A plant-based diet is put head-to-head with everything from switching light bulbs to not having another child. How does it do? Are the results accurate?
youtube.com/watch?v=W2X8ikpBZkM
An interesting discussion on responding to the assertion, "having children isn't environmentally friendly", and compares their impact to that of going vegan; Mic doesn't come solidly down on the issue on one side or the other, but seems to give a fairly balanced response. What do YOU think?

PLEASE HEAR ME ON THIS:
I love and value all of my fellow humans. I want what's best for you just as much as I want what's best for me. Your health and happiness are important to me.
Part of that is also that I believe you'll be happier alive than dead. I believe you'll be happier healthy than unhealthy. I believe you'll be happier not participating in the creation of new and deadlier global pandemics.
We KNOW the sources of these pandemics. It's NO mystery. We've known for the last century. Attached is a presentation from a decade ago giving irrefutable proof of the source of these diseases, and IN PARTICULAR he predicts the COVID plague we're presently suffering from.
If you eat animal's bodies or their bits, you're engaging in an activity that endangers my life. And your life. And the life of everyone you love.
I'm asking you to stop doing this for purely selfish reasons. You don't think other animals deserve the right to their own lives? OK; fine. But do you think *I* have the right to MY life? How about your loved ones -- do THEY deserve to have their life without YOU doing things which might kill them, or doing things which might give them life-long debilitating diseases?
I'm not asking you to "go vegan". I know that "vegan" is a scary word. Put it from your mind.
I'm asking you to go plant-based. If you value the life of anyone but yourself, then it's the only ethical thing to do. Please be the compassionate and conscientious person I know you are. Please stop doing things which destroy the world. Please be compassionate enough to value other humans lives, or failing that, please be selfish enough to value your own life. PLEASE go plant-based. PLEASE do it now.
If you need any help making this transition, there are tons of resources available. I'm one of those resources. Ask me anything. I love you enough to give you considerate and helpful answers.
Thank you in advance.

Because people care about arguing about the environment until they don't, right?
One of the great evils of the world is the lazy attitude that the next person will do whatever needs to be done, so why bother doing anything themselves.

Soy farming is AWFUL for the environment! ... Sooo let's make it sustainable.
"Soya Farming is Destroying the Environment" ~ Earthling Ed ~ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzOeOfNFpts
If someone who isn't vegan ever tells you that soy farming is an environmental issue, then absolutely agree with them. THEN explain the soya-agribusiness connection, and invite them to help you solve the problem.

How can we eat to combat dietary diseases and greenhouse gas emissions at the same time? Well, "it seems that very few people are aware that the livestock sector is the second largest contributor to equivalent GHG emissions -- but that's changing!"

The top environmental organizations and environmentalists should be fighting against the top threat to the environment, right? Well, they’re not. In this fact-packed, fast-paced video we’ll tally up everything wrong with environmentalism in 11 minutes or less.
"Everything Wrong With Environmentalism In 11 Minutes Or Less!!" ~ Bite Size Vegan ~ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZlTBC91L-x0
BSV: "It's time to get real: You cannot be an environmentalist and a non-vegan. The earth cannot sustain the way we eat. This is a fact and it's fast approaching critical mass. At this point, there is no reason to eat animals other than the purely selfish reason of not wanting to change our habits."

Young activist Genesis Butler meets with Oxford scientist Dr. Joseph Poore to discuss how animal agriculture causes 15% of greenhouse gas emissions worldwide.
"How Animal Agriculture Affects Greenhouse Gas Emissions & Climate Change" ~ Beyond Carnism ~ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AuEWOwC36N4
Turns out that if you change your diet, you don't just reduce that 15% to effectively zero, you also free up significant amounts of land. That land can store carbon, add that 15% to the carbon storage benefit.

In this one of several posts addressing the intersection of veganism and earth-centered spirituality, C.S. MacCath explores the physical realities that animal agribusiness has as well as the metaphysical implications that being vegan has with regard to the environment.

Did you hear about how bad veganism is for the environment? It's true*! Multiple journalists have reported on the study that says so!

Today's share carries with it the subtext that even if we agree with an article's heading -- maybe even ESPECIALLY if we agree -- we must always be diligent, and confirm that the claims being made are legit. Read the sources. Check snopes.com. Do the research. Be cynically skeptical at all times.
