This is a David Wymack appreciation post

He was abused as a child, and very often, past abuse is either used as a villain backstory when it comes to adults or is never mentioned at all, but with Wymack, we see something completely different and it is so important. Despite the absence of having an adult to rely on or trust as a child, he grew up to be one of the more reliable, trustable characters I have ever come across, to the extent that kids who have been abused (Neil, Kevin, the cousins, almost all the foxes, really) come to see him as a refuge. His character is a testimony to the fact that someone who has been a victim of abuse can grow, can heal, and can become a pillar for others. Because he could’ve been a bitter old man, he could’ve decided that others didn’t deserve what he didn’t get, but instead, he chose to love. He chose to be the person he had needed when no one he had been there for him.

And he showed us that, no matter how broken we are, we can be that person too.

TMI but I didn't know how to handle a pomegranate until I was 17 and alone in my hostel for the first time in my life. I was used to eating the red smol edible stuff my parents used to give me. Cue back to me calling my mom and asking her how do I fucking open a pomegranate. Do I crack it like a coconut or slice it like an apple tf am I supposed to do with this dum fruit. Bet she questioned her upbringing.

I don't think my parents realize how much they've helped me each time they told me "It's not your fault". Every time I fuck up, I am able to go to them because I know they're solace in every form. I've cried dropping on the floor knowing I was wrong but they've told me that there's nothing I can't do right again. So good at parenting sometimes I forget I'm their first child and it's their first time being parents.

ok im not done the way arthur is a phoenix is THEE single most romantic, poetic thing tj could've picked like. here is a man who has not only risen himself from the ashes of his childhood, but also risen the house and the island, too, and turns the whole thing into a place where all the rest of the characters get their rebirths. and then the fact that he's made of fire, literally, but then that he's also just so warm, full of burning passion for doing what's right and being a good person im just. the more i think abt it the more i go absolutely batshit
