Imagine falling into Legolas in Rivendell…

You were running through the courtyard after being explicitly being told to rest after narrowly escaping an orc ambush with your life. But you were determined. As you raced down a flight of stairs, a single fallen leaf still damp with morning dew brought about your downfall.

With feet no longer grounded, you would have hit several beautiful stone steps and injured yourself further if Legolas had not been passing at that moment.

Arms wrapping around your torso, the Woodland prince was fairly surprised to see you up and about. His father had sent a letter to Lord Elrond but Legolas insisted upon delivering it personally - just to see you.

“It is a wonder how you escaped the orc ambush if this is how you run.” He teased while helping stabilise you once more.

Upon his visits, he would train with you and it wasn’t long before frequent sparring sessions blossomed into something deeper.

You smirked at his jest. “Clearly.” Then you noticed that he was still wearing his riding cloak. “Lord Elrond did not tell me that we were having guests. Had I known that you were coming, I would have…”

“Run faster?” Legolas guessed and laughed when he earned himself a playful push. “I have a letter to deliver from my father.”

I'm pretty much introverted, but i wnjoy being around people i'm familiar with, and i have pretty good social skills. I'm a slytherin (secondary ravenclaw) and my mbti type is intp.

i enjoy reading and writing, especially all sorts of fiction, fantasy (and maybe a bit of romance). i love cats, dogs, horses and dragons. my favourite color is probably black, dark green or dark wine red. I play guitar and i shoot a bow.

I have a particular fondness for all sorts of folklore, legends and mythology. I'm pretty sarcastic and confident. i enjoy being around nature. I'm slavic, that's probably why i really like to braid my own hair, as well as others'.

He is curious to learn about your craft (he assumes writing is your craft) and will most likely ask if he can read something you've written. He's very polite about it, and won't be at all offended if you don't want to show him. Kíli seems to understand that some creations are made for the creator alone.

On the the other hand, if you are willing to show him, he'll read it all, no matter how long it is. He likes the fantasy genre as well, and doesn't mind a bit of romance. He's not the best writer, but he does point out some things he liked about your work. Asks if you have anything else he can read. He will read everything you've ever written if you let him.

He likes hearing you talk. He likes listening to you tell him your myths and legends and just about anything else you've been learning recently. He's a sucker for stories of any nature, but you'll find that he has a bit of a penchant for the old tales, as well. He'll start finding ones that he likes to offer in exchange for the ones you tell. Any time you hang out with animals, he gets heart eyes. Just stares at you the entire time. Fíli makes fun of him for it constantly. Chances are, he's going to find out what your favorite animal is and bring you to a place where you can adopt one. Kíli loves your pet so much. Straight up calls it 'our pebble.' (Pebble being the dwarvish term for kiddo.) Absolutely spoiled, both you and your pebble.

If you play your guitar, he will hum along. Eventually starts picking up on songs you play more than once and will end up humming them beneath his breath at random times of day when he's working. Might even come up with a few cobbled together lyrics for one, if you seem super fond of it. You're going to have to poke it out of him, though - he doesn't think he's the best lyricist, he just sort of made it up, they're not very good, Amrâlimê, really -

Do I even need to said it? Braid his hair. He's a dwarf ffs, he'll literally adore you. Also, he's braiding yours too.. It's a very intimate, yet light-hearted thing for the two of you. Brings you closer together every time.

i genuinely can't remember if i sent you an ask or not, so feel free to ignore this if you like, but if not, then i have request for you! due to various mental illnesses, i experience hypervigilance (sounds are louder, tastes are stronger) and sensory overload (too many things attacking my senses can make me have a breakdown). therefore i humbly request comfort in the form of how the lotr characters would deal with the reader having a sensory induced breakdown, please and thank you 💕💕

How Thorin & Elrond would respond to a reader experiencing sensory overload

Thorin:

Thorin can recognize your distress but he doesn’t initially understand what’s wrong.

As soon as he does, if anyone’s around he’ll yell for everyone to shut up in his absolute scariest, most commanding voice (he realizes this is loud and will also apologize to you right after, but he wants everyone to pipe down and go tf away).

Loads and loads of reassurance that he’s got you and he’s here to help in any way he can (even if he doesn’t know how).

Will have to ask what you need, but is quick to catch on.

Immediately making you earmuffs out of anything that’s within reach and will take you to the closest quiet spot.

His instinct is lots of reassuring touches + affection, so if this is overwhelming for you he’ll have to apologize a lot and try very hard to stop himself. 

Look he’d fight the sun for you if he could.

Since he can’t actually fight the sun for how bright it is, he’ll bring you to the darkest room he can find. Again, he’ll start making adjustments to the surroundings/makeshift fixing things up. If there aren’t curtains, he’ll hang blankets or his cloak over windows to block out as much light as he can. 

If there isn’t a room to go to/you’re outside, you best believe this guy is rigging up a tent in three seconds flat.

If he can’t manage that, he’ll wrap you up in his hooded cloak.

If you need to be left alone, he will reluctantly do so, and will basically just stand guard and intercept anyone who might come over to bother you.

If you need/want him to stay with you and don’t want touch, he will find this very difficult, but will do his best to just sit near you and hang out. He’ll probably have to do something with his hands to occupy himself but will sit with you for however long you need. 

Will definitely try to distract you with a quiet song or story if you can handle that level of sound. 

If you need/want touch to help soothe you, he can give really good crushing hugs. The kind where you think your back is going to crack. If you need something a little softer than that, he’ll just tightly hold you and braid your hair. 

Literally if you need/want touch you best believe that by the time you’re finally relaxed you’ll have 120550589 braids in your hair. 

Later, he brings you a pair of proper sound-cancelling earmuffs that he invented himself and the heaviest blanket he could find. He asks you a lot of questions about what this is like for you and about what you need so that he can be better prepared to help you in the future.  💕

Elrond

Elrond recognizes what’s going on right away. He needs absolutely no explanation and will jump in to help you immediately. Nothing else matters. Even if he’s mid-conversation or on his way somewhere, he’ll stop whatever he’s doing to focus entirely on you.

First thing’s first: damage control. He’ll immediately use Vilya to help biologically quell your distress, syncing your heartbeat and breathing patterns to his, calming down your nervous system. 

His outer robe’s coming off. You’re being swaddled. Not optional. It’s big and heavy and velvety-soft, like the world’s best weighted blanket.

Off you go to somewhere quiet. If you can walk that’s awesome. If you’re too overwhelmed my man is 7′ tall and so strong so he’ll just pick you up and take you somewhere dark and quiet as fast as possible. This is probably his own office, rather than the healing halls. The healing halls generally thrum with activity which can be too much noise/light/movement when you’re already overstimulated. His office is private and empty and he still has a lot of his necessary tools there. 

As soon as you’re inside, he’ll shut the curtains and make sure you’re comfortable and then get down to your level on the floor and quietly ask what you need/how he can help. 

He’ll ask if there are any types of sensory inputs you find soothing (specific textures, sounds, tastes, smells--- anything). If there is, he’ll immediately go source it. 

If you need/want to be left alone, he’s happy to do that, but he’ll still check in on you/keep you swaddled/bring you calming herbal teas. 

If you’d rather have him around and you’re okay with touch/need pressure then that’s it you are getting the best hug. 

Like the firmest, all-around-best-kind-of-squash hug, not too much, not too little. 

If you don’t want/can’t handle touch but don’t want to be left alone, then he’ll just quietly sit next to you and use a combination of Vilya and ósanwe to just radiate this really nice, gentle calming energy until you feel better.

Once you’re feeling a bit better he’ll go and fetch a couple herbal remedies for muscle pain/stress/etc and get you a snack + something nice to drink.

Literally will let you hang out with him in his office for however long you want. Tired from the overload/panic + wanna fall asleep on his reading couch? Go for it. Wanna fall asleep on him? Totally fine. He’ll hold you. 

In the future, his office is always open to you and he makes sure you know that. It’s always quiet and peaceful, with the perfect amount of white noise coming off of the river, so it’s the perfect place when you just need somewhere quiet and safe. You can come in any time that you start to get overwhelmed, and he’ll make you something nice to drink and let you stay as long as you like.  💕

Yes, the minimum word count for a novel is 40k and the max is 110k. The average novel word count is about 80k to 100k, but as soon as you hit 40k, you technically pass! Anything from 10k to 40k is considered a novella and anything over 110k is considered an epic novel. That's to my knowledge, anyway. So congratulations on your novel!! 🎉🎉🏆✨ Very amazing job, I am proud of you!! 💕💕💕

Hey, love!

I've rewritten this letter dozens of times. You wouldn't believe how long it took to decide on 'hey, love!'. I'm still not sold. I can't help it, you just make me nervous! In a good way, of course.

It's been busy without you. Never thought I'd feel lonely, but here I am. I swear I've never thought about anyone's eyes this much, but I can see yours now. I found a stone the exact same color. I've saved it for you, but I'm not giving it to you until you get home! And only after at least ten kisses. Maybe eleven.

I still can't believe you think you can hide from me! I know when you're feeling down even through a letter, love. It's killing me that I can't be with you to cheer you up. The idea of the days you'll be waiting for this letter to arrive, and me, here, with no way to help. But you're strong. So strong, amrâlimê, never forget it! Remember not to work too hard, by order of the prince! It's a crime to disobey, love. We wouldn't want you to get arrested, now would we?

Now that you're smiling again, (at least I hope you are, or I must look a bit stupid, ha-) remember that I love you, mizimith, and know that I'll be with you as soon as I can come. Don't let that smile go. I adore it way too much for that.

Teaching and helping people is what the Madrigals do! Julieta in particular is fond of people who like to help people, and she's happy to help you find something that you enjoy doing that helps the people of Encanto. Do a crafting class for the kids, they'll love it.

Loves your DIY projects. Asks Casita to help you with anything relating to furniture/Casita itself, but she personally takes an interest in any small crafts you do, in whatever medium. She kind of just likes having something small and quick to fiddle with when she's not busy. Loves to ask you for help, even if she knows exactly what she's doing, cause with a project that small, you really can't help but hold hands :)

I saw that you had match ups open and wanted to send one in! I've only done this onve before so I'm a bit new on this whole thing lol.

Anyway! I am an 22 year old male (fine with any gender match up), very short as in 5'3" and I am an albino! I have the usual white hair, pale skin and blueish-purple eyes. I am not very confident with my looks so I often make it up with humor. (Coping with humor go brr). I am an artist and love to draw on computer, traditionally or with paints. I often lean into an fantasy animal/enchanted forest vibe with my art!

I am a pretty shy guy at first but I can be a little shy and cold at first but after warming up to people I can be warm and often the dad friend. I am an introvert so I do require lots of time alone. I have really bad adhd and often can be overstimulated by large crowds or loud sounds so I prefer to spend time in smaller groups or even just on your phone or reading with friends.

As I said I have adhd and I am really bad at remembering things and the worst with timed events. I am very creative but simple things, like cooking or cleaning, can be hard for me to underestand or start on. I currently study plant biology and I am very into animal biology, especially birds! I like forests and photographing animals. I like collecting small trinkets from rocks to twigs, even some animal bones once in a while. I just think they're neat. I can often ramble on about things I like and I know it can be annoying, I just can shut up if I am asked about something I love.

Also I have hard time deciphering my own emotions and can often confuse one emotion for another. Same can be with other people. I might confuse someones short, one worded awnser as them being angry at me. It brings me lot's of anxiety but I'm thankfully starting to learn emotions better woth help!

I would call Agustín a solid ambivert. He doesn't mind if you'd rather stay away from the party, though he has a tendency to get caught up in it himself, often through no means of his own. (He just gets asked to help a lot and he doesn't like to say no.) However, when he has the time (often after the party starts settles down), he'll come plop next to you, smile, and ask you how your party went, referring, of course, to literally whatever you were doing.

If you ever ask him to stay with you instead of hanging out at the party, then the party is dead. He's spending alone time with his bf, abuela, go away!!

(No idea where this came from, but he will gently stroke your hair all of the time. The man is the epitome of gentle and soft.)

He will often just give you a gentle smile when you cope with humor. May offer a little joke in return if he's feeling it. When it's important to face something seriously, he will gently guide you in that direction, but he does not insist. He doesn't judge. He's just very sweet, okay ;-;

He loves your art. And not just the skill that goes into it, but the subject, too! Really likes that soft, magical feel. Will stand in front of your art and gently stroke his chin as he admires it like he's at a whole ass art gallery. Gives surprisingly good suggestions if you ever ask for constructive criticism, as well as deeply thought out compliments. This man knows art theory. How? Well that's just his little secret, isn't it? ;)

Just kidding!! It's because he also likes to draw and paint! He cannot help you with being late. That's just your own form of accident prone, and he relates. You're more likely to both start being late. Oops. At the very least, I can confidently say he won't feel bad if you forget an important event like an anniversary or birthday. He'll just gently remind you and happily chuckle as you go 'oh shit!' Fully aware that that is a love language of it's own. You can just have a dinner in, and he'll love it just the same.

When executive dysfunction gets you down, this man becomes a one man pep team. So insistent, but in a soft and encouraging way.

If you're really struggling he'll do one of two things depending on your mood. A - literally pick you up and heft you to your feet, physically encouraging you in the right direction. Bless.

He brings you rocks for your collection. Every single one of them is literally just a normal rock, except for the one time he brings you a feather, which is not part of the collection you showed him, but he thought you would like it. *shrug*

This man respects /srs ideology to the extreme. If you ask him to clarify what he means, there is a 0% chance of fuckery. He will tell you, even if it's negative, and if it is negative, he will be very gentle about it. He says these things in a way that promotes communication and mutual problem-solving. 10/10.
