The best part about having a split is having space between each half to set your things. The creator of this keyboard fully embraced that lol
I'm kind of obsessed with this thing. Truly stretching the bounds of what you can call a keyboard. Sure there's keys, but we've far departed from anything you could call a board. That's a keysomethingelse. A keyobject. I'm not sure what you would call it, but I keylike it.
Behold! My latest Bad Keyboard, the ShiftKeyBoard!
It's got nine buttons, and an 8-way gear shifter. You simply shift into different gears to select which sub-keyboard to use. Surprisingly easy to use, in fact.
Here's the layout I used:
Two more things:
1. the numbers under each gear position image are an implementation detail for the gearshifter I used, which I had on my guide image to help me code it.
2. the funniest thing I discovered is that you have to shift into neutral before reprogramming the keyboard or it wouldn't work right. I kept leaving it in first gear which caused problems, where it would only recognize 1 and 4th gear.
I've been doing so much copying and pasting recently and will be continuing to do so for the foreseeable future, and it's been doing a number on my left hand because I have to keep hitting Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V while stretching my fingers, so I decided to buy a three-key keyboard macropad that literally only has a Ctrl, C, and V key, designed specifically for copying and pasting.
This one was so stupid that it physically hurt to type FOUR LETTERS so no way was I getting to "Hello world". It's a Unary keyboard! You just tap as many times as the ascii character you want to send, then after a small pause, it types it. Even simpler than the binary keyboard!
I feel kind of phony because this account mostly reposts the works of others but there are so many good keyboard creators out there who deserve more attention for their work. I really hope people look into the source links I provide so those creators can get more support through official channels.
I have been mentioned on the keyboard jacket post a bunch of times (I love you thank you for thinking of me 💕) but I'm gonna repost it with an actual link to the artist's Instagram and site to give them a more useful credit. also there are more photos of it and they're all really cool
Here's the Hair Keyboard. I built this in 2020. It's basically just a relatively standard QWERTY membrane-dome keyboard, but it's got a very unique look, thanks to a lot of time spent with glue and fake fur from a hobby store. It took a LONG time to comb this thing into usability, and I cannot describe how it feels to type on.

Fun fact: Posting this is causing my music to skip. I think my computer can't handle even the image of the Hair Keyboard.
