning's hands.Â
⧠back to lwj being drunk. The 'other people slept after they got drunk, but lwj slept first and THEN was drunk' i wheezed so hard ngl.Â
⧠also lwj's jealousy in that drunk scene is just đ đ
⧠wwx unable to grasp lwj being able to retaliate to his antics now, the '... every time he'd wanted to tease Lan Zhan like he had in the past had ultimately become his own undoing. That shouldn't be!! Where had he gone wrong?' đ đ  wwx pls. PLS.Â
⧠OMG YES THIS ONE: JFM CONSTRUCTING THE SPINE OF THE KITES FOR JC AND WWX AND JYL PAINTING THEM đ đ
⧠also that part where wwx watches those kids play the sunshot campaign, with a little lwj and a little yiling laozu and everything, absolutely the CUTEST â¤ď¸â¤ď¸Â Â
But also can we agree the english translation in general is a BLESSING and IT'S SO, SO AMAZING ALTOGETHER LIKE â¤ď¸â¤ď¸

RANDOM MEMES (ALWAYS ACCEPTING) // @ofgoldentouches
Perhaps it was luck, that their children were out and about in town. They snuck out and very well, Wei Wuxian could've easily stopped them. . . but he figured they needed such experiences too, after all he'd done the exact same thing when he was their age. He had to admit the way they worked together and made a talisman on their own to get through the barrier surrounding their house was impressive, it alerted him regardless so there was room for improvement but, it got them through.
That same barrier is also what alerted him to Xue Yang's current state. Either that or he forgot to activate his talisman so he could pass through without worrying Wei Wuxian. He was already out of the door to meet Xue Yang half-way as he took in the sight. It momentarily froze him, halting his steps. He didn't just look terrible, he. . . shaking the thoughts from his mind, he was beside Xue Yang a half second later. ''You- can't you stop worrying your housewife for once!'' he teased, more so to rid himself of the fear grasping at his heart.
He helped Xue Yang into their home, luckily it wasn't as deep as he thought it was. He'll have to rest and take it easy, but he won't be in any life danger. Still, after patching him up and stationing him in bed, he gave the other a look. ''What happened?'' is what he asked, but what he was really asking is who managed to get him this beat up - and who will Wei Wuxian hunt down to give a clear message about what happens if this were to ever happen again.

"Wei Ying."
RANDOM MEMES (ALWAYS ACCEPTING) // @strokesofjade
His head turned, startled by Lan Zhan's voice. Though at the same time at ease as he realized who it was. Perhaps it was for the better, his own thoughts hadn't been all too pleasant. . and he'd been so caught up in them. But ever since their last night hunt, something has been bothering him.
''Lan Zhan,'' he smiled, though it was a weak effort. ''I'm alright, don't look at me like that.'' He adds. Aiyoo, at least that wasn't a lie. This time around that is. ''I was just thinking about last night, something isn't right. It was too easy, and the town's people were evading us. . . there must be more to it.'' But, could they do anything if their help was unwanted? Should they, even ?

The way Wei Wuxianâs face changes the moment he meets Lan Wangjiâs eyes. It hit him suddenly that theyâre about to go their separate ways, that heâs walking a path from where he wonât be able to come back. The way Lan Wangji wants to hold him back but he just cannot. It hurts.

Wei Wuxian had been confident about this bet from the start, though admittedly - he didnât think it would take THIS LONG. At first he just played some random melody on Chenqing, watching the sky above and enjoying the wind. But the more time passed, the more uneasy he became. Perhaps heâd grown too used to being back with his husband, that staying out while heâs RIGHT THERE was just. . torture itself. So close, and yet so far away.
But also, that brat !! Heâs actually asleep?! He must be, how can he not. . aiyoo, Xue Yang doesnât have the patience. If he were awake he wouldâve come to fetch him by now. Unless heâd actually upset Xue Yang with this bet, if he did then that man might be too stubborn to concede, no matter how badly heâd want to. And itâs that tortuous thought that worried him. That was driving him to the edge of just forgetting this stupid bet and joing him already.
But just as he tucked Chenqing to his waistband again, he heard it. Footsteps coming and just like that the tension faded from him, and that gloating, cocky smirk took hold on his features. He leaned back then, comfortably so, as he watched his husband open the door.Â
ââOh? So demanding . .ââ he tsks, but a chuckle follows as he got to his feet. Thereâs no reason to ever tell Xue Yang his own . . minor panic, regarding this bet. It seems he fret for nothing, given that he was right all along.
Once they were both in their bed, he moved into Xue Yangâs arms. ââDonât forget to keep your word, since you lost. Although . . donât think I wonât top you, since I know you want me to . .ââ moved his lips to the otherâs ear. ââJust know the Yiling Laozu wonât show any mercy, A-Yang.ââ

Knocked her knuckle against his forehead. âBeing troublesome again?â Both exasperation and a touch of amusement colored her tone. She did not believe that a day would ever go by where Wei Wuxian stopped.

That cocky smile remained, how could he not be gloating right now? It had worked, hadnât it. . . aaaandd then he was knocked on his head. âOwww ow, Wen Qing!â he dramatically whines, lips beginning to form a pout. ââWhoâs being troublesome? Not me. .ââ he mumbled, pretending to have no idea what she was talking about. ââ. . did you like the surprise though?ââ

Feet carry her to her destination with MINIMAL complaining which was bizarre, but she mostly BLAMED that on the fact that she was too excited to really pay attention her body complaining. Mei-Ling was going to see her son and her son-in-law, something that kept her motivated all this time.Â
She walked rather hurriedly in the woods, adrenaline flowing through her veins as she got closer and closer to her target. It was all going so well UNTIL she ran smack dab into a BARRIER that guarded the home she was heading towards.Â
DELICATE fingers raise up to tap the barrier, realizing just how STRONG it was the more she messed with it. If she were back in her teenage years, perhaps she could have found a way to deal with this, but she no longer carried the strength she ONCE had.Â
Moving away from the barrier, Mei-Ling began to pace, trying to THINK of a way past it or at LEAST a way to draw Xue Yangâs attention or even her son in law that she had yet to meet. She supposed she could WAIT but there was no telling if theyâd even leave their home tonight.Â
Mei-Ling paced a little longer till her ears picked up the sound of footsteps, onyx eyes look up to meet someone elseâs gaze. It was a young man that she could only ASSUME was Wei Wuxian.Â
âAre you Wei Wuxian? My name is Xue Mei-Ling, Xue Yangâs mother.â She didnât wait to INTRODUCE herself, wanting to get that out of the way before he had thought she was just a random pest that was messing with the barrier. âI apologize for POKING and PRODDING at your barrier, itâs very⌠nicely done.âÂ
The only reason Xue Yang was the one in the kitchen is because he REFUSED to let Wei Wuxian in it. Complaining that itâs ââtoo spicyââ, and thatâs a nice way of putting it. Considering the amount of times itâs been called poisonous and whatnot. At least their little girl, Chao-Xing, has GOOD taste, and prefers it spicy as well. So thereâs a bunch of spices in the kitchen, but again . . Xue Yang insists on cooking and heâll leave the spices up to them, to add to the dishes on their own accord and liking once itâs finished.Â
That left checking on who came prodding at their barrier to him. Despite the threat of Jin Guangyao being taken care of, he didnât take any chances. Taking Chenqing with him, tucked to his waistband, before moving to the edge of the barrier - right to where he found some woman. Brows furrowed together as her words. . . Xue Mei-Ling? XUE- and then she added those words. . . Xue Yangâs mother?Â
Thatâs not possible, for as far Wei Wuxian knew heâd been orphanaged at a young age. Itâs how he lost his finger, begging for some candy, and . . well, how he ended up where he did before their lives became entertwined with one another. Ironic, how even they at first had been on opposites sides. Now such a thing is unthinkable.Â
ââXue Yang doesnât have any parents.ââ and if he did. . would he want to see her? Arms crossed together in front of his chest, trying to gauge her intentions. ââIf you want something from him, you have more chance of being direct then pretending to be his mother.ââ Because thereâs no way, is there. . .? Somehow, he felt like the worst husband. Heâd never even asked about his parents, if he even remembers their names or. . or how they look like, heâd assumed too much it seems. Just because he doesnât remember what his parents look like, doesnât make it so for everyone. He knows his parents names too, though that could be because he was taken in by people who knew them . . aiyoo, he canât decide on what to do about this. Not without Xue Yang.Â
But before alarming his husband, heâll hear her out a bit longer. ââNow. . why are you here?ââ

Jaw tightened just like his throat. There were a lot of things he put up with with Wei Wuxian but he never thought heâd be second in this. All their lives together had been like that - Father always put effort into Wei Wuxian, while Mother continued to scold him for not matching him. And now⌠even Wen Qing thought Wuxian to be better. Or thatâs what he heard.Â
âIt is. Itâs probably some funny joke to you -â The words are fire on his tongue.
@gracefluteâ ft. Wei Wuxian / xÂ
With everything going on, this wasnât something that needed to get between them either. Itâs why he hadnât been eager to share those specific details with his siblings when they came to Yiling, when Shijie showed her wedding dress. . he knew he had to eventually, but now - now it was too late. He found out through someone else, Wei Wuxian wasnât sure through who but it really didnât matter at this point.Â
ââJiang Cheng, do you really believe Iâd want to hurt you?ââ

Onyx eyes reawaken to the room he had spent his last life in, blinking away the sleep that still LINGERED on the edges of his vision. He doesnât sit up right away, doesnât want to when he was comfortably situated with his head on his loverâs lap.Â
Fingers ran through his long onyx hair, gently combing and untangling locks of hair that knotted together. A sleepy smile pulls at the edges of his pink lips and he decides to finally look up at Wei Wuxian, who seemed to be a little more SULLEN than usual.Â
âA-Ying?â Xue Yang moves to sit up and he WOULD have started to fret over his lover, kissing and pressing gentle affection against him till Wei Wuxian told him what was wrong but then he saw it. His robes had slipped past his shoulders, revealing what SHOULD have been scarred up flesh but instead it was SMOOTH, as if those scars never existed in the first place. Onyx eyes widen at the reveal, taking out his whole arm from the loose robes only to see that yes, his scars were all gone. The clan that Li Jin wanted dead, it was TAKEN care of but it wasnât by his hands and the only other person who knew about it was-.
Xue Yang focuses his attention back to his husband, cupping his face gently with his hands and placing their foreheads against each otherâs, fingers beginning to tenderly stroke the otherâs skin as he sought out ANSWERS. Onyx eyes searching Wei Wuxianâs, searching for anything that could EASE the tidal wave of TURMOILÂ that slammed into his stomach.Â
âWei Ying, y.. you didnât⌠PLEASE tell me you didnât.âÂ
Thatâs the first thing Wei Wuxian did after he came back, pulling his beloved husband onto him without waking him -- or trying to, that is. And leaving his head on his lap, combing through his hair, it was the only comfort to the raging turmoil inside him. Then he had looked, confirming the scars were gone and defining his own deeds to get this result. He didnât regret it, his beloved was free now. Heâll live, Chao-Xing wonât lose her father again. But there was guilt, of course, for the entire clan he destroyed. For the friends that would be mourning them, possible lovers, other people that knew them, people that had been saved by them.Â
They werenât evil, like the Qishan Wen Sect. Heâd done everyone a favor with taking care of them. . . this.. wasnât anything like that. His gaze shifts to Xue Yang, realizing he had woken up the moment he spoke his name. Had he been that far away in his thought that he didnât even notice how he lifted his head up ? He opened his mouth to speak, but the moment the robe slipped down and Xue Yang SAW . . he knew there would be no hiding it. Not that heâd planned on hiding it from him, he wouldâve found out one way or another. Itâs his body baring the scars, after all.
He blinks as his gaze lowered, unable to bring him the comfort of denial. ââIt was done quick, they didnât suffer.ââ But even though that was true, heâd used Chenqing to do so. And unlike playing with them like he had the Qishan Wen Sect, all kinds of tortuous ways to bring them to their deaths, this was done quickly out of neccessity. Still, the words making it real. . so final, that it gripped his heart, causing a shaky exhale.Â
ââI- I had to. I couldnât lose you again. . . A-Yang, I had no choice.ââ And as eyes teared up bitterly, it wasnât just to mourn himself, or those who were lost forever now. But also. . the fear of A-Yang seeing him as a monster, as someone irredeemable. Someone unworthy of him.Â
