AFTER THE FACT (QUEEN OF THE SOUTH EPILOGUE)

EXT. A VILLA HIDDEN BEHIND TREES AND BRICK WALLS

It is a peaceful scene, almost like a holiday ad. The sun is shining and birds are chirping in the background. A tall young man is cleaning a black car parked in the driveway leading to the villa. As he bends down, a gun in his belt is visibly glinting in the sunlight.

CUT TO:

INT. BEDROOM

Teresa (wearing a white robe) is sitting at her dressing table looking at herself in the mirror as if she is waiting for something.

After a beat she comes out of her little trance and reaches for a small golden case in front of her. She opens it. Inside are a handful of black hairpins.

CUT TO:

INT. SIMILAR LOOKING BEDROOM AT NIGHT(FLASHBACK)

Teresa is standing in front of a mirror. She is in her usual queen attire: white suit, hair pulled back tightly. The door behind her opens. Through the mirror she sees James slowly appearing in the doorway. She watches him intently as he remains standing there. Her eyes invite him in and he closes the door. She continues watching him in the mirror as he is slowly approaching her. When he stops close behind her, he reaches for her neck.

In a smooth movement he pulls the pins out of her bun hairstyle and watches her long curls fall over her shoulders. She finally turns around, looking deep into his eyes before her gaze drops down to his lips. His right hand is buried in her tangled hair while his left is reaching for the button of her low-cut blazer…

CUT TO:

INT. BEDROOM (PRESENT)

A small smile on her lips, Teresa takes two hairpins out of the case and pulls her hair in a lose bun while her gaze falls onto a framed picture standing on the table. It shows Pote and Kelly Anne smiling happily at their son.

Teresa stands up and walks to the window facing the entryway of the house. Looking down she sees James standing in the driveway talking to the man who was cleaning the car.

CUT TO:

EXT. DRIVEWAY – CONTINOUS

James (wearing sunglasses) gives a nod to the man next to him, who then walks away. James turns and looks up at the house, spotting Teresa in the upstairs window. The serious look on his face turns into a soft smile.

CUT TO:

INT. BEDROOM - CONTINOUS

Teresa returns James’ smile and watches him walk out of her sight.

The look on her face is now a little worried. She knows she will never really be able to feel safe. But when they are coming for her, they both will be ready.
