my personal hc/canon adjustment of anders re: blood magic is I think he's like straight edge with it. can be surrounded by people who do it and is just a little uppity about abstaining. like I think he started down the creationism path and spirit healing pretty early so it's not super relevant, and when he's on the run he doesn't do it because he likes having that private petty victory over templars calling him maleficar when hes really not one, whether or not they believe him. he might be bad at staying escaped but at least he does it clean. by warden times my mage warden-commandrrs would probably wanna teach their mage recruits blood magic jic but he makes excuses to get out of lessons due to lingering templar paranoia and deep rooted andrastianism. by the time he's with justice his connection to the fade is so tight and he's still mostly healing so pulling from his mana is easier than blood magic would ever be. no point. no drugs for me I just want to be in this empty warehouse with you hawke

#unrelated post in the tags cuz im not gonna make you guys scroll thru two long dragon age 2 posts #but its funny how kind and sweet and understanding all ur companions are with u but the banter is so like that #everyone is boiled down to like 3 identifying traits that they trade barbs about #and youre lucky if you can glean the tiniest bit of character lore from it #all da games kind of have the issue where the writers lean on cattiness as a crutch for laughs when we need just a tiny bit of info or kind #ness please. but nothing comes to mind from origins or inquisition that quite matches anders coming out the gate #at fenris witj the 'why didnt you kill yourself' #and this has been said a million times but SO frustrating the lack of growth in 10 years
