The original post I found this from was a terf so I'm just reposting the link, so I don't have to reblog from a terf active in the radfem community. I don't have as much context as the terf op, because they were an indigenous person living in this area but!
Please consider signing this petition
or at least checking it out!
for some context, lots of Serbian indigenous land is going to be destroyed to create a mine, destroying it's nature with it. this has been happening a lot lately, in lots of different countries. They could really use some help and as of me posting this, it roughly has 108,700 out of 125,000 signatures.
So!! Please help out some indigenous people protect their home lands
We’re at $745/$1k for The Toyin Project #DoSomethingForMe Grant to support 10 Black LGBTQ+ individuals with homelessness, rent, food, transition goals, mental health treatment, escaping abusive/unsafe environments, medical bills, etc. Looking for a few more donors to reach our goal! Im giving $100 to 10 people each so I only need enough to support 3 more people! This grant is named after Oluwatoyin Salau, the Black activist who lost her life tragically and nobody helped her when she needed it.

Making these posts is not how I want to spend my time. I would much rather focus on Asian American power, joy, resilience, and resistance. No community wants to be defined by the worst things they’ve experienced. This series isn’t a submission to the oppression olympics or a pity party. I want to educate people in order to help connect the dots so we can see how the same kind of racism twists and evolves over time, but hasn’t gone away. Some events you might recognize, like the Chinese Exclusion Act, or Executive Order 9066 which was signed 79 years ago on this day. I hope everyone who reads these simply has a better understanding of Asian American history, and aims to do better now that you know better.
As Malaysia is still undergoing MCO, we see more news of Orang Asli of Peninsular Malaysia and the Indigenous people of Sarawak and Sabah losing their homes due to projects related to deforestation, logging, development and the like.
So, I decided to highlight a few organization/movement that would appreciate your swift support:
1. SAVE POS LANAI — a coalition pushing for the government to STOP the rare earth mining project that would not only harm our environment but also be stealing Orang Asli’s land. The forests and rivers of Pos Lanai are a life source for the Semai Orang Asli community, but over the years the forests and rivers have been repeatedly abused by agricultural activities in Cameron Highlands, Pahang. Now, the Semai Orang Asli are headed into a legal battle with the Pahang State Government. They are fighting for gazettement of their forests and home so that they have permanent protection.

2. Kampung Berengoi vs The YP Olio Sdn Bhd Plantation Project — When the Orang Asli of Kampung Berengoi in Malaysia signed a contract to receive new homes, what the illiterate villagers didn’t realise they were consenting to was a major logging project that would see hectares of forest on land they claim as indigenous chopped down. If the villagers were able to read the letter, they would have seen it stated that they “have no objection to development project on YP Olio’s land”, the nature of which was left unspecified. This showed how the Pahang government took advantage of the community’s illiteracy. Concerned groups are criticising the project for destroying habitats of endangered wildlife and displacing indigenous people. At least eight Orang Asli families, including Omar's, live in two villages on the site.

How did Orang Asli who have been protesting a plantation project in Pahang end up signing consent letters? (includes a voice recording of one of the people affected, Omar Rani, answering questions on his consent letter for the logging project)

3. Penang fishermen and marine biodiversity vs Penang South Reclamation project (PSR) — PSR is a massive reclamation project to create three islands off the southern coast of Penang island. This project would threaten a nesting ground of vulnerable Olive Ridley turtles and a marine biodiversity hotspot. This marine biodiversity hotspot would be destroyed by the PSR project to create three artificial islands for the development of condominiums. The project would also endanger the livelihoods of fishermen who have been fishing sustainably for generations. The project is expected to generate 3.2 million tons of carbon emissions annually.

i don’t know how to say these things in a nice way because my nerves have been fried for quite some time and i’m basically running on empty right now but i wanted to write about anti-asian sentiment, and more specifically, how people can address it.
there are a lot of posts with a lot of notes going around coming from very well-meaning people about how we can combat anti-asian sentiment by fighting cultural appropriation or stopping insults about food and whatnot, and i understand the impulse, but the fact is this: anti-asian sentiment is rooted in white supremacy, in colonialism, and in imperialism, and those things cannot be stopped by simply teaching people to say our names correctly.
if you want to end anti-asian sentiment, we must end white supremacy and imperialism. if you want to end white supremacy and imperialism, you must learn about the histories of white supremacy and imperialism— not only in asia, but across the world. it is crucial that we, as asians, unite ourselves with other colonized people to fight these systems. i invite others to move past the badge of allyship and truly learn what it means to commit yourself to the fight against white supremacy and imperialism, and then do it.
now, more specifically: when we think about the 8 people who were killed in atlanta this week, we understand that they were targeted because of their asianness, yes, even knowing that all who died were not asian— but they were targeted also because of their class, the line of work they were in, their migration status, their gender. the women who were murdered were at particular risk because they were working-class migrant women who worked in a massage parlor, and who may have been s*x w*rk*rs. this is absolutely crucial to understand! you cannot understand their deaths as being separate from war crimes committed by the united states in vietnam, or from the sex tourism industry in southeast asia.
even when we think about the spate of attacks on asians on the street, or at the train station, or on public transit, who is being targeted? the majority of these attacks are on working-class, low-income migrant elders. there are other attacks, still, that i have heard that have targeted asian women specifically. these, too, are acts of violence tied to white supremacy and imperialism. so understanding this– if a white man approaches me, or my sister, or my migrant neighbors with intent to harm us, what good does it do if he is educated about how to pronounce my name, or if he knows how to use chopsticks respectfully?
these are just some thoughts i am having that i think are missing from the conversation, at least on this website. thank you for reading if you have gotten this far. i hope this makes sense. i truly pray for the downfall of imperialism every single day.
