Happy Ostara, guys!

Today is the first day of Ostara, the pagan festival of fertility. It also celebrates rebirth and renewal, so in some ways, I see it as a Pagan type of New Year.

Which is great for me, because I've been trying to lose weight for an upcoming surgery, (that's in part why I've been missing, got a lot of health concerns right now) and I got ill a while ago and put back on all the weight I'd lost, but today, I'm renewing my efforts!

I need suggestion! Stories about kids who went to magic schools. Yes, I know, Harry Potter, I have the whole collection from before Rowling proved herself a transphobe and cancelled herself.

It's a novel writing project, and I need several examples of the story type to study. Books are better, but I'll also take tv, movie and anime suggestions. I can easily study those too.

Blue Exorcist and Soul Eater could count, but I'd prefer examples with more ordinary protagonists.

Happy Samhain, guys!!

Halloween is such a special time of year for me, and not just because I'm a witch. My mum always made Halloween special, right from when I was tiny.

Well before our family became involved in spiritualism, my mum was into the more creepy and ethereal things. Spirits, Vampires, monsters, etc. She would have fit in perfectly at the gothic celebrations at Whitby if she'd known about them at the time and their wonderful costumes.

We were perfectly average at that time, no magick, no spiritualism, but my mum always had a really special connection to the spooky, and made that connection for my sister and me growing up.

We'd have several days leading up to Halloween where she'd plan what we were doing, food, music, stories, what films we would watch to put us in the mood, stuff like Hocus Pocus-

The scary movies from the 80s like Bram Stoker's Dracula-

A Nightmare On Elm Street-

All when we were ready of course, and old classics like The Halloween Tree-

And we'd put up the decorations a few days before, leaving the larger decorations for the big day of course.

Then for a few days afterward we'd have have the decorations, gradually taking them down, and continuing in the spooky celebrations.

There was always too much for us to do! We couldn't cram it all into one night.

It wasn't until many years later that Halloween became even more special to us, as we became involved in spiritualism. Then some years later, I fell into witchcraft and found out the Samhain lasts for 3 days for us regardless.

I found it funny that our celebration of the season lasted for about a week, when, not knowing, Samhain lasted for several days anyway.

It's like we were always meant to be what we became.

My mother is a truly special person who I love deeply and will always treasure. I probably wouldn't be a witch today if she hadn't pursued spirit the way she did, and allowed me to do so as well.

Witch Diaries 1

This is one of my experiences from the other day. I was listening to the music channels with my mum. She’s a spiritualist, so conversations on gathering and using energy are everyday with her.

Regardless, Counting stars by One Republic starts playing, and its such a great track. One of the few that makes me want to get up and try to dance to it. It wouldn’t be a very pretty sight, I am a horrible dancer. So I was telling mom that you can use the energy from music to gather power for your spells. As an example, I cupped my hands as though holding a ball and let myself feel the music, the pace, the rhythm, the gathering tension leading to the pay off in the chorus, and let those feelings gather in my hands. After a minute, I called my mum over, and asked her to sense it. We tend to use the hands method. Holding a hand out to the energy and feeling for tingling in our fingers and palms. And as she reached her hand out to hover over mine, there was an audible crack, and she jerked her hand away. I’d gathered enough energy in a minute of listening to a good song, to administer, by accident, a shock!

I was so incredibly proud and excited in that moment that I had to post here about it. So if you’re having trouble raising energy for spell work, put your headphones on and find out a track that makes you want to sing and dance. That’ll do the trick.

Correspondences 1

Welcome back! Today, we’re looking at correspondences and what they are.

Generally, they’re a very big, confusing sounding word for something not that big and confusing.

The dictionary definition of the word is, a close similarity, connection, or equivalence, which is exactly what they are.

When a spell or potion calls for certain ingredients, its because each ingredient has an equivalent meaning to it.

There are a number of correspondences that even non-witches are aware of, so we’ll start there. Lavender for example has a connection to calmness, so someone might add lavender scented Epsom salts to their bath water. Likewise, someone trying to enhance self-love, might wear a rose scented perfume or aftershave.

So, non-witches are doing witchy things without even knowing about it. Its like how when people see a bouquet of roses, and how the giving of one is considered a deeply romantic act.

This is just the very basics of correspondences. In short, every food, crystal, fluid, has some special meaning attached to it, which is why spells call for specific ingredients. There is however, more to it.

Multiple items might have the same correspondence. An example of this would be the lavender that we mentioned before, and chamomile. Maybe the witch doesn’t have time for a 30 minute soak to take in the spell, so making up a cup of chamomile tea might be the next best, fastest option. A minute and a half steeping plus a 30 second enchantment are a lot faster than the time it takes to run a bath.

Now, having covered that multiple items can have the same meaning, its important to mention that all items can have multiple meanings as well.

The most well known correspondence of rose is love, but it can also be used in spells that require items that represent luck, happiness, protection, and even friendship. Calm is the correspondence of lavender, but lavender also represents success, money, and even drawing in a new, loving partner.

This can be useful, because there are a number of spells that require items that I just don’t have, or even items that go against your morals to use. For example, grave dirt, or coffin nails. Others can use those if they want to, but I personally feel that in my own practice, it’d be wrong, so finding out an item that has the same correspondence would be great.

Grave dirt can be used in rituals for the upcoming festival of Samhain, but items that can be used instead are patchouli or coffee grounds.

This can be important for spells that require correspondences that against your morals and your wallet.

For example, vegans would be against using animal products in their spells, so finding an available alternative is the only alternative.

As for finding out what correspondences the items have, google is your friend.

Find out what herbs, foods, spices and such that you have in your home and go into google. Type in, Magical properties of, and then the name of the item. Once you’ve found them out, you can list the items and what to use them for in your Book of Shadows, something I can go into in another post.

There's a disney villains tarot, but I was wondering, which characters would be the major arcana for a disney good guys tarot? I've got-

Young hercules for The Fool

Yen Sid as The Magician

Rapunzel for The Star, although I can see and understand the temptation for her to be The Tpwer as well.

And Bruno Madrigal for The Moon

I could also consider rapunzel and mirable as female alternates for The Fool since I feel they fit the character pretty well too.

And yes. Hades for Death. Because of course.

Although I can also see Abuela , Gepetto or Simba as death, as all of them lose something important to them but then a new type of life opens up for them.

Gonna try a new spell tomorrow!

I usually make fullmoon water to relax my family since some of us have nervous conditions, but lately, I been lacking motivation.

The new moon is perfect for setting intentions and starting new things, so I'm gonna make a moon water based around that!

We'll see how that goes though, most spells and potions I make end up as sleeps spells and potions.

I don't know if there's a spell for that, however they look now could change, dyed or cut hair, contact lenses, tattoo, they might lose a limb, but you could try divination. Just do it safely :)

It's Valentines day! And I'm asexual and happy with that, so Vday doesn't affect me, but I know it bothers others others, so here I am, with love magick!

First off, treat yourself today. You deserve it. Today's also special for another reason. We're gonna mark today as the day you decide that you're gonna find love. You're gonna affirm it!

"Today is about love, and that's what I'm going to bring into my life."

There are all sorts of ways we can go about bringing a partner into our lives, and I'm gonna go over a few of them.

First off, love spells don't work, so don't bother trying. You want someone who genuinely loves you, not a f#@k zombie.

Instead, we're gonna use the universal law of attraction.

So, stop yearning. I know, it sounds counterintuitive, "I want a boyfriend, and I'll get one by not wanting one?" Yes. Exactly that. Wanting for something tells the universe to produce more of that, the feeling of wanting.

Instead, we're gonna start our day with the affirmation, "I'm attracting real love. I'm drawing in real love."

Next, we're gonna strengthen that universal attraction using magick.

As commonly known, red is associated with love, so use that colour in your home and wardrobe.

If you're looking for a particularly spicy romance, try getting a pack of red underpants.

Decorate your home with red stuff. Ornaments, candles, that sort of thing.

Certain flavours are associated with drawing in love as well. Mostly warming and spicy ones, so any food or drink or tea with cinnamon in it. Hot chocolate is great for incorporating cinnamon.

Now, while the universe is doing its thing, you're gonna focus on you. Improving yourself. But also, you're going to push yourself outside. You are not Rapunzel. Prince charming won't come to your home in search of you.

You don't have to go out looking for dates, go out with your friends, you family, actually socialise. The universe is doing its bit to draw in someone for you, you need to get out and catch them!

If getting outside isn't possible, push yourself to get onto those websites like tinder and bumble. You're only going to find someone by putting yourself among them.

So for today, just treat yourself, and treat today as special because you're choosing to start drawing in love today.
