Hey Everyone! Recently my AO3 account officially reached 1,000,000 Hits in total. I'm not sure how to express how thankful I am for all of you. Without everyone, writing over the years wouldn't have been the same. I can't believe it's been 8 years! Whether you've been around since the beginning with Korrasami or have found me through newer fandoms, I can't thank you enough.

But, as an attempt to thank you, here's a giveaway for a free fanfiction of your choosing. There will be three winners. The rules for entry and prize details are below.

I just got really interested to see which things hit other people's hearts, and to see how much people differ.

For me the "you saved me" or "never related to anything this much" hit the hardest, because I really want to touch individual lives. So I guess I have to go with the "saved me" because knowing that my writing could make the difference between giving up and deciding to fight for someone, makes me so grateful that I had the opportunity to write and share the story.

On the other hand, while comments regarding my stuff as high as canon are obviously a huge ego boost, I feel conflicted about them, because I neither deserve nor want the responsibility of people's expectations if they approach my work from that kind of mindset.

The other stuff is just purely pleasant to hear, and makes me feel like sharing my writing is really worth it, and that I'm succeeding at what I'm aiming for.

Anyway, I'm really curious about other people's opinions and reasoning too, if you want to give it.

Hi! I’m absolutely loving I’ll Run To You (Whenever You Call)!! While reading your work, I always find myself willing to explore new areas of fiction that I generally wouldn’t find myself drifting towards. Prior to finding your stories, I never found myself reading fanfics containing alpha/beta/omega dynamics, BDSM, etc. because of how I was exposed to young writers taking on those topics when I much younger myself (it was very messy lol). I legit find you a genius at taking on topics that so many people find taboo and refuse to talk about and writing about them in the most eloquent way, it amazes me every time. You write in a way that’s inviting, informational, and so much more that I have no idea how to explain. I’m excited to see you venture out into new territory and tackle on more topics in your incredible way! Hopefully we’ll all be buying books off the shelves from you one day! You have a forever fan here!

I think one of the best parts of writing is being able to delve into new genres and areas that I typically might not explore myself through reading. When others express enjoyment when reading it, it makes it all the more worth it! Personally "I'll Run to You (Whenever You Call)" is really uncharted territory for me, so it's been fun to write, but I was definitely worried people weren't going to like it, so receiving this message is very reassuring. I felt the same way when I first posted Vertigo too 😂. I'm so glad that I could make those topics inviting and informational, like that may be one of the best compliments I've EVER received. So thank you!

I'll definitely be exploring some other genres and I hope the stories will continue to be as enjoyable as my past ones. Again, thank you so much for sending this. It was very sweet of you and much appreciated ❤️.

People are sleeping on this queer representation + show in general

As a queer Asian American I feel an obligation to get more people to know about Warrior (2019) which is streaming on MAX (HBO), but had originally aired on Cinemax.

This show is based on an original concept and writings of Bruce Lee and is executive-produced by his daughter, Shannon Lee. It is set in 1870 San Francisco and bases a lot of the story and characters on historical figures during/around the Tong Wars. It's a riveting, action packed series that's sure to please anyone who enjoys old school martial arts films, westerns, dramas, and more.

But that's not it. The show has an interracial queer relationship that too many people don't know about. This will now go into spoiler territory. So if this post has already convinced you to go watch it just from the first image, then don't read on.

You first get to see Ah Toy and Nellie Davenport interact at the beginning of season 2. Ah Toy, from season 1 is already canonically bisexual. From the get go it is evident that they are enemies as Ah Toy is an influential madame in Chinatown who runs a brothel. While on the other hand Nellie is a rich widow who has aided the police force in raids throughout Chinatown to shut down crib brothels. In time you'll learn that they're both badass motherfuckers, but I don't want to spoil that for you!

As the season progresses, they find that they aren't as different as they originally thought. Falling straight into the enemies to lovers story path. So here's a still from season 3 of these wonderful bi women to encourage you all to check out Warrior.

AO3 Etiquette -UPDATED

Based on both decent and not so decent replies, I have made some changes to my original post below.

It would seem a whole new kind of AO3 reader/writer is emerging and it is becoming clear not everyone quite understands how the website community works. Here is some basic guidance on how most people expect you to go about using AO3 to keep this a fun community archive that funtions correctly:

Kudos is for when the story was interesting enough to make you finish reading. If it sucked or was badly written, you probably left. If you finished it, you liked it - so kudos.

If you really liked it, you should comment. It can be long and detailed or a literal keysmash. Writers don't care, we just love comments.

No critisism unless the author has specifically asked or agreed to hear it. Even constructive critisism is a no-no unless an author note tells you it's okay. No, posting it online is not an open invitation for that. Many people write as a fun hobby or a way to cope with, among other things, insecurity and just want to share. Don't ruin that for them.

Do not comment to ask the author to write/update something else. It's tacky and off-putting and will probably have the opposite effect than the one you want.

There is no algorithm, it's an archive. Use the search and filter function to add/remove the pairings/characters/tropes etc. you want to read about and it will find you the fics that fit the bill.

For this to work, writers must tag and rate stories. This avoids readers finding the wrong things and missing the stuff they want. I don't care how cringy that trope is in your eyes - it gets tagged.

Character A/Character B means a ROMANTIC or SEXUAL relationship of some kind. Character A&Character B is PLANTONIC, like friendship or family.

Nothing is banned. This is an implicit rule because banning one thing is a slipperly slope to banning another and another, until nothing is allowed anymore. Do not expect anyone to censor for you. Because of the tags system, you are responsible for your own reading experience.

People can create new chapters and sequels/fic series any time after they "complete" a story. So it's considered perfectly normal to subscribe, even to a finished story. You can even subscribe to the author instead just to cover your bases.

Do not repost stories or change the publishing date without an extremely good reason (like a complete top to bottom rewrite). It's an archive, not social media. No one cares what's the most recent, only what fits their tag needs.

Try to avoid deleting a story you wrote if you hate it - make it anonymous or orphan it so others can still enjoy it, without it being connected to your name anymore.

It's come to my attention that metaworks ARE allowed on AO3, which is something I wasn't aware of. So if you do post an essay or theory, please tag it as such so others can choose to search for it or exclude it.

The only reason this archive works is because NON ONE PROFITS. Do not link to your ko-fi or patreon or mention monetary gain in any way or you violate the terms and risk having your account removed.

I KNOW there's plenty more I missed but I'm trying to cover most of the basics that people seem to be struggling with.

I invite anyone to add to this, but please explain, don't berate.
