Two ongoing digital games bundles are offering more than 200 tabletop RPGs (among video games, soundtracks, books and other goodies) in order to raise money in support of the Palestine Children’s Relief Funds. The Palestinian Relief Bundle is being hosted on Itch.io, while the separate TTRPGs for Palestine Charity Bundle is taking place on Tiltify. For $8, the Palestinian Relief Bundle is offering nearly 400 total items, 103 of which are tabletop RPG systems, supplements and adventures. Mapmaking game Ex Novo is joined by the paranormal gunslinging satire FIST: Ultra Edition, along with Takuma Okada’s celebrated solo journaling game Alone on a Journey. Weird and dirty iconoclast game about money, the mind and everything else, Greed by Gormenghast is also on this list and is well worth a look. And if you’d rather keep it cosy and introspective, Cassi Mothwin’s Clean Spirit will get the whole group taking care of their domestic homes. The TTRPGs for Palestine Charity Bundle focuses solely on analogue games, providing nearly 200 tabletop games for $15. Please elaborate on the bea/ted booster/tora parallels

I feel like I yell about this all the time but I guess it’s actually been a minute. basically blue & gold and fire & ice aren’t carbon copies of each other but they are seemingly very intentionally paralleled relationships in JLI, they evolve at the same time pretty organically, and it just kind of seems like the team liked writing that dynamic so much they did it twice.

I think a lot of modern writing depicts Ted as the weary voice of reason pulled along by Booster but that is nooooooot the dynamic that exists in JLI. Which I think leads people to kind of view ted & tora as ‘the nice blue ones’ and booster & bea as the ‘the chaotic idiots’ which I think overlooks the narrative parallelism happening in two of my favorite JLI friendships

Ted & Bea are both very much the motion machine in their dynamic duos. Even when Booster and Tora are on board, in JLI it’s Ted and Bea’s big ideas that initially drag them into trouble. Ted wants money; Bea wants fame; they’re both willing to risk danger, unemployment, and humiliation to get it. They’re also both a lot less concerned with the emotions of others than their counterparts which leads to Tora & Booster having to follow along and clean up some of Bea & Ted’s messes.

Tora and Booster aren’t usually the ones pushing Bea and Ted into adventures, but they’re often the one who keeps things going. That’s often socially—Toras “good with difficult personalities” and we literally meet Booster in BG #1 in the middle of talking his way into a better payout for his movie—but there’s also plenty of times tora and boosters powers save the day or the narrative just values their ability to see the situation more clearly than their visionary counterparts blinded by big dreams. They’re also the two to “leave” with Booster literally leaving the team to go with Claire & the Conglomerate and around the same time, Toras page time becoming less focused on F & I stories and more focused on her relationship with Guy.

That period is also where we see Ted & Bea’s friendship given new focus since they become the default hijinx duo. I think it does Bea a disservice to put her into the ‘voice of reason’ role that belonged to Booster, but I still love these Motherfuckers as a duo so much oh my god. They’re such opposites on the surface but such similar people underneath, and how much they mutually annoy the fuck out of each other is so dear to me. They also keep being parallels throughout the 90s imo even past their friendship breakup that makes me so very very sad.

Tora & Booster are also dear to me. They’re just NICE to each other which is a contrast to JLIs many ‘I love you but you suck’ dynamics. I’ve talked about before how Booster and Tora meet at a time where she’s left behind her older brother and he’s just lost his younger sister, and I think their relationship works viewing it through the lens that they’re both looking for the same kind of brother-sister dynamic they’ve just lost.

I don’t have some grand wrap up here other than that Bea & Ted and Booster & Tora’s friendships are some of my favorites across the whole team, and I love any scraps DC will throw me since they aren’t getting focus anymore.
