You turned your shared apartment upside-down, cleaning vacuuming every corner, dusting off every nook and cranny, and wiping all the picture frames and decorations your eyes landed on. There was one particular reason as to why you were vigorously cleaning and abusing your old vacuum. You needed to make an excuse to not do your thesis. By cleaning the whole apartment, you wouldn’t feel as guilty if you laid on the bed, scrolling through social media wasting your time.
You were now in your and your boyfriend’s bedroom. Starting with the small walk-in closet, you removed the clothes hanging from the rack, placing them on the bed. Then you started gathering the clothes that were haphazardly left on the floor, which, was mostly yours. After that you moved on to the neatly folded clothes, removing them from their respective places, so you could start dusting off the shelves. You had to reason to dust off the shelves, there was barely any dust, you just wanted to prolong the time you won't spend on your computer staring at words you could hardly comprehend.
You placed the feather duster on one of the empty shelves to get the step stool to take out the boxes on the top shelves. It contained memorabilia from both of your childhood, old yearbooks, photos from phases you two wished to erase from your memories, and yet you still found yourselves looking back to it when given the chance.
You opened the box, a wave of nostalgia hit you as you grab the photo that rested on top of the pile. It was the very first photo you had together during your seventh birthday. He had a wide grin, making his apple cheeks prominent and showing off a smile with a missing tooth. While you had a dot of icing on your nose, your arm slung on his shoulder giving the camera a wide smile.
Laughter left your lips as you recall a certain memory. The two of you were in third grade and it was the time he confessed his love for you.
"What are you laughing at?" His eyes scanning the messy room, since you left it as it is to look into the box's content.
"Re—remember back in third grade whe—when you—" You laugh kept interrupting your sentence, but even so, Seungkwan was able to understand what you were attempting to say.
"Don't continue." He scoffed rolling his eyes. "Do you know how embarrassed I was that time?"
"You should be. Your... Your pick up lines were—" You burst into a fit of laughter before you could even finish your sentence.
"Shut up before I make you."
-
The bell already rang and you still weren't there.
He kept looking back at your empty seat, with worried eyes wondering if you got sick to not be able to attend the class.
An unfamiliar person entered, greeting everyone a good morning. He introduced himself, saying that he was the substitute since your teacher had an emergency and couldn't come until after lunch. He said that your teacher didn't give any instructions so he just let everyone do what they wanted.
"Kwan let's play something." Said Mingyu, with Wonwoo behind him as he drags him around. He didn't seem to mind.
He perked up at the mention of playing. "What game?" He excitedly asks.
"I don't know." He spoke in a quiet voice. "Let's ask the other to play, and ask them what they wanted to play." He nodded at Mingyu suggestion, so he walked behind Wonwoo who was once again being dragged by Mingyu.
"Jeonghan let's play!" He cheerfully came up to the doe-eyed male.
He tilted his head to the side. "What game?"
"I don't know." Mingyu shrugged. "You pick." The innocent look the boy had was gone, his eyes sparkled with mischievous glint and his lips etched into a playful smirk.
"Truth or dare?"
"Sure!" Mingyu mindlessly agreed, not knowing what was about to come. But not Seungkwan, he wanted to back out, not liking the idea Jeonghan proposed. If he did back out he would have to deal with endless teasing from his close friends, with Jeonghan leading them.
Seungkwan, Mingyu, Wonwoo, Seokmin, Chan, Seungcheol, and lastly the devil himself Jeonghan gathered into a small circle.
"I'll start." Seungcheol volunteered. "Chan, truth or dare?"
"Truth."
"Is it true that you were the one who farted last week?" Chan lowered his head, and with a small nod, everyone started to react. Ews and laughter followed and after everyone got their turn to tease, Seungcheol gave him a pat on the back, comforting him.
"You!" Chan pointed at Seokmin. "Truth or dare." Seokmin displayed a proud smile.
"Dare."
"Write your name with your butt in front of our substitute." The proud smile he had faltered, he looked to the teacher who was looking at the group in confusion after hearing the word substitute that came out of Chan's lips.
"Can I go for truth?" He requested timidly.
"No backing out." Jeonghan reckoned, which made Seokmin gulp. He stood up shakily walking towards the front table where the substitute was seated. He turned his back to him with his eyes closed and he started to move and wiggle his lower half, writing his name in the air with his butt as the pen.
Laughter once again erupted from the small group of little boys, the substitute was sitting there in confusion, wondering why he became a subject to your little game. He sat back down, with his ears and cheeks flushed red.
"Jeonghan truth or dare?" His voice was a little challenging, it seemed like he had an idea if Jeonghan chooses dare.
"Truth." Seokmin's face faltering, and with a pout, he complained.
"That's not fair."
"Choosing one of the two options you gave me is a fair choice." Seokmin slumped, deciding not to argue anymore because he would surely not win.
"Who do you hate the most?"
"You. Seungkwan truth or dare?" Seungkwan was startled with how fast it suddenly become, he took time to process everyone's laughter, Seokmin's whining, and Jeonghan's question.
"Truth?"
"You like Y/n right?"
"Dare."
"Confess your love for Y/n." Either option wasn't a good choice. He started to internally scold himself for not backing out sooner. He could deal with the teasing, but not the kind of teasing he will get after he answered the truth or did the dare.
"Now that you picked dare, you have to do it. Last option is the final choice, you can't go back to truth." His voice slacked open at Jeonghan's words. To which the other responded with a cheeky smirk.
"Come on Kwan its your turn to pick hurry up."
"I don't want to play anymore." He stood up, dusting his pants off before walking towards his chair.
"Even if you quit now you still have to do the dare Kwan-ah. Or else I'll do it for you." He couldn't understand how those threatening words Jeonghan's lips with a sweet smile. Knowing him, Seungkwan was certain he'd do what he said.
The next day came and Jeonghan's eyes were on him the moment you entered the door, signing him with eyes to go to you and confess. Gathering his courage he stood up, the bell was yet to ring, he had time.
"Y/n why were you absent yesterday?" His hands behind his back, fidgeting with his fingers.
"I didn't feel good, and I threw up a couple of times so mom made me stay home." He couldn't hide the worry from his eyes, but he was glad you're okay now.
"Oh okay uhm, at least you feel good now. And uh Y/n—" He was interrupted by the bell ringing. His eyes found their way to Jeonghan, and he was giving him a questioning look which he only shook his head to, making the other boy sigh.
Recess, another chance for him to confess, but you were surrounded by your friends, that he didn't know how to approach you.
"What are you waiting for?" Jeonghan came up from behind him, with Seungcheol tagging along.
"I'm shy, when she's alone I'll tell her." Jeonghan let out an annoyed grunt.
"If you don't tell her by the end of the day. I'll tell her."
Seungkwan started to chew on his pencil, his taste buds coated with the taste of the wood. He looked towards your direction, and you were silently doodling on the pages of your book, smiling adorably once in a while at the art you made. He can't do it at lunch, he didn't have enough courage to. So he decided to wait until the day was over, so he could confess to you peacefully under the biggest slide on the playground.
Jeonghan was starting to get impatient, and it took a lot of convincing to prevent Jeonghan from confessing for him during lunch. And at last Jeonghan's most awaited moment finally came. Seungkwan asked you to come with him to the playground and he was thankful that you didn't ask questions and just followed him. He leads Y/n under the slides and he stood there shifting from where he was standing every second.
"Why are we here?
"You're a cute-cumber because your a vegetable." He blurted in his panic, it took a lot of willpower for him not to smack himself right then and there. He was only embarrassing himself.
"Uhm... What?" Your head tilted adorable on the side in confusion. "Kwan are you okay?"
"Yes! Of course! I just... I like you Y/n. Not like a friend but I still like you as a friend of course, I could never hate you. But I like you, not just like, I like like you."
"Oh... Uh..." You stammered unsure how you'll respond to his messy confession.
"I'll give you my cookies during recess."
"You don't have to do that." You looked away from him, not wanting to see his face as you suddenly turned shy. "I like like you too." You confessed with a small voice, tucking a hair behind your ear. Which made Seungkwan put on a massive grin.
"Seungkwan and Y/n sitting on a tree K-I-S-S-I-N-G! First comes love, then comes the marriage. Then comes an abrupt tragic miscarriage!" Jeonghan sang from above you, sliding down followed by Seokmin.
"Jeonghan are you sure that's how the song goes." Seokmin questioned, confused as to why the cute song suddenly took a horrible turn.
"No, but I like this version better."
-
You two were now seated on the closet floor, scanning the old yearbook, looking for your photos. You first found him and you couldn't help but giggle.
"Look how chubby your cheeks back then. Mom used to always pinch your cheeks whenever you come visit."
"She still does." Both of his hands come up to his cheeks, massaging it softly.
"If I was my mom I would to that too." You slowly removed his hands, replacing them with yours peppering him with soft kisses, making a sweet smile appeared on his lips.

Inspired by a video I watched on tiktok
Sitting on the couch, scrolling through your phone, your feet on top of Jeonghan's lap, sitting with you on the other end of the couch he too was scrolling through his phone, while the movie you put on the tv played, acting as background noise. It's a Saturday afternoon and it's one of the rare days you get to spend your time all day with him. He's on break, meaning you have him for yourself for three days. It's not much but it's better than none. Usually, couples go outside on a date when their partner is not so busy, but you knew Jeonghan needed time to rest. You didn't plan anything on the days he's staying, wanting to go with the flow and do whatever that comes on his or your mind, if he wanted to go out then you would be happy to go out with him if he wanted to stay home your fine with it too. Of course, you didn't forget to, give him hugs and kisses at random times, not wanting him to feel neglected, and you didn't forget to mess around with him here and there, to see him smile.
"Y/n? How will you react if you caught me cheating on you?" the question caught you off guard. Was he messing with you? Or is he cheating on you? Raising a brow you removed your feet off his lap and sat up straight.
"Are you cheating on me?" voice teasing, lips etched into a cheeky smile, and your eyes a squint with a playful glint.
"Of course not! I just watched a video where they ask their partner how they would react if they caught their partner cheating on them and I got curious, I wanted to know how you would react if you caught me cheating."
"Should I act it out for you?" You stood up and went inside your shared bedroom and closed the door.
"Another man?? I KNEW IT." You said as you open the door with a pretend shock face, while Jeonghan burst out laughing. You went and close the door again thinking of a different response.
"What the fuck! That's not how you give a blowjob c'mere lemme show you." You said as you walk towards him, falling onto your knees halfway, not able to control your laughter. Jeonghan too was clutching his stomach as he laughs uncontrollably. He sat up straight and wiped the happy tears that escaped from his eyes. You went inside the room for the last time and took one of his sunglasses as a prop. You went ahead and open the door, placing your hand on your hip, shifting your weight on one leg, making your hips pop. Tilting your head down, you slowly lowered the sunglasses.
"I see, one of your homies huh? Good choice." You gave a thumbs-up followed by a wink and that's when the both of you completely lost it. He was on the floor while you held onto the door frame to stabilize yourself.
"You... What's... What's wrong with you." He managed to blurt out in between laughter.
Soon the laughter died out and the both of you were cuddled up on the sofa.
"This is why I won't ever stop loving you." He said and kissed you on your temple. Snuggling up to him, he held you close, with no intentions of letting you go.

Summary: It was hard for you to move on with his death. You turned into a workaholic, hoping that it will help you forget that his gone even for a moment. ARIA a project he started on was for you to continue, you stressed and work until it was finished and it was time for it to undergo deep learning. Volunteering to be the first one for it to observe, not expecting it to turn out this way...
-------------------------------------------------
It is my longest fic so far and I didn't expect how much of a slow writer I am that's why it took so long for me to update ㅠㅠ. I got inspired by that one gose where shua was an AI so yeah and I forgot to mention but ARIA was supposed to be ARAI since it stands for Advanced Robotic Artificial Intelligence but ARIA sounds better than ARAI so that's what I used even if what it means kinda does not make sense. I don't know if its angsty enough it was my first time trying to write a really angsty fic and I think the ending was a bit cliche so feedback is very much appreciated. You can send it anonymously through asks or simply leave a comment and if you like to check out a fic ive also recently released entitled Cheating on You click here. A Lee Chan x gn reader where the reader is a pole dancer. That will be all happy reading <333
--------------------------------------------------
Incomprehensible words piled up as you aggressively scratch out each one you wrote, harshly slamming the pen on your work table causing scraps you’ve crumbled to fall. Each passing second left you frustrated. Everything was supposed to be perfect; the advanced humanoid robot should’ve been done long ago with him being the head professor of the research. If only he didn’t die.
Joshua Jisoo Hong, a well-known scientist of your era but most importantly your boyfriend was shot dead when he refused a company that offered to fund the research in exchange for the AI. Frankly, the research didn’t need funding, his family own a hospital as well as different facilities, and had enough funds and see the research through and through, so they claimed that if they can’t have the AI then no one will.
Though they committed a mistake, they should’ve killed you alongside him, they shouldn’t have left you alive, then you wouldn't be suffering right now. Once you’ve updated the control system and the needed parts have arrived from Japan, the AI should be ready for testing.
“Professor?” A voice broke the silence in your mess of an office, books abandoned their shelves that’s placed on the wall beside the door and piled up on the floor, stacked folders of data scattered on your table and the overflowing trashcan that’s been left as is for possibly months. You couldn’t bring yourself to tidy up your workspace, not when you were stressed and still mourning even if a year passed.
“Sorry to bother you when your busy professor, but the package is here.” His head peaking from the door, eyes scanning your office room.
“Gather the rest of the team for me, Dr. Yoon and meet me at the lab.” You attempted to compose yourself once he left, combing your unruly hair and tying it up to a low ponytail and straightening up the wrinkled coat in which you failed, grabbing the metallic clipboard that contained the recent data, you left, locking the office door.
“Dr. Choi did the updates on his machine vision system went well?” The sound of your heels clicking on the floor as well as your stern voice is enough to intimidate some, especially those with who you weren’t close.
“Yes.” He answered shortly, going back almost immediately to the unfinished work he needed to tend to.
“Good, all he needs is to go under deep learning, and ARIA would recognize facial emotions.” You said as you crossing one out on the to-do lists on the sticky note on the top right corner of your clipboard since you have a tendency to forget what’s done and needs to be done.
“Dr. Yoon I need you with me to upgrade the control system, and Dr. Jeon do a quick test run on ARIA’s movements. Make sure his movements are fluid. We don't want him making unusual noise as he walk and move in a clunky way.”
“Yes, professor.” You motioned Jeonghan to follow you, entering a different facility to avoid distraction. It’s the facility Joshua often used when he needed to be alone and focus, you claimed it was yours ever since he died. Setting up a different desk opposite his to work on, not wanting to use his to keep it as it is and preserve his memory, you first contemplated on using the said facility but this is the only way you know to feel closer to him.
“Don’t you think you're overworking yourself Y/n?”’ He said as he walks behind you, matching your pace with ease with those long legs of his.
“Save that talk for later Dr. Yoon, we’re working.” You emphasized his title, to hopefully remind him to act professional around you.
The two of you reached the facility in no time, going straight to the desk you started on your work, opening the drawer you grab a folder that contained the notes you made.
“I’m just worried Y/n, ever since-“
“That’s enough Jeonghan. Focus!” A sigh left your lips, eyes stopped scanning the notes you made on a notebook for ARIA’s blueprint.
You felt bad for bursting out at him like that, he cares, and you know it because he is a friend before he became a colleague. Seungcheol, Jeonghan, Joshua and you have been friends since grade school, at a young age, the four of you found passion in creating anything, from making something stupid to prank someone to little experiments that left the teachers and your parents impressed.
It was the four of you who always ranked the highest, often fighting for the top position, none giving up for each one was as competitive as the other. You grew up together, went through ups and downs together, it has always been you four and now it’s only you three.
You attempted to stay in your office longer, to keep yourself occupied and forget about him temporarily. His death turned you into a workaholic. You convinced yourself that it is a way to cope, barely taking care of yourself in the process, so Jeonghan kidnapped you from your office with Seungcheol, dragging your kicking and fussing form to his car.
“I swear I’ll murder you two.” Slumping back to the backseat, you threw empty threats at them.
“Yeah, say that after ARIA is finished and when you’re well-fed. We’re dropping by the supermarket since you’ve been living off of instant noodles for the past weeks.” Seungcheol stated as he turns the wheel to the left, passing by the convenience store you frequently visit.
“You have no proof.” Crossing your arms under your chest, your eyes remained focus on the city streets, eyes lingering longer on shops and signs that caught your attention.
“Your apartment is littered with instant ramen cups Y/n. That’s enough evidence.” His statement tore your eyes away from the busy road.
“You broke into my apartment?” You knew well that giving Seungcheol a glare as he looks at you through the rear mirror won’t affect him, but it didn’t stop you from doing so.
“You gave us a spare key so technically no.” Jeonghan retorted in a matter-of-fact tone that annoyed you more.
“You went in without my permission.” The glare that was once focused on Seungcheol is now directed towards Jeonghan.
“Think of it as room service, you and your apartment are in a state of mess. Get yourself together Y/n. Once ARIA is finished you will have even less time for yourself.” Jeonghan scolded further, making you question if you’re with your friends or your parents.
Even after saying that you had no plan to pay for the groceries and left them to carry the bags of food up to the fourth floor of your apartment building, they did not complain nor whine about being tired after climbing up with multiple bags in each of their hands, because the elevator was under maintenance. They even went as far as organizing it in your fridge and cupboards, and with the clanking of pots and pans and knife hitting the cutting board as one of them chop the ingredients, it was easy to tell that they aren’t leaving anytime soon.
For a reason you don’t know, you felt calm, your apartment didn’t feel empty and you weren’t dreading to get out of there for the first time. Laying down on your metallic gray sofa, letting the presence of the two men hustling and bustling in the kitchen slowly lulled you to sleep.
Rubbing your eyes as you yawned, you kicked the blanket off your warm body. The apartment felt painfully silent, the clattering of kitchenware that filled the empty apartment can no longer be heard.
“Han? Cheol?” Calling out the males who you let in unwillingly, hoping that they would respond and didn’t leave while you were fast asleep, but no response was heard. The kitchen lights were still on so you stood, letting the blanket that was once draped on you fall onto the ground, making your way to the kitchen.
You found the two males you were looking for, both aggressively typing away on their phones and sending an occasional dirty look to each other. Standing in the doorway waiting for one of them to notice you, but instead, a thud followed by a hiss Seungcheol made was what you got, Jeonghan, on the other hand, had a triumph smirk etched on his face.
“What’s up with you two?” Your question broke the tension between the men, Jeonghan being the first one to stand up and greet you.
“How did our dearest best friend slept? I know you’re hungry. Seungcheol why don’t you set the table?” The death glare Seungcheol gave to him and the cocky smile Jeonghan had were the pieces that you needed to complete the puzzle of confusion.
“You just won an argument, didn’t you?” The taller male gave you one of his sweet smiles before walking toward Seungcheol and placing both of his hands on the seated man’s shoulder and giving it a harsh squeeze making Seungcheol wince, while he kept the sweet smile on his face.
“I’ve never lost.”
It’s a shame that you even cleaned up the guestroom just for them to sleep on the bedroom floor with nothing but a comforter separating them from the carpeted floor, saying that they will protect you from the monsters that are hiding under your bed.
It was a childish reason, but it somehow brought back the memories from childhood, when you knocked on the guestroom the three of them shared during a slumber party, crying after waking up from a nightmare. They stayed at your room guarding you in their half-asleep state, two of them on the floor on either side of the bed while the other guarded the door. It wasn’t a surprise when your sleep was disrupted by a commotion of their parents looking for their missing children when morning came.
You caught yourself smiling as you stare at the ceiling fan attached to the plain ceiling of your room, it’s been a while since you had a genuine smile on your face and even if you laid alone on the bed, you didn’t feel cold because for the first time in a year the thought Joshua not coming back wasn’t your company.
The fragrance of the sizzling bacon woke you, groaning when the sunlight from the bare window hit your eye directly, internally cursing at whoever drew the curtains. The open bedroom door allowed you to overhear the argument of the two about who was going to wake you up, each insisting that they are scared of you more than the other like they did not drag you out of the office like a sack of rice the day before.
Sitting up to attempt to wake yourself from being half-asleep before confronting the two and show them that none of them needed to awaken you. Instead of standing up as you planned, you fell back to your bed, snuggling up the blanket uttering five more minutes.
Seungcheol and Jeonghan had their heads down as you criticize the burnt slices of bacon on a platter. “For the record, Cheol was the one cooking.” The blond man’s statement made the other scoff in disbelief.
“That’s why I was asking you to wake Y/n up but you turned it into a pointless argument and now you’re putting all the blame on me?”
“You’re both at fault.” You moved some of the slices of bacon that piled up, to see if there’s at least one bacon that’s no burnt hiding underneath.
“He’s-“ The two tried to fight back.
“I’m right and both of you are wrong, shut up.” Joshua used to be the referee whenever they get into a quarrel, he was the best at calming down the two whenever they get too worked up on their debates while you quietly watch the disaster unfold, now the job of silencing the two are passed down to you.
Putting on a brunette wig and ARIA is complete; you took a step back to get a better look but tears blurred your sight. With one hand covering your mouth to attempt to muffle your cries, letting the tears fall. It’s as if he’s standing in front of you again as if he was still alive and breathing. Maybe changing ARIA’s avatar to Joshua’s face was a bad idea but regardless of what you thought, you were happy. It has been a week since Seungcheol and Jeonghan crashed at your place and since then you haven’t gone back to your apartment, busying yourself on finishing ARIA and you dare say that it was worth it.
“Hi… ARIA.” You hesitantly called, he opened his eyes, scanning your figure before giving you a smile.
“You must be Y/n L/n.” He confirmed with his somewhat robotic-sounding after his scan was finished. With fluid movements he walked towards you, crouching down to your level and studying your face. He was almost human-like, and if you didn’t know he was a robot, you’d think he was a normal human from afar.
“The room’s temperature is twenty-two degrees Celsius and you seem to be sweating, would you like me to lower the temperature?” Immediately wiping your tear-stained cheeks, you responded.
“They are not sweat ARIA, these are tears.” He lowered his head which left you in confusion.
“I’m sorry if I made you upset.”
“No, no, no, these are happy tears. I wasn’t sad… I was happy to see you complete.” His head raised and look at you with a smile, it was similar to the smile Joshua often gave you, and it didn’t help that he had his face.
“I’ll take note of that.” Standing back straight he remained silent, scanning and familiarizing himself with the surrounding.
“ARIA, follow me.” You took him to a room with nothing but a tennis launcher machine, you walked towards the corner of the room and took a racket.
"I want to test your motor skills.” You gently placed the racket in his hand. He didn’t have the lines humans normally had on their hands as his skin was made up of silicone.
“Yes Y/n.”
“It would prefer it if you refer to me as professor.” You corrected. Turning your back on him, you walked towards the ball launcher.
“I’m sorry professor.”
“It’s okay. Stand on the red x mark on the middle of the room and all you need to do is hit the ball that’s being launched.”
“Yes professor.” Obediently following your orders, he quietly stood on the mark you pointed out, waiting for further instruction you might give. You stood behind the ball launcher, pulling out your phone camera to record his performance, too lazy to go back and take the professional camera you should use to document.
“Are you ready ARIA?”
“Yes, professor.” He didn’t have a stance, he just stood there as he waits for the ball to be launched. You turned on the machine, a few seconds passed and the first ball was launched which he missed but he successfully hit the balls that followed. He’s fast enough to reach a moving ball and you didn’t fail to notice how his eyes were focused on the ball. You hit the stop recording button on your phone then turned off the machine. ARIA went back to the ‘X’ mark you pointed earlier when the balls started coming.
“I’m very pleased with your performance.”
“Thank you, professor.” The smile that used to make your heart wildly hammer on your chest now gave you nothing but pain and brought back memories that you desperately tried to forget.
“Put the racket back where I took it.” He turned his head, followed by his body, and walked towards the corner of the room, placing the racket alongside the few others that are leaning on the wall and walk back towards you.
“That will be it for now but tomorrow you will be tested further.”
“Understood professor.” You walked away from him, seeing if he’ll follow you if you do so without instructions, however, he didn’t.
“ARIA? Follow me.”
“Yes professor.”
He remained at least a meter away from you as you walk, each step he took didn’t make much sound. Going back to the facility, you ordered him to sit down where his charging station was, and to shut down all his systems, his eyes were closed so you checked if the light on his nape was off, and it was, indicating that he completely shut down. Closing all the lights you left.
Checking the time as you walked to your office, it was almost sunrise and you haven’t gotten a wink of sleep. The moment Seungcheol and Jeonghan found out that you pulled a consecutive all-nighter, you’re in for a long and agonizing scolding, nevertheless, you didn’t have plans on going home. Grabbing the last bond paper, you had on your desk, you began listing what you’ve observed so far, not wanting to forget them once you start discussing it with the rest of the team just because you were sleep-deprived. The orange hue of the sunrise started seeping through the curtain of your office window indicating that another day had started and the laboratory would be soon filled by people again. A cup of coffee was very much needed; however, you didn’t have the energy to stand from your swivel chair and make one. Tiredly slumping on your messy workspace, closing your dry eyes, hoping to get some rest before everyone arrives.
A man silently groaning on the floor was the first thing you witnessed when your eyes flutter open. He stood cautiously to avoid stepping on the papers scattered all over the ground that wasn’t there before. Dusting his pants, he picked the papers one by one while muttering to himself, which you couldn’t comprehend. When his eyes met yours the freshly picked papers went back on the ground, dropping it again in his shock.
“Professor! I was about to wake you up.”
“I think you should wake yourself up first Dr. Kim.” Scratching the back of his head, he gave you a sheepish smile.
“Dr. Yoon asked me to tell you that you should see him in the facility? He said you’ll know where it is.” He held the pile of papers closely to his chest, not wanting to drop it for the third time.
“Alright.” You massaged your stiff neck from being in an uncomfortable position for quite some time. You knew that Jeonghan wasn’t the only one waiting for you, Seungcheol would be there as well probably to discuss the unexpected change you made on ARIA. For a week you allowed no one to see ARIA, informing them that you personally want to be the one who will finish the AI, which they agreed to, not even your best friends bother you, although they did not forget to constantly remind you to eat or rest.
You walked towards the facility, preparing yourself for all the explanations you need to make and to answers the questions they might bombard you with. Your hands were cold yet sweaty, you felt as if you’re about to get scolded by your parents after causing trouble.
You arrived, with them standing in front of ARIA, they faced you with a look in their eyes you couldn’t fathom. They were in shock and that’s the only thing you were sure about.
“Listen… I… Joshua agreed to this before. I asked him if we can use him as ARIA’s avatar when we were just staring on the research and he said yes… and…” They weren’t even uttering a word and yet you found a need to explain yourself. Though what you said was true, except you, yourself isn’t sure if that was truly the reason for changing ARIA’s feature to that of Joshua’s.
“I don’t know what came to me…” Tears dripped onto the floor then sniffles followed, you didn’t know why you were crying, regardless you let the tears escape from your eyes.
The testing for ARIA proceeded with Seungcheol temporarily leading the team for you weren’t mentally stable to do so. You were at Jeonghan’s apartment, tucked in under the blanket he gave you on the couch with your legs stretched out while you lean on the armrest while he cooks something which consists of him dialing the local pizza to order. He demanded you to rest, even offering his bed for you to sleep on, you were physically tired, but your brain is wide awake, hence, you couldn’t.
Your eyes are glued onto the television, but your thoughts are nowhere focused on the show being aired, too occupied thinking about what you’re supposed to do now that AIRA is complete. A conference will be held after making sure that ARIA doesn’t have problems with its design so you had to prepare yourself for that day.
“And then what?”
“And then what, what?” You didn’t realize that you voiced out your thoughts and Jeonghan entered the right time to hear it.
“Now that ARIA’s finish, what will I do then?”
“Relax, you’ve spent a lot of time working on ARIA. Once the conferences and interviews are done, go on a vacation. Start living your life.” He sat by your foot, arms spread lazily on the backrest of the couch, his eyes on the television.
“How?” He looked at you with bewildered eyes.
“What do you mean how?”
“I don’t know a life without him Han.” He placed a hand on your shin with a sigh, massaging it softly as an attempt to give you comfort.
“It takes time Y/n.”
“I know, but I couldn’t, all of us… grew up together. I can’t just forget about him like he never existed.” You held your hand together, rubbing circles to the back of your other hand with your thumb, a habit you’ve developed as you grew up, a habit to comfort yourself.
“No one is asking you to forget him.” Hands coming to a halt, you met his understanding gaze.
“I know it’s hard but you’ll learn how to let go and accept his death. It’s won’t be easy, don’t force yourself when you’re not yet ready, you’ll find a way to cope up Y/n. Seungcheol and I would be here if you need us. Okay?”
“Thanks Han.”
“You know we always got you.”
“Hi ARIA." You greeted, his eyes slowly opened, blinking robotically to reload the data shown through his eyes that only he could see.
“It’s been a while professor.” He had a smile on his face as he greeted, your heart ached as you smiled at him back.
“Can you bring me Dr. Choi please.”
“Yes professor.” You watched his back as he walks away to find the said man. It was a simple task, but it’s also a test to see if he will be able to find him on his own.
To your surprise he came back with Seungcheol walking in front of him, his hands holding a tablet.
“That was fast.” Your comment made the man standing in front of you cockily smirk.
“What do you expect? He learned from the best. Right ARIA?”
“Yes doctor.” Rolling your eyes at the two, you gathered the papers on your desk, compiling them into a stack to unclutter your desk even for a little bit.
“Get over yourself Choi Seungcheol. Anyway, how was his progress in a week?” Stepping forward he handed you the tablet.
“Better than expected actually. I estimated a month for him to learn all the skills and so far, he mastered most of them.” You scrolled through the screen, hovering over the data they’ve gathered for the past week.
“He’s lacking in recognizing human emotions and language.”
“I presumed that he will take more time recognizing human emotion, but with the progress he showed in a week, hopefully he would be able to recognize emotions before the month ends.” You stated, eyes scanning the frequency graph of a test in which ARIA went on a test to try and identify an emotion, and each day his accuracy increases by at least five percent.
“For the language part I just think we could input more language to him and right now he can speak a total of thirteen languages.” Agreeing to his comment, you nodded.
“English, Korean, Japanese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Spanish, French, Italian, Russian, German, Portuguese, Arabic and Hindi.” You read, proceeding to scroll further to see what else they’ve concluded.
“We can’t be satisfied with just thirteen languages after making a more advanced AI.”
“Is it possible for him to speak every language there is?” Eyes diverting from the tablet to him.
“Would you let me handle it?”
“Sure.”
“Then I will make it possible.” He gave you a small nod and a reassuring smile.
“I know you will.” You are confident in his skills not just because he was your best friend but because he proved himself over the past years you spent working with him. Once you had his words, he will get it done.
“I better take a good look at this.” Slightly lifting the tablet, he gave you earlier.
“Then, I’ll take my leave.” He walked then came to a stop in front of ARIA
“Bye-bye ARIA.” His arms raised so that his hand will be on the same level of his face, hand opening and closing twice as he said goodbye.
“Bye-bye doctor.” ARIA put a smile on his face, imitating what Seungcheol just did.
“Why did you taught him how to say goodbye like that?” Eyes squinted in puzzlement, you questioned.
“It’s a lot cuter.” After giving you a playful wink, he left. ARIA remained standing on the spot Seungcheol left him.
“I put a lot of thoughts into this and I think ARIA would learn faster if he observes what naturally happens in a person’s daily life. So, I suggest that ARIA would spend three days on five people’s house so he could have interactions with different humans. Anyone would like to volunteer?” No one raised their hand in your dismay.
“I know you think it’s a good idea professor, but of course we don’t want to be liable to the damages if an accident happened to ARIA and most of us have children too, it won’t be a good idea to have a robot roaming around the house.”
“Right, I guess I didn’t put enough thoughts into this, sorry.”
“The only people who lives alone are you, me, Jeonghan, Mingyu and Wonwoo.” You winced at the selection of people Seungcheol mentioned.
“Mingyu is well… and Wonwoo stays on his pc when his on break I don’t think ARIA would learn from him.” They were your underclassmen in high school as well as in college, Mingyu was in his freshman year and the four of you were in your sophomore when he came to the table you four were sitting on and excitedly introduced himself and his friend Wonwoo as well, then they stuck around since then. None of you mind, sometimes even using them, especially Mingyu as a subject in your experiments.
“What do you mean well?” Mingyu asked, giving you and the rest of the people on the room a quizzical look.
“If it’s going to be the three of us then he’ll spend five days each, would that be, okay?” You asked, ignoring Mingyu’s question.
“Sure, I have more time working on his language.”
“I don’t either.” You gave them a small nod. You have to give them a proper thank you once everything was done. They too were grieving for loosing Joshua, and still they manage to give you comfort and make huge contributions to the project.
It was awkward welcoming him to your place, especially with him now wearing the clothes your boyfriend used to own to make him decent looking before leaving the facility, you felt as if showing Joshua where he used to live and guiding him to every part of the one-bedroom apartment, which he should suppose to know like the back of his hand. He took his time to observe his surroundings, scanning every corner of the room, and exploring the place on his own again after you’ve told him where things were then after some time he stood on the side of the sofa where you were seated.
“You’re done exploring? Need anything?” Remote on hand as you click on the remote, skimming through the list of movies on the screen.
“How do you spend your time professor?”
“I don’t usually stay here but when I do, I watch series, movies or reality shows to occupy myself. Since you’re here, I would do my normal routine when… he… never mind.” Your words trailed off your mouth, memories of him flooding back one by one, your fingers stopped pressing on the buttons of the remote as you slowly lower them.
“Who are you talking about professor?”
“Nothing, don’t mind it. Why don’t we watch something? I’ll ask you questions about what you observed by the end of it.”
The movie came to an end with you explaining most of what’s happening and introducing each character, even so, his eyes were still glued on the screen, sitting motionless, making you wonder if he was still on.
“ARIA?”
“Yes professor?”
“Oh… how did you find the movie?” Your face turned to the television, you asked,
“There were a lot of fight scenes, and Peter and Pepper seemed sad when Tony died.”
“Indeed, he is, but why do you say so?”
“Their actions, the tone of their voice and the change in their facial expression states that they were sad, and aren’t you supposed to be sad when someone dies? Also, you seem sad too professor.”
“Well yes, he’s my favorite character.” Reaching out to your face, he attempted to wipe the stray tear that rolled off your eye.
“Are these sad tears now professor?”
“Yes, yes they are.” Disregarding the fact that your heart was beating wildly on your ribcage you fished out your phone from the pocket of your jeans.
“ARIA can you imitate this voice?” You played a video that you took of Joshua when he was passionately talking about the theories, he came up with a mystery crime film you were watching, he was discussing how they were trying to make it look like the protagonist was the culprit when in fact it was his girlfriend who did all the wrongdoings.
“Like this professor?” Stunned at the way he sounds, you started at him. Despite the slightly robotic tone of his voice, he sounded like Joshua.
“Professor?”
“Yes, sorry, right. You got it right, that’s great… amazing even.” You rambled in your flustered state, you missed him, his voice, and everything about him. You’ve never imagined hearing him again speaking in front of you and not from the speakers of your phone.
Waking up early, you prepared your breakfast, accidentally cooking food enough for two, forgetting that ARIA is a robot and doesn’t need to eat. You don’t have plans to go to the laboratory since ARIA could run for twelve hours after being charged for a full three hours. He’s still off until now so charging wouldn’t be a problem. Lazily eating the rest of the scrambled egg, you tossed the plate on the sink, planning to let the dirty dishes pile up before washing them.
You left ARIA seated on the couch, with a press of a button located in his nape, the small, blue led bulb lit up indicating that he was on.
“Hi ARIA.” You greeted as you walk in front of him.
“Fuck you professor.” The sweet smile on his face and his words contrasted, it didn’t help that you made him retain Joshua’s voice.
“Who taught you that?”
“Dr. Yoon told me to greet everyone that way from now on.” You sighed, sitting beside ARIA while he follows your movements with his eyes.
“Stop, it’s not a good thing to say.”
“Dr. Yoon said it’s fun.” He argued.
“That man’s definition of fun is different.” Lifting the throw pillows on the couch you looked for the remote.
“What is the Dr. Yoon’s definition of fun professor?”
“Just stop saying fuck you to greet people, okay? Stop asking questions.” Frustrated you harshly dropped the pillow back to the couch.
“Then, how will I learn professor?” You were amazed at how a robot could drive you insane.
“You can ask questions, just stop saying fuck you, people might find it offensive and think you’re defective.”
“Yes professor.” You couldn’t describe how anxious you are when the time comes for ARIA to stay at Jeonghan’s. He might be smart but he could still teach ARIA things he shouldn’t.
You were done with your lunch, dirty dishes slowly piled up on the kitchen sink. You decided that you’ll wash the dishes and order pizza for dinner so you won’t have to wash dishes again. A moving mechanical sound came from behind you, it was something you just noticed with your apartment being quiet.
“What are you doing professor?” He asked coming up from behind you and you felt him peaking over your shoulder.
“Washing the dishes.” You answered, rinsing the last plate and letting it rest on the rack to dry.
“Professor I think you have a heart disease.” You faced him, baffled as to why he thought such a thing.
“Why do you say so?” Walking a couple of steps from him to grab the cloth hanging from the wall to dry your hands.
“I always sense your heart rate increasing, the normal heart rate is sixty to one hundred beats per minute and yours exceed the normal heart rate. Even now.” You cursed yourself for the changes you’ve done to his hearing sensors, upgrading it to even let him hear a persons’ heartbeat. You felt stupid letting your guard down.
“Professor your temperature is rising, you might have a slight fever.” You walked away, attempting to stay away from him as you possibly could.
“No. I’m fine. I am one hundred percent alright. I don’t have a heart disease or a fever.” To your disappointment he followed you, walking closely behind you.
“Professor, you haven’t visited a doctor how can you be so sure?”
“I am a doctor ARIA.”
Wide awake laying on the bed, asking yourself questions if you’ve finally lost your mind and gone mad. ARIA’s voice played on your mind like a broken recorder, his exact words repeating relentlessly, each time it repeats its sounds louder than the previous. You shook your head, hoping it would shake off your thoughts too. You refuse to believe your harboring feelings for the AI so you continue to deny it, but his words would play again.
“I always sense your heart rate increasing.”
“Stop it already!” Burying your face under the pillow, attempting to drown out your thoughts.
“Why would I? Liking a robot? That’s stupid. He’s not even alive for fuck’s sake.” Groaning, you sat up, repeatedly smacking your cheeks to come to your senses.
“He is a robot. He is not Joshua. He is a robot. He is not Joshua.” You chanted like a mantra as you lay once more.
Sun shining in the sky, greeting your sleepless form early in the morning. Groggily standing up, going straight to the kitchen to make yourself a coffee that will serve as your energy until you get back home again after going to the facility for ARIA to charge.
With a cup of coffee in hand, you turned ARIA on.
“Hi ARIA.” You said with a groggy voice.
“Good morning professor.” It was a relief hearing him greet you good morning instead of a fuck you.
“Can you do a weather report please.” You asked, sipping on the coffee in hand.
“Today is Sunday, currently seven thirty-eight in the morning and the temperature is twenty-seven degrees Celsius. It is expected to rain in the afternoon, I would advise to bring an umbrella.” You mumbled a small thanks, sitting on the armchair located further away from ARIA.
Arriving at the facility wearing your favorite oversized hoodie that you stole from Joshua’s wardrobe before and navy-blue jogger pants, since it was your day-off and the only reason you were there was to charge ARIA’s battery.
“You look awful.” Seungcheol greeted, as he walked towards you.
“Good morning to you too.” You retorted; voice laced with sarcasm making the man in front of your smile.
“What happened to you? Was there a problem with ARIA?”
“I just couldn’t sleep. ARIA is completely fine.” Tucking the stray hairs behind your ear, you responded. He sat beside you, leaning forward a little, with his elbows resting on his knees.
“Why?” He questioned.
“I just…” You trailed, unsure what to say to the man in front of you. You don’t know what you were feeling, why your heart beats so much when ARIA was close. He wasn’t Joshua and that you were certain of, so then why?”
“Joshua?” You nodded slowly, it was easier for him to understand if you used him as an excuse and wouldn’t question you further. He straightens up his position, his hand on your back rubbing it up and down and giving your shoulder little pats. He didn’t say anymore, but his actions were enough to give you comfort.
“Cheol? Can you call me when ARIA is finished charging? I need to take a walk… and clear my mind.” He nodded. Standing up after you did, he insisted to walk you out of the building.
You didn’t go far, you headed straight to the open field near the laboratory building, besides you didn’t have a specific destination. You just wanted to be in a quiet place alone to sort out your thoughts and feelings.
You can’t fall for a robot, even if he had the same face and same voice as the man you love dearly, he wasn’t him, he would never be him, he can never be him.
“Get yourself together Y/n.” You told yourself, staring at the trees planted from far away. You sat down crisscrossed on the grass, thankful that you wore something to cover your legs so you wouldn’t die from itch from where you’re seated, thinking of staying a little longer and feel the cool breeze. Letting yourself be calm and your head is clear even for a little longer.
You got back to your apartment just before it started to rain. ARIA walked towards the glass window as if he was observing the rain.
It remained you when you two were in senior year, he pulled you outside one Sunday morning, the morning after he slept over and the rain was falling. His arms stretched to hold yours as he jumps around, encouraging you to do so as well. It was awkward at first, being soaking wet dancing in the rain in the middle of the street early in the morning. You told him that you were supposed to do this at night when the streets are empty and everyone is asleep, but he said it's better this way because it's cold at night and you have a higher chance of getting a cold.
You giggled, you stopped dancing and leaned in to kiss him. He smiled, gave you a hug, your wet clothes stuck to both of you like a second skin. After the rain died down you two went back inside. He wrapped you with towels so you wouldn't get cold while he prepares you a warm bath. And after you two were warm and comfortable, he prepared blankets and warm cocoa topped with mini marshmallows so you could binge your favorite series.
It was one of the memories that you held dear.
He made me love the rain and hate it too. Because every time it rains it will always remind me that he isn't here to give me the warmth he always gave.
He was always taking care of you, making sure you were loved, and made sure you didn't feel alone. He was there every step you made in your life and you were too with him. He supported you on your goals and made sure you weren't too hard on yourself. He even made you a beaded bracelet one time when you were stressed out on your thesis because he wanted to comfort you but you wanted to be left alone.
It was my turn to care for you, why did you just leave like that.
You walked closer to ARIA who was still observing the rain from the window, heart drumming like crazy, your trembling hands reach out to him, wrapping it on his metal waist. Your cheek pressed against his back, tears falling with the rain.
"Professor?" He attempted to move and face you, but you tighten your hold.
"Just stay still ARIA... stay still."
"Is this what they call a hug professor?" You sniffled, mumbling a small yes to answer his question. You were seeking comfort, his comfort, but he wasn't there. And the closest thing you have that resembles him is ARIA. You thought that taking a breather would clear your mind, but it only worked for a moment.
"Joshua" You mindlessly muttered, hugging ARIA's body tighter, you closed your eyes. ARIA didn't have the warmth that he does, he is also made up of metals and wires underneath his silicone skin. He is not Joshua. He only looks and sounds like him. You let go, finally allowing him to face you. It was his third time seeing your tear-stained face, and if he weren't a robot you would've embarrassed yourself.
He inches closer, spreading his arms wide, and leaned towards you a little, then he enveloped you with his embrace.
"According to an article a hug can help comfort someone, it also reduces stress. Some scientist believes a hug can could boost a hormone called oxytocin and also affect the human's opioid system." What he just said went in one ear and out the other. You stopped paying halfway, relishing the feeling of his hug. He was still hard to hug, the silicone skin was not as soft as human skin was but that was the least of your worries.
"I think I'm liking ARIA." Your palms were sweaty despite the air-conditioning being on. You took in deep breathes each time you breathe attempting to calm yourself while you open up to your best friends in the middle of the night as you lay in bed in a three-way call.
"Of course. You have to like ARIA you basically created him." Slurping could be heard from the other line, assuming that one of them was eating their midnight snack.
"No that's not it, Han. He... This is stupid how can I possibly love a robot." You sat up, back pressed against the headboard of your bed.
"That's because you don't. Y/n ARIA is a project not a love interest. He isn't Joshua's replacement." The slurping stopped, and Seungcheol's serious voice made you anxious.
"We didn't question you when you change ARIA's face to Joshua's, we let you because we know how much you miss him, but Y/n you are going too far."
"I told you that you'll find a way to cope and this is not it, Y/n. You don't like ARIA you simply like the thought of him being Joshua and he isn't." You could sense the pain and disappointment hidden in Jeonghan's voice. You weren't sure if that disappointment was towards you or to himself.
"I know that! I know... I... I don't know anymore. I'm scared, the thought of being alone scared me and with Joshua here with me-"
"Y/n! He is not Joshua! You aren't alone." You flinched at his raised voice as he cut you off. "I told you we will always be here for you no matter how shitty it gets. ARIA is a robot keep that in mind, you can't use him to fill up the hole Joshua left just because you modified him to have his face."
"We'll keep ARIA in the lab for now, his deep learning could wait. You have you to fix yourself first." Your widened, they can't postpone it now that ARIA is nearly fully complete.
"What no! Our goal is almost at our reach, we only have a few weeks left we can't just-"
"We can. You are not okay Y/n. We'll take ARIA back to the lab first thing in the morning. We'll give you some time to think everything through."
"Go to sleep Y/n we'll be there at nine." They ended their call with that. You knew this time you were at the wrong. Joshua's death has slowly been driving you insane. You kept pushing it away instead of facing it head-on. You kept yourself busy with work and when you're done with work you just simply find more work to do. And putting it aside for way too long has led to this.
You placed your phone on the pillow beside you, Joshua's pillow. You hugged it, letting what's left of Joshua's scent calm you, but it did the opposite. His scent was faint, barely there, you haven't washed it since or changed the sheets in fear that his scent would fade. Your tears started to fall once again, staining the pillowcase with your teardrops. What you fear was slowly starting to come true. You fear that traces of Joshua would slowly disappear, as if he didn't exist in the first place, like the imaginary friend you had made when you were younger, he only exists in your head and taking up a huge part of your heart.
Seungcheol and Jeonghan came like they said they would, you greeted them with puffy eyes and swollen faces. The side of your eyes has tear marks from all the crying you did until you tire yourself out and fell asleep.
Seungcheol left Jeonghan to look out for you, taking ARIA with him. You sat on the dinner table, a cup of coffee in hand while Jeonghan prepares your breakfast. You haven't spoken a word since they arrived, your mind was empty, blankly on the containers of leftovers you had from who knows when.
"Jeonghan? Do you think I've gone mad?"
"No. You're broken but not crazy." His back was still facing you, flipping the pancakes. Again, it was silent, you didn’t know what to feel like you’ve poured out all your emotions from crying last night.
“Here eat up, I’ll leave when I made sure that you ate.”
“Are you starting to avoid me?”
“What? No! Why would I avoid you when you clearly need us? You do best when you figure things out for yourself, I know better than just start giving you advices.”
“I don’t want to mess up your mind further. I know you can do this Y/n. Take as much time as you need, you know Seungcheol and I would respond anytime so call us whenever.”
“I don’t think simple thank you would be enough for all the help you two gave.”
“Oh, you think it’s free? I’m expecting payment sent to my account by tonight. I don’t need friends, only business.
“I’ll make sure to treat you both somewhere.”
“Think about that when you’re all better yeah?”
The sun was covered by the clouds threatening to pour droplets of rain. With an umbrella in hand and a bouquet of flowers in the other, you walked passing by graves, some had flowers and lit candles indicated that someone had visited their loved ones previously, while some look like they needed some care and cleaning.
You haven’t been to his grave since the day he was buried. You didn’t have the guts to see the day he was born and the day he died side by side. You weren’t ready to accept the fact he was gone forever, so you ran away from it. But now you were, you looked down on his gravestone, his full name in all capital letters and a cross carved above it. You took a deep breath, placing his favorite flowers gently atop his gravestone. You just stood there, not knowing where to start or what to say, your mind jumbling all through the words to help you start with something.
“I hate you.” Were the first words to leave your mouth.
“I hope your watching me from up there, or down because we know you’re a devil in disguise, or wherever you are right now.” You sniffle, continuing your words. “You probably hate me too, right? I haven’t let your soul rest for a year since I kept holding on.”
"I was scared. I was scared for too long. I need to overcome my fear." You wiped the tears that fell with the back of your hand.
“I miss you so much, but it’s time for me to let go. Whatever mission you have on this world is done. I just wished that your mission was to marry me, take care of our children together until they are capable to stand on their own feet then grow old together till we're both bedridden. But I guess life doesn’t go the way I want it to.” Pausing, you looked up the gray sky, taking in a deep breath. “I love you so much Shua. I’ll let you rest now.” You sat crisscrossed in front of his gravestone, wiping away the tears from your once again puffy eyes.
You remained quietly seated on the grass until someone approached you. “Hi sorry to interrupt but… uhm…” Awkwardly scratching his nape he continued. “This is embarrassing but I forgot where my friend’s grave is and you’re the only person here.”
"I might have gotten a glimpse of their name when I was walking pass by the other graves.” You answered, looking up at his tall frame.
“His name is Joshua Jisoo Hong.” Your eyes widen.
“You’re a friend of his?” It was odd to see a friend of his that you didn't knew. His group of friends were yours as well, especially when you two started dating.
“You know him?”
“Yes… I… was his girlfriend." You turned your head to the gravestone in front of you. "You’re lucky you’re here at the right time.” You continued.
“He always mentions you but I haven’t seen you in person. I’m Lee Seokmin. We we’re friends before he moved here from states.” You stood, shaking his stretched-out hand.
“Y/n L/n. Nice to meet you."

Cheating on You
Chan(Dino) x Pole Dancer gnReader
Genre: argument(?) tiny fluff at the end

Word count: 1k

You've kept it a secret for long. Not because you were ashamed, but because you wanted it to be a surprise. You've tried a lot of things as you grew older and pole dancing was not one of them.
You came across a video while scrolling through your phone; a pole dancing competition. You were astonished. You started to take classes secretly, and it was thrilling, both the lessons and hiding it from your boyfriend.
Pole dancing was a beautiful form of art. How they elegantly land on their feet, how they rotate on the pole, and the amount of strength they had to hold onto it, everything about it made you motivated to learn.
Though it was a lot harder than it looked, bruises started to form on your thigh, causing you to waddle your way out of the studio every time a session was over. But it was worth it. You felt more confident in your body than you were before, you've got a stronger core and it helped strengthen not only your body but your mind. Since it was a sport that needed trust in yourself. Not only that but you made friends who shared your newfound passion.
Your boyfriend on the other hand started to become suspicious, you always left the at the same days at the same time and using the overused excuse of meeting with your friends then come home hiding the fact that you had trouble walking. You were always on your phone, grinning and giggling at the messages you received. And it didn't help that every time you get a call you go somewhere private when before you just answer the phone right away, not minding if he was near or not.
The clues he gathered only point at one thing. You were with someone else and cheating on him. The only reason he can't confront you about it was that he didn't know what to say nor have physical evidence to prove his claims.
You both were sitting on the couch, watching guardians of the galaxy for who knows how many times. Sitting crisscrossed on the sofa, his hand draped on your shoulder while the bowl of popcorn is placed in between you two. His thoughts weren’t on the movie, not like he needed to since he had watched it more than he could count, to the point that he knows the character's next lines.
Was he the one you're thinking about now or the other person you were seeing? You might be by his side but he wasn't sure if your heart was still with him. Sighing, he grabbed a handful of popcorn, but the marks on your inner thighs and knees stopped him from shoving it to his mouth. He found the evidence he needed and is a hundred percent sure that you are with another person.
"Where did you get that." His eyes didn't bother to look at your face, he was focused on your thighs.
"Get what?" You followed his gaze. You immediately close your legs when you’ve found where he was looking at, and putting your hands on your knees, attempting to hide the rest of your bruises.
His attention was now on you, his eyes were cold, and with a threatening tone, he threw another question. "How long have you been seeing this person Y/n? How long have you been planning to fuck around with me?”
"Wait what? No, I'm not seeing anyone!" You retorted.
"Explain those hickeys then. Are you going to tell me you gave it to yourself?" The two of had you fought, it was only normal for couples to have disagreements, but you've never seen him this mad. His voice raised; jaw gritted. He was trying his hardest not to burst out.
"No! Just listen... I am not seeing anyone, this..." You motioned "I can explain everything if you will let me.” You attempted to hold his hand to calm him down, but he swatted yours away.
"Go ahead then. Explain." You could feel his hand clenching into a fist from your shoulder.
Taking a deep breath, you started to speak. "This was supposed to be a surprise for our anniversary."
"It definitely will."
"Can you please shut up and let me talk?"
"All the times that I left the house I was at a dance studio being coached. These bruises," You ran your hand on the bruises you acquired. "I got them all from dancing."
"That doesn't explain why you have a fucking hickey on your thigh!" His raised tone making you flinch. This has never happened before; sure, he had a look and his tone sounded dangerous when you two get into a serious argument. But he never once raised his voice.
"Didn't I just say it was a bruise?" You turned your focus on your hands, slowly retreating them from your knees as you started to fidget with the promise ring he put on your right hand.
"I've been learning how to pole dance these past weeks. That's how I got the "hickey" on my thigh." Raising both hands, your index and middle finger, quoting the word hickey.
"You're what?" His furrowed brows relax, taken aback by your revelation. Soon after you started to calm down too, sensing the tension was gone.
"Now you ruined the surprise. I was going to give you a performance on our anniversary." Crossing your arms underneath your chest, you pouted.
"Why didn't you say so?"
"Because it's a surprise, dimwit."
"How was I supposed to think you were dancing. You leave at the same days and times, come back having a trouble walking, then smile at your phone when you get a message. You even leave whenever someone calls. You’ve never done that before. And now I saw this hickey looking bruise in your inner thigh and bruises on your knees and I'm still supposed think you're dancing?" You thought back to all the actions you've done in the past week, cringing at how suspicious you must seem.
"Maybe I did kind of acted suspicious."
"Sorry." He pulled you close, placing a kiss at the crown of your head, making you hum.
"I'll just pretend that this whole thing never happened, so your surprise would still a surprise."
Facing him, you said. "I don't think that's how it works."

Observing her figure while she amuses herself with the dog, he wondered if it was a good idea to bring the dog over to stay in their accommodation for a week. He informed her the moment Tiger arrived. He was certain that her classes end at six o’clock and yet she already came harassing the doorbell at five, walking past him after he opened the door to greet the barking cinnamon-colored chowchow. His legs crossed, elbow placed on top of his knees, while his chin rests on his hand, she faced him, eyes lighting up, he sat upright expecting her to give him the attention he craved since she arrived.
“Do you guys have a schedule? Can I stay here for the weekend?” His whole body flooded with joy, nodding enthusiastically, already thinking of all the ways he could spend his time with.
“Of course! We’re on a break for a week so you could stay until then.” A plan was organized in such a short moment, he’ll take her to the amusement park to the newly opened restaurant near their company and lastly, bring her to the riverside he discovered, where he found a ton of fireflies. He couldn’t fight back a smile thinking of how she will react to his romantic idea.
“Great! We can spend more time playing together Tiger.” Scoffing at her cooing voice, he stood and made his way to Jeonghan’s room, with an aggressive knock, he entered.
“Knocking is useless if you’re going to barge in like that you know?” He didn’t look particularly busy, sitting on the bed with the duvet covering his lower half and scrolling through his phone. He sat near where Jeonghan’s feet with a sigh, which made the older man look up from his phone in confusion.
“Aren’t you supposed to be happy since your girlfriend’s here?” Soonyoung sighed once more then puckered his lips into a pout. This time he got the older man’s full attention and made him put his phone down and sat crisscrossed, leaning in enough to get closer to him.
“The dog’s got all her attention.” He complained, attempting to hide a whiny tone but failed.
“That’s expected, it’s been a long time since she last saw Tiger.” Leaning back, he turned his attention to his phone again and gave Soonyoung a last glance, back slump and a pout still present on his lips, it was Jeonghan’s turn to sigh.
“You’ll get to spend your time with her, ask her to stay over or something. I’m sure the other guys won’t mind as long as you too aren’t too noisy at night.” Jeonghan said with a playful tone, making Soonyoung ears red and face heated.
“You know we don’t do that here!” His reaction made Jeonghan let out a hearty laugh.
“Yeah, yeah I know. Stop wasting your time in my room, go and accompany her. I’m busy.”
“Yeah right. Anyway, thanks Jeonghan.”
Day-1 Saturday 8:35 am
His instinct to cuddle up to her kicking at the moment he gained consciousness, turning to his side looking for her, but she wasn’t there. No warmth radiating off of the bed covers, meaning that she’s been gone for a while. He stood up though he was still half asleep, going straight to the kitchen, thinking she was there cooking breakfast and to his disappointment she wasn’t, it was Myungho who he saw, preparing his morning tea.
“Do you know where Y/n is?”
“She took Tiger out for a walk thirty minutes ago. I think she’ll be back soon though, she said she wanted to cook us breakfast.” Myungho left him groaning and upset that she prioritized the dog over him. He knows she’s busy getting her college degree and he was too with his career so this was supposed to be a chance to spend time together.
Exiting the bathroom with a towel securely wrapped around his waist, he was welcomed with the pleasant scent of pancakes being cooked, stomach grumbling, he followed the alluring fragrance, ears being blessed with the sweet tune she was humming before he could even reach the kitchen. Creeping up behind her, he wrapped his hands around her form which earned him a hum.
“I tried to put a tiger design on your pancake, and well…” He burst into a fit of laughter when he saw her creation. One eye bigger than the other, he could hardly make out the mouth because it merged with the nose and whiskers, and the ears were a mess as well.
“I love it even if it’s deformed.”
Day 2 Sunday 10:05 pm
It was a rainy Sunday night, and Soonyoung grabbed the opportunity to watch a movie and cuddle up with her, but his plans were ruined when he saw his dog on the couch with its head rested onto her lap, having no other choice to sit on the other end of the couch, he threw glares at the innocent dog.
“What are we watching?” He melted onto her soft gaze but soon his face hardened when her attention went back to the dog.
“What do you want to watch Tiger?”
“How about the conjuring three that just came out?”
“No, what if it gave Tiger nightmares? Let’s watch wish dragon instead. There’s an adorable pink dragon character and I’m sure our little Tiger will love it. Right?” A silent huff left his lips, grabbing the remote under the dog’s fur.
“I thought I’m your only tiger.”
Day 4 Tuesday 7:35 pm
Her excited face greeted him the moment he opened the door. He knew by now that her excitement wasn’t directed towards him but to the fluff ball he owned. He noticed the paper bag she was holding as she went straight to the kitchen with him following suit. Curious, he took a peek before while she was grabbing water from the fridge, he caught a glimpse but he couldn’t make out what it was.
“What is this Y/n?” Footsteps followed after the sound of the fridge closing.
“I made cupcakes.” His attention focused on the rustling paper bag, intently watching as her hand pull out the box carefully.
“You made me cupcakes?” Excitement doubling when she opened the box after undoing the orange ribbon securing it. The tiger design of the icing brought out the childish side of him, preventing himself from stomping his feet continuously one by one to shake off some of the excitement he was feeling.
“Actually… they’re for Tiger, but they're safe for humans to eat since I made them with peanut butter and bananas.” Shoulder slowly dropping, his disappointment radiating off of him and she sensed it.
“I’ll bake you some to next time. I promise… I just… Uhm… I didn’t have ingredients to make one for you, but next time, I swear!” He couldn’t make eye contact with her, his head down, staring at her cat-printed socks, ignoring everything she was saying. Feeling her hands on his cheeks, sandwiching it enough to make his lips pout like a fish before lifting it so he could face her.
“I promise, next time.” With a sigh he nodded, it was all he could do anyway, hold on to the promise and wait for his turn to taste the cupcakes she made.
“Would you like to help me feed Tiger his treats?”
Day 6 Thursday 6:33 pm
To her surprise, it wasn’t Soonyoung who answer the door for her.
“Oh Cheol, is Soonyoung not around?” The door closed behind her, she scanned the living room, hoping to spot her boyfriend.
“He’s in the shower, he just arrived from the gym, and Tiger’s playing with-“ A door slamming closed interrupted him, followed by a six-foot man running after Tiger.
“Give me back my underwear you perverted dog!”
“-Mingyu.” Tiger ran around her and Seungcheol, soon coming to a stop in front of her and dropping the said underwear right at her feet. Tiger looked up to her, his tail wagging as if waiting for her to pet him. Mingyu crouched down, snatching the underwear and scrunching the fabric up to a ball and immediately scurrying away from her sight. She couldn’t help but giggle at the embarrassed man before crouching down to give Tiger a scolding.
“That’s not a nice thing to do Tiger, you mustn’t steal other’s belongings.” Her stern looks crumbling when he gave her cheek a lick.
“Do you want to play?” Hearing the word 'play', Tiger barked, tail wagging intensely.
Soonyoung found her digging through the dog’s bag, her back turned away from him.
“Soonyoung, did you make Tiger bring any toy? I couldn’t find any.” He approached her with mindful steps, one hand securing the towel on his waist. Chest brushing on her back as he bends over with her to look for a toy, his wet hair dripping on the carpeted floor as he did so.
“I’m sure I told my sister to pack a lot, it’s probably in the other member’s room.” She faced him, eyes scanning him for a second.
“Oh, you haven’t changed yet. I’ll be in the living room playing with Tiger.” With that, she exited the room.
Flexing his muscles on the full body mirror he had on the closet’s door he wondered if she noticed the way his forearms strained the fabric of his shirts, how the well-built curves of his chest were now visible through his clothes, or how his abdominal muscles became more prominent in the past month, he was curious on whether she’s been paying attention to the physical changes of his body since she’s been so excited over the dog staying over. She spared him a glance earlier and she didn’t even react seeing his half-naked body when she usually ogles him for a minute before looking away.
Throwing the squeaky chew toy mindlessly, she couldn’t get her mind off of Soonyoung, Tigers bark broke her away from her trance, patting the floor as a gesture for Tiger to come over, she placed her hand on Tiger’s mane and spoke.
“When did your father became so muscular?” Tiger tilted his head in confusion, most likely why she stopped throwing the tiger-printed toy.
Day 8 Saturday
Tiger was fetched by his sister much to his delight and her disappointment. Soonyoung laid in between her legs while she plays with his hair.
“Did your sis messaged you yet? Did Tiger arrive there safely?” That was his last straw, he sat straight and faced her.
“You need to get your priorities straight.” Her face contorted in confusion.
“What do you mean?”
“All your attention is on that dog and not to me for a whole week! I should be your number one priority Y/n!” He crossed his hands on his chest and pouted, giving her a poor attempt of glare before turning his head away with a huff.
“You are my number one priority Soonyoung-ie and my number one tiger. I would never trade you for anything else.” Inching closer to him, placing a hand on his back and rubbing comforting circles to ease his temper.
“Even for Tiger?” A smile formed on her lips, sliding her other hand past his stomach to cuddle him.
“Of course. I love you more than little Tiger.” He finally faced her, pout still etched on his lips, gently lifting herself, she leaned, kissing his pouty lips. He turned away once more, hiding his heated face from her, still pretending to sulk as a disguise.
“Bake me tiger cupcakes and then I’ll believe you.”

Nothing he came up with left him satisfied, even though he thought it would be beneficial for him to go to his studio since it has always been a therapeutic place for him. A safe space he feels comfortable in which he treats like home, where he spends most of his time, staying till late at night to work or zone out. However, being physically tired from the hours he spends perfecting the recent choreography, and mentally drained from attempting to produce something, all he wanted was to go home to her. Staring at the ceiling for who knows how long while lazily leaning on the backrest of his swivel chair, he ran a hand on his face, letting out a sigh that will notify who heard it of how tired he is. The yawn he let out lubricated his dry eyes after being face to face with the computer screen for some time. Rubbing off the stray tears with his hand lightly balled to a fist he stood up, one hand placed on the desk for support as he saves the files before turning off his computer alongside the other equipment he used. Rain poured the moment he step-out of the studio as if the weather's sympathizing with the gloomy feeling looming over him.
Going down the stairs he came across one of the company’s staff, asking if he needed someone to drive him to the shared apartment with the members which he said no to, instead he told him to drive him to her apartment. Their relationship is no secret, he even personally admitted that he was seeing someone on one of their interviews but chose to keep her identity private. Some were supportive, delighted even to know that he found his significant other, while some did not take the news too well, that is why he wanted to protect her. He’s been careful every time he stays at hers, not wanting the paparazzi to expose her location to the public. He was careful enough to visit her often, even staying at her apartment for days during their breaks. He dropped off on the street corner, walking his way to her apartment in the pouring rain, the umbrella giving not much help to keep him dry whenever the wind grew stronger. His jeans were cold and damp the minute he reached the entrance of her apartment building. After shaking off the excess water from the umbrella he entered, going straight to the elevator and pressing the button to her floor. Leaning against the cold metallic elevator wall, he watched as the number of the floor slowly goes up, finally hearing a ding followed by the elevator door opening.
Humming a tune of a song that Jihoon created, the catchy melody stuck on her brain for days. This occurrence often happened, Jihoon sending an experimental song for her to listen to, waiting for her to give her feedback, and her giving a response that left them both satisfied. Flipping through the next page she continued to hum the chorus, the sound of the door creaking open indicating that her boyfriend visited, halting her from humming the next tunes. Instead of running up to him like she usually does, she stood in front of her bedroom door, staring at the awful state of her boyfriend, hair mess, the lower half of his pants turned a shade darker from getting wet in the rain plus he looked fatigued. Without a word she made her way to the bathroom before Jihoon spotted her as he was busy untying the laces of his possibly wet shoes to prepare a warm bath to help him relax and hopefully relieved at least some of his stress. After double-checking the tub’s temperature, making sure that it’s to Jihoon’s liking, she exited, welcoming her boyfriend with a tight hug.
“I prepared you a bath, go get changed while I prepare dinner.” His eyes now crescent, the dimple on his one cheek making an appearance. It's the smile that she will never get tired of and never failed to make her melt, as well as her heart, swell every time.
She went to the kitchen, preparing a soup for their dinner so it would be easy for him to eat in case he didn’t have an appetite, also it would be the perfect meal on a rainy day. Blowing on the wooden ladle to not burn her tongue when she tasted the soup, humming in satisfaction she proceeded to stir. Unbeknown to the man approaching her so she flinched when she felt arms wrap around her waist, his chin rested on one of her shoulders.
“Sorry.” Placing her other hand on top of Jihoon’s arms she shook her head.
“Why don’t you rest on the couch for now? I’ll call you when dinner’s ready.” A murmured sure was what she got as a response but Jihoon didn’t let her go hence she let him be. Covering the pot, she let the soup simmer, both hands now on his arms.
“It’s okay.” Jihoon was clingier than usual, it’s not that she minds but he only acts like so when he’s really stressed. She wasn’t certain but she assumed that Jihoon had his eyes closed, his grip on her waist become loose.
Dishes all washed and the leftovers stored in the fridge, they are both laying on the bed, the moonlight attempting to peak through the window curtain’s their only source of light.
She couldn’t sleep, as well as Jihoon for he kept tossing and turning, shifting the bed every minute.
“Jihoon?” Changing her position from lying to her back to her side to face her boyfriend.
“Sorry I just…”
“Come here.” Jihoon scooted closer to her, enveloping him with her warmth as she cuddles him closer, her hand rubbing circles on his back while the other softly caressing his hair.
“You should have done that earlier.” He took a deep breath and exhaled through his mouth as he made himself more comfortable in her touch.
“You should’ve said that you wanted to cuddle earlier.” She wasn’t sure if he even heard what he said because soft snores soon followed.

inspired by a scene from the kdrma what's wrong with secretary kim
You held your breath, afraid that it might disturb the man lying beside you, though you knew he too was awake and might be in the same situation as you. He is the President of his father’s company while you are his secretary, yet, even if the two of you have a strictly professional relationship you still manage to end up together, plus it was your first night together as a couple, so you were not sure how you are supposed to act around him.
“Does it make you uncomfortable being on the same bed with me?” Facing him with wide eyes, you aggressively shook your head to deny his claim.
“Of course not! I don’t feel uncomfortable with you at all… it's just… a little… awkward… that’s… that’s it.” Letting out a sigh to release your sudden panic as you toy with the duvet which was covering you up to your waist. Being the one who suggests sleeping beside you instead of the couch, you shouldn’t be the one making him feel that you are uneasy to be near him.
“I’m just not used to it.” Turning your focus on the window, avoiding eye contact with him, not wanting him to see your heated face despite the darkness. Again, it was silent. Closing your eyes, as an attempt to sleep since it was already past one, however you were too nervous to be so near him to be able to drift off to slumber, so you opened your eyes.
Come on think of anything to say.
That is what you both have in mind, wanting to break the awkward silence.
“Do you want me to sing you a lullaby?”
“Yes!” Mentally face-palming for sounding way too eager, nonetheless you were grateful for Vernon for coming up with the idea. You’ve never heard him sang, not even hum to a tune whenever he was working, so you were for sure curious.
I would need a million words
If I tried to define
All the things you mean to me, yeah
For you I'd die a thousand lives
His voice was deep that’s why you weren’t expecting his voice to sound this sweet and calming. Adjusting yourself into a more comfortable position as he sang, you didn’t fail to notice the subtle glance he gave you as you do so.
Special kind of energy
'Cause love is born when hearts collide
Every time you touch me
You remind me that I'm still alive
Closing your eyes while you listen to his soft honey voice, somehow the nervousness you felt earlier, gone. Allowing you to relax whilst he combs your hair with his gentle fingers.
So promise you'll never change
And I'll always be the same
We'll be dancing the same groove
When we're ninety-two, the same as seventeen
Leaning towards his soothing touch, easing your nerves even more. Soon you found yourself slowly drifting off to sleep.
And I'll never lie to you
Just don't you hold back on me
I wanna love you as strong
When we're ninety-two, the same as seventeen
Noticing that your breathing began to even out he came to a decision to end the song but he continued to caress your hair, tucking the strays behind your ear as he did. Vernon halts his movements as you turn to your side, worried that his movements wake you, instead you stretched out one arm, conveniently landing itself on his waist, cuddling him up in your sleep. Vernon won’t deny that it got his heart on haywire, making him lay there frozen solid as he listens to your soft breaths. He turned to face you once he got his heart under control, resting his head on one hand while the other bravely hugged you back.

Tightened Lids

Genre: fluff, crack

Soonyoung has been ignored by you for hours now. The two won't have a proper conversation if you don't speak to him first, because no matter how much he tries to communicate with you, it would be a one-sided conversation. You've locked yourself in your shared bedroom and no matter how many times Soonyoung knocked and asked for forgiveness, you wouldn't open up. It was a childish way of dealing with an argument but this wasn't the first time this scenario happened. He knows that you would eventually talk to him before the day ends, most likely when you both are on your shared bed and about to sleep, knowing that you wouldn't let the day pass without settling the little argument you had, but it's only one in the afternoon, he's too impatient to wait until bedtime.
A genius idea came to his mind. No matter how mad you are at him and refuse to get a glimpse of him, you would come out of the room to get some snacks, prioritizing your hunger over your anger. He skipped towards the kitchen, grabbing the jar of nutella and tightening the lid, and this goes for every jar that he saw. If only you were watching as he went on his with little plan, you would see the mischievous smirk on his face, letting out evil giggles as he put everything in its rightful places. He didn't bother to put the bowls and cups on the higher shelf as he did before, he was sure you would rather climb the counters than ask for his help. This time you wouldn't have a choice but to ask him for help opening the lids. He went back on the couch as he was sitting before, although this time more relaxed, arms spread across the couch's backrest with an uncontrollable smile on his lips.
His prediction was correct. Hearing the door turning open, he forces himself to not acknowledge your presence. A smile was once again on his face when he heard your footsteps headed towards the kitchen. Struggling noises can be heard from you from the kitchen just a few moments after you entered. He couldn't hold back a snicker, holding a clenched fist onto his lips, and glanced towards the kitchen. A frustrated grown followed that left Soonyoung giggling on the couch.
"Soonyoung" intently watching a commercial, he pretended not to hear you.
"Soonyoung-ah" He nodded to the burger commercial that was playing as if it was something informative.
"Kwon Soonyoung!" He stood up as soon as he heard his full name being yelled at by you in a scolding tone.
"Yes?" He turned up to the kitchen with his hands behind his back and an uncomfortable smile.
"Open it." You held up the jar of nutella in front of him which he took with a wide grin. He too struggled to open the said jar, internally scolding himself for tightening it up too much. He looked at you for a moment and gave you an awkward chuckle. He struggled a bit more before finally popping the lid open and handed you the opened jar of nutella as well as the lid. He stood there watching you spread a generous amount of nutella on your toasted bread.
"What do you want?" He wanted to jump and celebrate for finally speaking to him
"Are you still mad?" You walked past him with the plate of nutella sandwich you just made, not bothering to answer his question hoping that your actions were enough for him to figure it out.
"Y/n" You know too well that he was already pouting while he follows you like a lost puppy just with the tone of his voice. You stopped in your tracks and faced him with a cold glare, which earned you a whimper from him.
"Y/n" he dragged the last letter of your name a second longer before pouting again. Sometimes you wonder if you're dealing with your boyfriend or your child. You turn your back to him, increasing your pace to reach your shared bedroom faster.
"I'm sorry. Don't be mad at me anymore." Soonyoung didn't follow you this time, you looked back to see him at the same place you were standing earlier before walking away. His head was down and he was fiddling with the ring on his pinky.
How could I stay mad at you when you act like this.
You walked away once again, but your destination isn't the bedroom anymore, but the living room so you could place down the plate on the table.
"Stop ignoring me Y/n." You faced him for the last time, his eyes were teary as he stares at you with a pout, your heart was melting and breaking at the same time, he was adorable but the tears the was threatening to fall broke you. You approached him with a sigh and tightly hugged him.
"I'm not mad at you anymore and besides it was a stupid argument." Rubbing circles on his back, you attempted to calm him, his arms finding themselves on your waist.
"I know." Sniffling he continued. "Still, peeling chicken nuggets before eating them is the best way to eat them." The look of horror is visible on your face as you stare at him with shock.
I'm starting to think that I'm dating a psychopath.
