Everything Tayshia, Kaitlyn Said About Katie's ‘Bachelorette’ Journey

Seeing roses! Tayshia Adams and Kaitlyn Bristowe had a front row seat to Katie Thurston’s journey as the Bachelorette, stepping in for Chris Harrison for season 17.

Us Weekly confirmed in March that the season 11 Bachelorette and season 16 lead were guiding Katie’s season after the longtime host stepped back amid backlash for his comments about season 25 contestant Rachael Kirkconnell, who came under fire for her racially insensitive past.

“Their role is more experienced girlfriends to Katie and experienced contestants to the guys,” a source told Us Weekly in April, noting they were “brought in at the last minute” to fill in for Harrison.

During an exclusive interview with Us ahead of the June 7 premiere, Katie confirmed she didn’t know Tayshia and Kaitlyn were going to be part of her season until she arrived at the New Mexico resort.

“I thought, maybe, there’d be people helping with dates, you know, here and there, but I certainly did not expect to have both of them there with me the entire time,” Katie explained. “And so I think I was just, like, so overwhelmed. you see [me], like, crying of relief and happiness and excitement to have them there to help me.”

A second source told Us that Tayshia and Kaitlyn “had to learn how to cohost” after Harrison had the job for nearly two decades. “It’s taken time. They’re lovely to work with and they get along with the crew,” the insider said. “It’s just completely different with them cohosting.”

Katie, meanwhile, credits the two women for helping her stick out the journey when it got tough, admitting she nearly quit.

“I was at my lowest and really wanted to leave,” the former bank marketing manager said. “And if it wasn’t for the amazing women who have been Bachelorettes before helping me navigate that, I probably would have. And so, I’m so thankful for all of them.”

She added, “They gave me different advice, but, [both pieces of advice] stand out. Kaitlyn said, ‘Don’t fall in love with one person on the first night, be open.’ And then Tayshia was the one who said, you know, ‘Surrender to the process. Trust the journey.’”

A new promo video for the upcoming series Loki was unveiled by makers on June 6. Marvel Cinematic Universe has apparently confirmed that the God of Mischief, played by Tom Hiddleston, is gender-fluid. For the unversed, Loki is traditionally believed to be male but the character is best described as bisexual and gender-fluid in the original Norse legends. The myths unfold many tales in which the villain took to a female form, at times remaining a woman for years.

The new information was revealed via the file placed on a table that the Time Variance Authority (TVA) has on the supervillain, Loki Laufeyson. The document shows fluid listed under the ‘sex’ section. The featurette opens to Loki being forced to work with the TVA. The series will follow the adventures of a surrogate version of Loki who fled in Avengers: Endgame with the Space Stone when the Avengers went to recover it in the immediate reverberation of Battle of New York. Loki cast also stars Owen Wilson, Sophia Di Martino, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Richard E. Grant. The new MCU series, created by Michael Waldron, premieres in India on Disney+ Hotstar Premium on June 9.

Israeli actress Gal Gadot takes over Burj Khalifa

Activists have called on National Geographic to drop Israeli actress Gal Gadot from hosting future programmers following its recent documentary series called Impact. The series "follows the powerful stories of six women who are making an extraordinary impact on their communities around the world."

However, the fifth episode has been criticized by activists who found it ironic and inappropriate for Gadot to be highlighting the plight of indigenous people when Israel is a settler colonial state. She served in the Israeli military and is active on social media about her pro-Zionist stance.

Among those calling for Gadot to be dropped is BDS activist and national co-founder of Code Pink, Ariel Gold, who shared a petition on the website. "Gal shouldn't be speaking on indigenous rights, as she directly took part in displacing Palestinians in Palestine. Tell National Geographic to stop working with her!"

Denying Palestinians even a shred of compassion by refusing to acknowledge them and their suffering is a common tactic employed by their oppressors.

Many felt the comments were insensitive for not acknowledging the Palestinians as a people, while others pointed out Gadot's role in the military and her support for the apartheid state despite its genocidal policies in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.
