I went into this thinking "influencer meets small town fisherman? It'll be just like It Happened One Summer by Tessa Bailey." But it's actually pretty different!
Obviously, the vibes of the fishing town are similar and immaculate, but the relationship is refreshingly..real? Not as dramatic as some romance books? I can't put my finger on it, but love them.
I love the honesty, the lack ofa miscommunication trope, and the cute side characters that bring it al together.

Crows have always held a special place in my interests because there were a lot near my campus when would walk to class.
I loved the connections made between the birds, family, and environment in this book. It made me take a closer look at how city wildlife behaves in my own neighborhood.
I DID hope for more crow anecdotes of them doing cool things or collecting cool stuff, but that's just because I want to be friends with a crow so badly ヽ(*゚ー゚*)ノ

Mountains may rise and fall, and the sun might wither away, and the sea claim the land and swallow the sky. But you will always be mine. And the stars might fall from the heavens, and night might cloak the earth, but until darkness dies, I will always be yours.

Are you afraid of storms? Of monsters?
A surprise end of winter snowstorm has me reevaluating my TBR. I may have to move this book up on the list.
There's something about horror and thrillers set in the snow that takes my breath away. It feels extra wrong when everything else is blanketed in such a pretty way.
Murder, mystery, monsters, mayhem, I'm in.
Who wants to get spooky with me?

I planned on reading this book as a romantic Valentine's gift to myself, but ended up with a whole different story on my plate (right next to my delicious snack).
This book took so many left turns ended up in a different zip code. Dont get me wrong, the story was fine, but was really shocked how different this one felt to Mia Sheridan's other book Archer's Voice. That book is one of my favorites, so this one was a little off-putting.
If you read this book's blurb and are thinking you won't like it, l'd say think again, because it is literally nothing like it's summary.
Forced proximity? Sure.
Second chance romance? Definitely.
But there's also an entire thriller/drama that comes in totally unexpected.
Come for the romance, stay to figure out where the hell it's all going, end up still liking the book!

"Love means constantly saying you're sorry, and then doing better."
Emily Henry got me once again. I basically couldn't put this book down, and I loved how the romance was believable.
Were the characters flawed? Yes, but in a real way instead of a "they're like this to force plot points" way. It felt like a real story instead of a trope vehicle.
The storytelling of the history between Harriet and Wyn made me root for them so wholeheartedly that I was on the edge of my seat stressed out until the very end of the book. If anyone wants to talk about those last few chapters let me know because I'm still excited.
I liked this so much I might buy a physical copy even though I read it online (✿^‿^)
I do wish I could move to Montana now, though, and fix all my problems.

Murder for Christmas by Francis Duncan was enthralling enough to reignite my love of detective mysteries.
It's been a while since I've read a murder story that was truly unpredictable, but this one really got me!
I loved how picturesque the surrounding land was, it really added to the wrongness of the yuletide crime.
Though I do wish I'd learned a little more background about some of the side characters, it was still enough to keep me focused. It's possible the slow beginning to the story was purposely lulling me into a false sense of holiday charm, right before the excitement kicked off, and I appreciated that.
It's not so complex that you couldn't finish it by Christmas, so if you're looking for something more macabre than merry this year, pick this one up!

Vicious and Vengeful by V.E. Schwab are a fun peek into what realistic superpowers might be like. I love how the powers come about. It's so based in reality that it really sucks you in, and I can't help but wonder what other possibilities there are in this world of science fiction.
Did I like book one more than book two? Yes.
Did I put off finishing book two because I was scared to lose some of the characters? Yes.
Would I read a third book? Probably.
Was Victor my favorite character? Absolutely.
I don't normally jump into scifi because I find some the world building can end up taking me out of the story a lot of the time if it feels forced or unnatural. Schwab did a wonderful job with making these characters feel like they had their feet firmly on real ground.

The Way Through Doors by Jesse Ball feels like what happens when you try to describe your dreams to someone.
It feels like the entire book is constantly in transition, which I suppose is really the way you move through doors, constantly transitioning from one place to another.
If you have any love for stories by Italo Calvino, I suggest picking up this book. It's got the same feeling of what a book would be like if it were actually a Möbius strip.
Also featuring a painting I like that reminds me of the book cover, Josef Albers' Homage to the Square: Shade Around Shade.

Welcome to Fae Cafe by Jennifer Kropf is a wonderful mix of adventure and comfort. The author's descriptive writing made me feel like I was actually sitting in a cozy cafe, sipping a warm drink and watching some people live out a crazy adventure around me.
There isn't a lot of spice or very high stakes, but the story is good and the group is fun. The romance between the leading characters is obviously sweet, but I actually fell more in love with the supporting cast to be honest. They had such distinct and fun personalities, it was hard to like the moments of the story they were excluded from as much as I liked the moments they were there for.
Mor and Cress' friendship reminded me a lot of Cass and Kieran in the From Blood and Ash series, so if you liked them, you'll like this!
There's a lot of room for growth in this fantasy world, it's a fun set up for potential future adventure, and I'm hoping we'll see more installments of the High Court of the Coffee Bean!

"Things that you put off saying until tomorrow are sometimes never said."
Before Your Memory Fades by Toshikazu Kawaguchi is the third book in a series that continues to be pleasantly cozy despite its emotional content.
The books can be a bit repetitive at times, but I think the relationships between the characters make up for it. Ill probably get the fourth book!
I also thought this painting "Kaaterskill Falls" by Sanford Robinson Gifford fit the description of the autumn season most of the book is set in.
