Paradame - Wave

Paradame is a forward-thinking artist based in Seattle, Washington. Her music is driven, diverse and eclectic, soaking into different influences ranging from hip-hop to trip-hop, neo-soul, and chillwave.

The artist recently toiled on a brand new multi-media release, revolving around a single and a music video. The studio track is titled “Wave”, and it also comes accompanied by a tantalizing film clip, where the aesthetically spot-on visuals match the soundtrack perfectly. The tune immediately strikes for the fat, saturated synth bass tones, which, in my opinion, serve as the true backbone of the song. This is the sound you are greeted with as a listener, serving as a gateway into this stunning track.

Paradame has quite a few production tricks up her sleeves, and she loves to create a direct, in-your-face vibe with her sound, going for a punchy, vibrant and modern approach.

The rest of the arrangement falls into place seamlessly, just like pieces in a stunning musical mosaic. The arrangement is rich, deep and diverse, yet refreshingly simple and distinct.

J. Lee Mezuz, the mastermind behind this project, is also responsible for shooting and editing the video, besides producing the music. This highlights the great versatility of this performer, as well as her ability to aptly express herself across various media.

I love the fact that “wave” can be experimental and really “avant” when it comes to the song’s structure and arrangement, yet at the same time, this is a really catchy song with some relatable melodies. The track makes for a super accessible listening experience: you don’t need to be a connoisseur of all the nuanced subgenera that inspired it in order to enjoy it. Even casual EDM fans could easily dig this groove, and even better, this could be a perfect song as an introduction to something different and a bit more cross-contaminated than your run-of-the-mill electro-hop based tune.
