Codex-style plate with scene of two nude women dressing a figure who may be the Maize god. All three stand in water in which swims a fish above an anthropomorphic and skeletal waterlily plant. A small hole was drilled in the center of the plate. The plate’s exterior wall is decorated with four different quadripartite, flora.-like motifs, each separated by four wide red bands of paint. Portions of the imagery have been repainted in modern times, especially that in the center area of the plate.

Chapter 3
People were screaming.
No.
Just one person.
But their screams reverberated through the ground and trees. Through Carter’s chest, through his mind. Carter didn’t know where he was or why he was there. The woods were misty and unforgiving around him. The darkness lurked around him like a threat. All he knew was that he had to get whoever was screaming. He had to save them. He had to tear apart whoever was hurting them. Carter’s purpose honed into a single fine pinpoint of light guiding him through an unfamiliar world.
