when i tell you that i did not intentionally mean to make ben's canon to be such a close parallel to dean, i truly mean it, but it is interesting to see it played out especially since when we are introduced to ben, he is quite literally a carbon copy of dean winchester. it makes sense that even his own fate plays out in a similar language that we see dean winchester go through.

but the main thing that i am thinking about is dean's feelings re: hell and how he can't feel like a victim without enduring the moral injury of knowing that he tortured souls, so the guilt and shame eats him alive, which prevents dean from being able to process what he has endured in hell.

in the same vein: i want to introduce you to ben's feeling regarding his own mother and her death being mirrors of dean's guilt of hell. ben can't process that he is a victim, as much as he wants to, he is stuck in an infinite loop of feeling shame and guilt regarding his mother's death because she did not have her memories, and it was his fault for bringing the shapeshifter to their front door when he re-engaged in the hunting life. he can't feel like he was wronged for having his memories erased, because the guilt of his mother's death lingers over him, therefore, stunting his ability to be able to process and heal and move on.

everything about ben is extremely dean coded, for someone who claims that he wants nothing to do with dean, while also subconsciously aiming to win his approval.

So I have some good news regarding my mother — she should finally be able to come home soon! Naturally, this means I will be moving in with her soon as that's always been the plan, and I've been preparing for that and making sure we have everything we'll need for our place. I'll be a bit scarce and slow to get to things, but it's all falling into place at last! I'll still be working in the background when I can both here and on my other hub, but don't expect too much at this time haha.

EDIT: The official day is Tuesday the 27th!

there had been a stir of reports of something on the border of prythian causing trouble with the mortals. more than normal , humans were coming into their territory through the gap in the wall. none returned. the humans hadn't raised a fuss about most of them , given those lost were from that odd cult of them that worshipped the fae. so long as those humans came here of their own volition , their lives were forfeit according to the treaty. while no act of war , it was enough of a problem to draw the ire of the humans near the border.

so tamlin sent his general to see if he could find a source of trouble -- see if it was fae at all. the humans could not distinguish anything outside of their own species , so it would fall on the fae's shoulders regardless.

finding @vulpesse was unexpected. the mechanical golden left eye whirs in its socket as lucien's gaze flickers over the woman. everything in him stirs with warning. she is not of his kind -------- no , she feels older than his kind altogether. the smell of humans led him here. more specifically , blood. if he feels fear , it does not show on his face as he offers her a charming grin &* a sweeping , low bow. ❛ i hope you can forgive the intrusion , my lady. penthouse   remains   littered   with   leftover   evidence   of   a   get together   he’d   been   WARNED   not   to   have   in   the   first   place   –   mother’s   orders   ,   jestin   !   still   ,   now   he’s   left   with   a   mess   to   clean   up   and   an   IMPORTANT   DINNER   later   in   the   evening.   11am   and   you’d   expect   him   to   have   the   place   half   swept   ,   not   for   him   to   just   be   waking   up.   the   ache   in   his   back   from   falling   asleep   on   a   chair   (   bottle   in   hand   ,   now   half - shattered   on   the   carpet   )   remains   very   present   as   he   nearly   trudges   through   the   almost   empty   area.   “   hey   –   !   ”   his   arm   reached   out   ,   palm   gently   shoving   against   the   other’s   shoulder   to   wake   them   from   their   (   hangover ?   )   slumber   on   the   couch.   “   either   get   up   and   get   out   ,   or   get   up   and   help   me   clean   this   place   up.   i’ll   make   breakfast   if   you   do.   ”   yeah   ,   because   burnt   toast   and   overcooked   eggs   are   so   appealing   ,   right   ?
