Dairy Milk’s Winter Orange bar is up today!
Tumblr media
And it looks really nice!
As you break the bar, you can clearly feel the gummy orange bits inside the bar
Having a square: it’s very lovely. The orange is a very nice addition, but not overpowering. There’s another flavor in there as well that I can’t place my finger on but is really nice
Tumblr media
Lookin at the label, it looks like there’s apple and pineapple in it! That could be it.
Either way, this is a very nice bar that I totally recommend :)

Today we’re trying the new Winter Edition Kit-Kat with “Carmelised Biscuit”
Tumblr media
Not sure what caramelised biscuit is, but let’s find out!
When I open it up, it definitely *smells* caramel-y
Tumblr media
There’s more Christmas-y spices in this than advertised. My first reaction was “Oh wow it’s rich”. There’s definitely a melody of flavors going on here beyond the caramel.
It’s nice :)
Not my favorite
Definitely a nice flavor though for Christmas-time that I’ll eat one-at-a-time

Today I’m throwing my vote towards these three!
Every year Dairy Milk puts out some bars invented by regular people (or at least we’re led to believe they’re regular—I don’t know how much fiber they eat) and tells us to Vote To Pick One! (That said, I don’t see any of last year’s bars about)
I’m going to eat them in what I expect to be worst to best starting wiiiiiith
Tumblr media
Banoffee Nut Crumble!
(Apparently I can’t just break off the top-3-row cleanly, but I’m going to pretend I meant to do it this way)
The banana taste is ok.
Historically I’ve enjoyed banana candies more than most: Runts, Laffy Taffy, etc., and this banana is very close to that!
I’m not a fan of it with this chocolate, tbh. There’s supposed to be almonds in this, but I’m not getting that really.
Overall: meh.
Tumblr media
Next up is Fizzing Cherry!
(I still can’t break off the top-3!)
I’m a fan of popping candy in my chocolate (the fizzing orange chocolate bits are some of my very favorite)
The cherry is very subtle. I can tell when I bite into the chewy cherry bits, but I can only barely taste it. The fizzing candy is sparse, but there as well.
Overall: I like it. It’s a little fizz with a delicious Dairy Milk with a hint of secondary sweet.
Tumblr media
Last one: No Frownie Brownie!
As this is a blog about chocolate, and this bar is chocolate plus chocolate, I’m assuming this one is the better of the three.
(Hey! I finally broke the top-3 properly!)
Hmm. I don’t really taste the gooey brownie. I barely taste the salted caramel bits. (@devilishmess caught a whole salt rock and recoiled, though). The crunchy biscuit is more prominent here for some reason (even though they all seem to have the same amount)
Overall: it’s really just a crunchy Dairy Milk bar.
So my ranking would be the following:
Fizzing Cherry
No Frownie Brownie
Banoffee Nut

Today I’m trying Toblerone cheesecake!
This was £3.00 at Tesco, reduced to £2.50 and you get two pots
Tumblr media
That chocolate top is THICK! And delicious Toblerone—not cheap knockoff Toblerone.
The next layer is delicious, rich cheesecake. It’s really good.
The bottom layer is moist, crumbly, chocolate cake
All together they make an absolutely magical desert.
I could do with less crumbly cake (it has made a mess!), but please don’t change it if it changes the taste for the worse haha
A++ would buy again!

Today we are trying every variety of Kit-Kat that ASDA had here!
The UK only gets two types of Oreo and three types of M&Ms, but holy hell is there a variety of Kit-Kat!
Of note, these are only the regular-sized ones; I did not get the Big ones (maybe I’ll hunt those down and do a post on them in the future)
I’m normally a dark/mint fan, so I’m expecting that to be my favorite. I love me some Orange and also Honeycomb, so I expect those next up. And—long time readers will know—I’m not the biggest fan of hazelnut spread, so I expect to be underwhelmed by that one. Zebra is a wildcard, so I don’t know where to expect that one!
Tumblr media
Let’s start with the original!
It’s weird—I’ve been eating Kit-Kat my whole life, but this still tastes way different because of the quality of chocolate in the UK (vs US where I grew up). Still very good.
Tumblr media
Next up: Hazelnut Spread (May as well get it over with)
(Also pro tip: don’t hold on to a bare Kit-Kat in warm weather for too long when trying to get that damn foil set up!)
Yeah, not a fan of this one. Pretty hazel-nutty. Even my wife, @devilishmess (who is a Nutella fiend) doesn’t like it. (Not that it makes my opinion stronger, but hey I like name-dropping someone more internet famous than me!)
Tumblr media
Next up is Dark (66%)
My limit on dark chocolate is 70%, so this is damn close.
(I also made the foil prettier in this shot!)
That’s really nice! Very rich. Gives me that hit I like ;)
Favorite one sofar.
Tumblr media
Next up is Dark Mint (66% dark as well)
Oh boy, you can SMELL the mint coming off this one!
And you FEEL that peppermint as you bite into it. It’s that mint that cools your whole breath.
Gonna hafta give it a beat before trying the rest, cuz this mint is lingering.
Tumblr media
Next up is Orange!
(Honestly, I don’t know why I’m taking these in-half pictures of each one—they all look the same!)
The orange is pretty strong in this one! Not in a bad way—it goes right up to the point of being too much and takes a step back. Very tasty!
Tumblr media
Honeycomb up next!
This one smells strong when you open it up, but much more subtle when you eat it. It has a mild coffee-like taste to it, even. I’m used to Honeycomb having chunks to crunch, but this only has the flavor. It’s nice :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Last up is Zebra!
The dark chocolate in this one is apparently 39.5% and is a whole layer on the underside.
It’s nice. I like the mix of white and dark.
Only one I didn’t care for was the hazelnut one. But if I were to rank them:
Dark/Dark Mint (depending on the mood)
Orange
Honeycomb
Originalz
Zebra
Glass of water
Hazelnut spread

Today we’re trying Knoppers!
Tumblr media
Found this at our local grocery store—it comes in a 4-pack. I’ve had it for a bit, so I don’t remember how much they were (I remember they weren’t much).
It looks like they’re wafer with hazelnut chocolate filling—and that’s enough chocolate for this blog! (Even if I’m not a fan of hazelnut chocolate)
Tumblr media
They come square, but I chopped it diagonal to take an artsy picture ;)
When you first open the package you can smell the wafer right away—reminds me of Kit Kat’s or Little Debby peanut butter wafer things
Tumblr media
It also looks like there’s chocolate on the bottom—which is a good idea! (Since you’ll taste the chocolate first)
Biting into it is really dry at first. You can feel yourself crunching through each layer. And as you chew it together you can taste it all mix together and any dryness goes away.
Very smooth, subtle flavor here. If I were to compare it to a Kit Kat, I’d say the Kit Kat has twice the flavor. It’s tasty and I would get again if I was craving a light wafer snack :)

Today we’re trying SIX different Digestives special flavors!
Strawberry Cheescake
Lemon Drizzle
Christmas Pudding
VIB - Classic Caramel Bliss
VIB - Luscious Blood Orange
VIB - Heavenly Chocolate Hazelnut
Tumblr media
Starting with the Strawberry Cheesecake!
They’re very nice! The strawberry is bolder than expected (I was expecting really mild).
It seems the strawberry flavor is in the wheat bit (instead of the chocolate)
Tumblr media
Next up is the Lemon Drizzle (don’t laugh: I either split them in half or thirds haha)
The lemon in this one is more subtle. Tasty!
Tumblr media
We move on to the Christmas Pudding
Tumblr media
This one is smaller than normal ones (the VIB ones are as well)
Some good flavors in this one: cinnamon, raisin?, etc. It’s pretty much exactly Christmas Flavor. It’s a good one—not an every-day one, but good :)
Tumblr media
Classic Caramel Bliss is up next.
I have a suspicion that these are the normal Caramel ones, but with the smaller cookie.
Aaaaaand yup it is. This is a go-to snack for me (it’s good movie snackage because the caramel somehow makes less crumbs)
Tumblr media
Lucious Blood Orange—I’m looking forward to this one
Tasty! It has the caramel texture of the last one with a subtle blood orange punch. Delicious!
Tumblr media
I’m not the biggest fan of hazelnut, so I don’t know how I feel about the Heavenly Chocolate Hazlenut
Eh, it’s ok. It’s not disgusting, but I don’t think I want any more.
Overall, my favorites gotta be the orange and lemon ones. The caramel one is a personal favorite, but I don’t like that they made them smaller (in a smaller pack too) and more expensive!

Today we’re trying these KitKat mini eggs.
These were 2/£1 at Morrison’s
The package shows a lot of crunchy bits inside, but it’s not even half that in reality
Tumblr media
They’re not bad. Nothing amazing. They’re mostly soft, easy to chew, can eat a whole one in one bite, and mildly crispy.
I’ll probably put my £1 towards other chocolate in the future, but that’s not stopping me from devouring this whole bag in one sitting (damn individual wrappers getting in my way!)
Interesting note: the ingredients list shows that only the shell is actually chocolate—the rest is “chocolatey filling”

Today we’re trying the Milka Peanut Caramel
Got this at our corner store for 2/£1
Tumblr media
This is nicely gooey and peanut-y!
It reminds me of a Snickers with no nougat and more goo. The peanuts are extra crunchy, too.
Definitely one I will be getting as a go-to bar :)

Tumblr media
Today we try these Cadbury Crunchy Melts with Oreo Creme
These were at ASDA in a special standup display by the fire exit for £1
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are crumbly/crunchy with a gooey inside and chocolate chips on top. The goo is Oreo-flavored and really sweet! It works, though.
There’s a nice balance of super-sweet goo to cookie. If anything: the chocolate chips are a tad too crunchy, but that’s the only downside.
Actually, the other downside is that there’s only six of these in the packet. We destroyed them almost instantly.
Overall, very tasty! Will grab again ;)

Today we tackle Toblerone with “gingered candied orange peel”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love Toblerone (the coconut is a personal favorite).
I bought this from Tesco for £4 (was £5)
Tumblr media
The orange is really subtle (probably because it’s orange peel) and chewy (again: peel) and nice. I don’t really taste the ginger at all.
I like it. Might not jump at it over other delicious flavors, but I will in no way pass it up if offered!

Today I am trying these two Twix variants: Salted Caramel and Winter Spice
These came out for the festive season 2020 and I’m really excited for them!
I picked these up at our corner store for 80p
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I like this one
Tastes of salted caramel throughout with chunky salt rocks (but not so big as to be a big crunch).
Would buy again as a normal snack :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Immediatly smells like gingerbread, and has the same taste!
I’m not normally a fan of gingerbread, but this is pretty nice. It has a spice that lingers in the back of the throat that’s pleasant.
It’s pretty clear that Twix is looking to tap into nostalgia with this one.
Tasty, would buy again but only on special occasions.
