Okay no because why is Yasmine in the background of virtually every single dramatic/heart wrenching scene in season 2? Mother Superion and Camila mourning the deaths of their sisters in the Madrid location? Yasmine: š§āāļøMother Superion and Camila crying after finding out they lost Mary? Yasmine: š§āāļøThe conclave slaughter? Yasmine: š§āāļøBeatrice holding Ava after she thought her to by dead after falling off the building? Yasmine: š§āāļø The Avatrice kiss??? Yasmine: š§āāļø

Yall ever think about Hans watching the news after Ava and Beatrice left the Alps and were fighting Adriel and him seeing the livestream and wondering why his former boss is dressed like a nun and beating the shit outta everyone while his former coworker is floating down from the heavens like a gay second coming of Christ just to get her shit rocked by a demon with wings? Cuz i feel like he had the biggest āit all makes sense nowā moment and started a chant at the bar in support

what is it about that season one shoulder pat you love so much??
i have a bit of a fascination with what i call character thesis moments. theyāreā¦ these sort of pivotal, revealing scenes or even just (as in this case) a gesture that makes me fall head-over-heels for a character. and also understand them.
with ava, it was the beach run scene. for lilith, the grey hoodie scene where she asks ava ācan you forgive me?ā for mary it was the first scene, cradling shannonās head and shutting her eyes and the love in every inch of every gesture. (thatās the first sign i think that warrior nun is a story about love, and survival, and in not surviving but loving anyway).
now, iāll admit that i adored beatrice from āi thought sheād be a handfulā and āfaith is my businessā but franklyā¦ neither of those scenes show us who she is. i think the closest we get to HER is at the bus stop, where you watch her choose her friends over her duty, choose love over sacrifice (for the first, but not the last time).
and thenā¦ god, that shoulder slap. i canāt explain how it made me feel.
up until that point, beatrice is such a whirlwind of a character. sheās lethal, she faces down a gun with frightening disregard for her own life. she drops a tear onto shannonās cheek as she gasps out a very rehearsed goodbye. she catches ava when she slips out of that wall, she cries over an old journal and in all that time sheās fighting so hard to remain unseen.
and then, in one gesture, she reveals who she is. if you look closely, you see how fiercely beatrice fights to hold herself, but especially her hands, in check. they are either weapons or theyāre things she lets out with the greatest care. they are caring but also tentative, like moths desperately trying not to touch the flame.
if you look carefully you also see that beatrice canāt help but touch ava. she tries and tries, but then theyāre in the vatican and sheās suddenly this young, smiling creature trading puns, rushing through a cloud of dust to pry ava from the wreckage of her faith, from the arms of an angel. i just think, when i saw that shoulder slap i realised how much there was to beatrice.
sheās thisā¦ ball of contradictions. sheās a nun, she came up with Cruella de Jesus. sheās faithful, sheās queer, sheās resigned to the death of everyone she loves. sheās a weapon, and yetā¦ you look at her doing that slightly goofy shoulder slap and it betrays a sense of āi want to touch you and i donāt know what to do about it.ā and in that you realise that sheās everything you thought and sheās alsoā¦ mischievous? slightly boyish? a fool who is already more than half in love.
i remember feeling so fond of her, so suddenly, because out of the clear blue you realise that sheās drawn to this, to this girl who told her not to hate what she is, not to hate what she craves which is touchā¦ a certain something she doesnāt dare to name, but still she reaches out and THAT is beatrice to me.
sheās a pair of empty hands, a bottle of lightning, and for all her confidence, for all that she is undeniably so cool and calm under pressure, so absolutely lethal; sheās also young, and she doesnāt know what to do about what she feels. it terrifies her, fascinates her, makes her hands move almost of their own accord.
there is ava, who is the point around which she is supposed to rally. halobearer, holy, doomed. that little pat in the shoulderā¦ when i take it from avaās perspective iām in awe, because they donāt quite understand each other yet. itās a candleflame to the incandescence of their kiss but itās the first time bea reaches out not to catch her, or capture her, or carry her, but simply to touch.
itās a very blunt and beautiful reassurance and thatās what they are to each other; theyāre comfort, safety, acceptance. and that throwaway moment to me is the thesis of beaās character arc. itās the choosing to touch, to reach out, to hold onto what she loves.
and for ava itās sacred too. how many times in her life do you imagine sheās been touched the way beatrice touches her? the way she balances avaās jaw in her hands when she falls from the wall, smiling at her like sheās a miracle. beatrice who is the voice in the dark and the cold, who tears down a wall to reach her because she promised and she kept it. touch is everything to ava, and i think thereās just something so special about that moment; beatrice just saying, wordlessly, āyouāre good, youāre here, iāve got your back.ā itās not condescending itās a gesture that i think demonstrates to ava that sheās not alone anymore, and it kindles the hope that she never will be again.

okay but i need the first warrior nun film to open like season two but it's ava and bea making out somewhere in a church and ava's narration is like, "bet you wanna know how i got here. yes, there's still a holy war coming, but i have something important to do first."
freeze frame. arrow pointing to bea labeled "something important."

Ah, just the Warrior Nun and her Sisters
-
So much to unpack in this series. I think I found my fav style of writing and it's definitely Simon's (Director) & his writers'.
Apart from contrasts, the show managed to discuss sensitive topics & I'm in love with it.
The show also emphasizes the concept of duality. You'd go from "Watch your language" to "Fuck that shit up" LOL Plus the show's humor is so dry I can't believe it's THAT charming lmfao.
Oh well yeah, of course, there's a healthy relationship in this show as well (#Avatrice) I was worried but their connection was surprisingly slow & steady. WenClair fans are waiting while Ava and Beatrice exist, and are canon & wholesome - give them a chance!

Thereās something soā¦ intriguing about Jackieās clip in the intro ā the throat cutting motion followed by a wink ā still being there long after sheās lost relevancy.
In both the modern timeline and the crash timeline, after the Yellowjackets eat Jackie, her importance to Shauna and the others is noticeably less. Thereās still remnants of her: the necklace, the new tradition, Shaunaās mention of her in her diary. But itās nothing like last season, where we knew we were going to lose her, but her presence haunted both timelines.
I just hope they keep Jackieās clip in the intro, because the feeling of not just seeing the Yellowjacketsā first victim, but have her wink at us like she does, loom over us every episode is beyond words.

I love Blake at the Battle of Haven. She doesn't know what the fuck is going on and why her team, their uncle, their old friends from school and this 14yo and a giant bee are fighting a big guy, the headmaster and these two exchange students at the Vytal Festival that she vaguely remembered. But she still takes a second to say her crush's name dramatically, quickly goes back outside to tell her ex to fuck off and immediately going back inside (dramatically, too, kicking a guy in the face) and joining her friends even though she still doesn't know what they're doing, exactly. So clueless and so brave about it.

thinking abt the beesā height difference tonight . yang would most definitely rest her chin in between blakeās ears to peak at what sheās reading and sheād be at the perfect height to constantly be giving her forehead kisses and sheād use her as an arm rest. and then blake would most definitely have yang pick her up (claiming itās because she canāt see but she just wants to be picked up by yang, cuz who wouldnt) and sheād like tiny in yangās hoodies and sheād trip wearing her sweatpants and sheād have to get on her toes to give her a kiss .
