I might finally have had enough distance to begin finishing some of my WIPs - particularly Noriko, which I feel genuinely bad for not finishing off, that one’s pretty dear in some respects. I had a look through what I have and there’s LOADS of words that are just meandering and pretty plotless - it’s really sad, there’s so much writing without a home! anyway. I won’t promise anything, because the last year has been brutal and relentless (changed jobs, countries, burnt out, started a new MA-level qualification) but I thought out it for the first time in a long while without feeling like I was doing it simply out of guilt. I’ve been reading The Vegetarian which feels like a very Ursa-esque novel in some respects (it’s hauntingly beautiful, but cw: abuse & sexual assault if you want to read it) and it made me realise how much I cared.

The final card of the major arcana, The World. The World represents completion, whether it be of a journey, a project, a story. It is, in a way, an ending. Unlike Death, which is about the end of one and the beginning of the next, the World is everything in its whole, and the time to savor what all the hard work has been for.

The hug between Aang and Zuko, just before Zuko's coronation, has always been the true ending point of the series for me. The show was both of their journeys; Aang's path to becoming the Avatar that the world needed while keeping true to his values, and Zuko's path to learning the truth about himself and his nation, and becoming a better person. They started as enemies, and ended as friends. The hug they share, at the end of the war, was the perfect scene to place in this card.

thinking this eve about my white lotus origin story AU with my heir to the earth throne avatar OC who wanted to unify an increasingly fractured and divided land under one banner and thus became a warlord, and how in turn, a number of his friends and mentors ended up conspiring in secret to overthrow him because they realised he was a tyrant in the making, and how that was just tragic for everyone involved because he was charismatic and well-intentioned and they had all loved him
