#poll #not art #hello this is definitely not me being salty about people lacking basic courtesy towards artists #like when someone took my art that had the ''do not repost' watermark and they cropped the watermark out before reposting #or when any youtuber musician puts my art in their video without asking for a permission let alone giving me the credit #OR that one time when the biggest manga publisher in my country held a drawing contest #and the under 12 year old category winner won with a piece directly copied from art i did #and the publisher only contacted me to ask if i had given them the permission to do so. no apology whatsoever #so yeah. maybe i am a bit salty about art thievery. just a bit.

ANNOUNCING: a Storm Rider rerelease

What is this all about?

-This is a new release of my comic Storm Rider that ran from 2015 to 2019.

What's so special about this new release?

-The first 100 pages are completely redrawn (in 2017-early 2018) and are provided with a new translation that is more accurate than before, and there are important translation notes that can help understand certain things better.

There is one particular piece of foreshadowing in the story that I completely omitted from the original translation because it was untranslatable, but now I included a note that helps people to notice it.

If you've had these page redraws done for so long, why it took you so long to release them?

-I redrew these pages as part of a project that never came to be, and I had them sitting around unreleased for so long because I never had enough time or motivation to translate them in English.

This is something that I've been meaning to do for so long, but unfortunately couldn't until now.

What is this comic about?

-Maybe give this trailer a watch and see for yourself? It's only two minutes long.

(I spent like 7-8 hours just editing this video alone, it should encapsulate the feel I had for this comic when I created it)

How different are these new redrawn pages from the originals?

-Just take a look:

The old version will still be around, but I hope you'll at least check out the 100 redrawn and retranslated pages! I put a lot of work into them.

I'll be honest, these poll results are not something I wished for.

For a while I've felt like my art posts have leaned too far into quantity over quality, and I had thought that people agreed with that — based on the interactions on the posts, at least.

The thing is, while art has been and still is a huge form of self-expression for me that I would not trade for anything else in the world, I feel very differently about sharing that self-expression online. I do not care about the numbers or well my posts perform, and I could care less about being "popular" online. Such trivial things are not something I am after.

What I care about is if my work resonates with people, and leave a positive impact on them, how little that impact may be.

And for quite a while it has felt like I have not been able to leave such an impact on people. With the way social media is nowadays, it feels like people are far more distant now, and I am not able to reach them like I used to.

I would like to remind everyone that I've been posting my art online since 2007. The times were very different back then, but one thing that I remember back then was that you could feel the presence of the other people, and be able to reach them easier than you do now.

I just miss those simpler times when you could actually talk to people and know what they thought. See the positive impact you left on them.

If I can make someone smile with my work, my job done.
