Breya. 27 “If I find in myself desires which nothing in this world can satisfy, the only logical explanation is that I was made for another world." C.S. Lewis Romans 12:2
I voted we’ll get part of both, but the app will shut down before completion. But honestly, I also think there’s a chance that we’ll get both and the app will survive another year, but there will be a very significant quality drop in both books. Like I thought Blades 2 was bad. And there were other people who thought CoP 2 was worse than book 1. But I feel like it’ll be another situation where we’ll look back on those and be like “damn, we didn’t know how good we had it” even though some of the criticisms of both books were/are completely valid
Some interesting reading - latest Pixelberry review on Glassdoor by an ex-employee, giving their point of view of what's been going on at PB lately. Also says that those 200 people who were let go were around 75% of staff 😬
It’s definitely worth it because of the LI, not so much the mystery aspect because PB’s mysteries really aren’t that good. Regarding the 17+ rating, I don’t think book 1 had many sex scenes. The series overall certainly doesn’t rely on that aspect to carry it or shove them in your face. I think there were a couple of awkward and unavoidable moments in book 1 where you could tell they were trying to throw in something sex/kink related for no reason. But in comparison to everything else, they were very small and easy to forget about.
Overall, I think it was clear that the writers at least put some effort into the story/mystery outside of the romance. I personally just don’t think it was very successful with regards to being satisfying because of the way PB writes twists and has their characters go about solving mysteries. What I will say though is that I’m the opposite of those that have already responded to this post. I think book 2 was better than book 1, mostly because I found it a little more intriguing and the reveal of the culprit slightly better. But I think something most people would agree on is the fact that the romance with the LI is well written and honestly outshines the mystery aspect
Question: is Crimes of Passion worth the read? I like mystery and true crime and I’ve noticed that it’s a popular book but the 17+ rating concerns me. I’m concerned that it’s one of those books where the sex and romance is its only appeal and that it’ll be used to cover up bad plot and bad character arcs and I don’t vibe with that. Is the romance/sex the side dish or the main course?
I have about 500 diamonds saved up so far and I don’t want them to go to waste.
