In 2015, Coppy, a quirky animated copy machine office assistant, made its debut on Tumblr as an April Fool's Day prank, playfully mocking Microsoft Office's mascot, Clippy. Tumblr users embraced the character with open arms, generating a wave of Coppy-inspired fan art and expressing disappointment when it vanished from the platform the very next day.
In honor of one of our most beloved character we created this vinyl YouTooz character. You can learn more about it below.
ā¦Okā¦Okā¦Letās take a look at some of that animation thatāsĀ āJust for kids,ā shall we?
Adventure TimeĀ is a series that touches a lot on philosophical questions and theories, with one episode having one character askĀ āIf just being born is the greatest act of creation then what are you supposed to do after that?ā
Avatar: The Last AirbenderĀ dives deep into having characters question what is right and wrong when dealing with a horrible evil. Like, is it better to harm anybody,Ā even the most innocent old man, just because their society is run by fascists? Should we torture those who tortured us? And should we really kill someone just because they are irredeemable? All hard questions, each with uneasy answers.
The Owl HouseĀ has a powerful antagonist whose goal is to commit genocide on an entire race of innocent people due to being raced to believe that said people are evil, thus stating that the most dangerous people are the ones who are prejudiced and ignorant.
CentaurworldĀ Ā has a scene where a man tries to drown an elk. No, Iām not kidding. That happened. It was on screen and everything.
EncantoĀ teaches a lesson on generational trauma, the pressures of living up to expectations, and stating that the best gift is being alive and having those around you.
And do I even have to say ANYTHING about Pixar?!Ā The Incredibles, Ratatouille, Up, Inside Out, Soul, and even Toy StoryĀ all have themes and morals that can speak to adults while also being simple enough for kids to understand.
But thatās just animation for kids. Letās talk about animation for ADULTS, shall we?
South ParkĀ takes a comedic view of our society, poking fun in the many ways itās broken.
The BreadwinnerĀ is a tense movie of a young, Afghan girl disguising herself as a boy so she can go out and make money so her family can survive.
InvincibleĀ has some of the most brutal scenes Iāve seen from a superhero series, including this moment with a train (youāll know it when you see it) that was so horrific that, when it cut to black for a second, I saw the look of pure shock and terror of my face reflected onto my laptop.
And Bojack HorsemanĀ isĀ the best adult-animated series Iāve ever seen because it tackles issues made for adults. Things like opium addiction, depression, the struggles of being asexual in a sex-driven world, and telling one truth that most adults need to hear. The truth that, in this life, you canāt live happily ever after. Youāre alive, always have another problem to deal with, and then youāre dead. Thereās no point, in this plane of existence, when youāre happy forever and ever. Because lifeās a show, and when everybodyās happy, then there canāt be a show anymore.
Animation. Is not. For kids.
Animation is a medium that is often geared towards kids. And the reason why people keep saying itās for kids is because they focus on the kids stuff and refuse to look at how mature some animated movies and shows can be.
Thanks for letting me know! I'll be sure to learn about other dog-whistles to ensure I don't use one again. Sorry about that.
It honestly seems like Thomas has shifted the purpose of the SS series. What started as a series that questions identity, motivation, moral conflict, etc., has turned more into a brand. This is so disappointing because this series is appropriate for young audiences to watch, and the discussions the episodes touch on are so important for them to think about.
I understand that he is his own person and can pursue different interests, but from my perspective, it doesn't seem like he cares about those discussions considering all the branding and ads lately.
Not to mention how his aversion of criticism contrasts with the open-minded nature of most of Season 2. If he doesn't like being considered a role model for young people, he should be honest about it.
i cant believe thomas is the worlds first gay capitalist š /j
and yeah itās really weird that the series touches on like. difficult truths? and its creator (co-creator if you consider joanās influence) is like. deathly allergic to any remotely critical comment about the state of said series. like. idk if im wording it right like at all but do yāall know what i mean??
People seem to not know how old writers are when they make their stories.
Stephanie Meyer wroteĀ TwilightĀ in 2003, atĀ age 29
Cassandra Clare started writing Mortal Instruments in 2004, at age 31
Rick Riordan published Percy Jackson & the Olympians, the book about 12yrolds, at age 41
George R. R. Martin published A Game of Thrones, at age 48
You can't even use the "but fanfiction isn't real writing" argument because of how many fanfiction turn movies there is. They are clearly enough of a story to be made into published books.
Anna Renee Todd's After series was a Harry Styles fanfiction, which was published in 2014, when she was 25
E.L. James Fifty Shades of Grey series was a Twilight fanfiction, which was published in 2011, when she was 48
Mortal Instruments was a Harry Potter fanfiction.
Why must they act like After someone turns 20 their life ends, like people can't have hobbies???
can't believe it's 2022 and we still have posts around about not overusing "said" like seriously? Imagine if I made a list of words to use instead of "and." wouldn't that be stupid?
Once again, some people has started throwing b*llshit towards Thomas and team because they found out the new video was going to be an ad. Iām gonna say, if youāre gonna critizice Thomas and team, at least be fair about it.
He warned from day number one that the new video was not going to be content and made very clear we shouldnāt expect the finale yet.
One more thing. Ads usually must remain secret until the sponsor gives permission, thatās something bound by contract. Thatās why he hasnāt said it was an ad, but anyway, complaining about these ads seems kinda petty to me. Because these ads, along with the contributions of us on Patreon, are what are funding the series youāre supposedly so starved of, a series that, thanks to our fundings and the ads you hate so much, you can watch for free. A series that Thomas has been producing lately literally without a team at all, as he has recently rellocated his office in Orlando and he only has Quilās help to produce the series, all the rest of the old in-house creative team is long gone or far away and the people heās working with lately like videographers, sound and light engineers, etc, is hired for specific projects and is not available 24/7 for him, and that costs money. Sometimes I think you forget Thomas is not Disney or Universal and you canāt ask of him and what is left of his team the same things youād ask of a supercompany like these which have millions of money at their disposal and thousands of people working for them. It simply is not fair to do so.
And if youāre so starved of Sanders Sides, I think complaining about ads is counterproductive to get more Sanders Sides more often. Ads mean budget and the less budget the team has to work, the slower itās gonna take to finish production, or even worse, the closer the ultimate cancellation of Sanders Sides gets. The way some people is acting sometimes makes me thing thatās really what they want, to get Sanders Sides cancelled, because theyāre saying and doing everything they can to achieve that. Thomas and the little team that is left have been working non-stop for months on the finale as well as on other projects at the same time. Itās not up to us to argue about how he should make *his* series, emphasis on the word āhisā, because the series is his property, not ours. As he said in a Patreon livestream, and thatās the only thing Iām gonna quote because Patreon livestreams are secret, but I can tell you he talked long about it, this series is a āvery personal projectā of his. As he also said heās putting himself out there on the series, heās not gonna make it any other way than how he thinks itās appropriate to release it. I get that the wait is being long, but thatās the way it is, I donāt want Sanders Sides to be made of worse or cheaper quality just because some people are unable to wait. Whatever time it takes, itās certainly being used for the benefit of the series. And by the way, Thomas has also said that he canāt work well under that kind of pressure, so it would be better if you stopped doing that, if you really want Sanders Sides to be made faster, that is.
And we as viewers who get the content for free and have no saying in whatever way his team manages this work because itās not our business to do so, have two options: we can be patient and wait until the content comes out when itās ready or move on and stop following Thomas and the series altogether. No one forces anyone to stay here, or to stay only here. Thereās a lot of content out there by a lot of people to make up for the wait and a lot of such content is also free to enjoy. And I bet that, as it happened everytime before, whenever the episodes are released, most of those who are complaining now and saying theyāre moving to other places are going to come back and say what a great episode it was and what a great team they are, as if no time had passed, because some people only cares about the content and apparently donāt give a d*mn sh*t about the human people behind the content, and thatās a shame. Sorry for the ranting, but I just got fed up of so much unfairness.
