— godfather death. assorted post-reading notes for this post!

to no one's surprise this was SUPPOSED to be longer again LMAO but yeah!!! i was trying to limit my writing into smaller sections in order not to get so hung up on adding details....

anyway!!!! godfather death ft. viper siblings... well... the longer i thought about it, this would've been better if i placed the shroud siblings but i drew jamil on the randomizer so okay????

it's implied, but the viper parents have passed away already for this fic, around when jamil was seven years old. how old najma was then idk bc the game doesn't mention their gap LMAOOO but maybe around three or four years old tops?

actually in some renditions of the fairytale, the godchild is an only child or the youngest in the family. i was toying with the idea of najma being the godchild, but since jamil is the focus.......

now would jamil tell the whole truth about the herb + godfather appearing and stuff to najma??? well... he'd just tell her about the herb, that's all. i've wondered if other renditions of godfather death has the godchild mentioning the knowings of their treatment to others, but....

though i don't think najma wouldn't mind not being in the know as long as it doesn't harm anybody? like yeah nice herb so it heals ppl mhmmm no bad consequence on you or others? alriiight! this is probably the reason why she insisted on tagging along with jamil ever since he had healed her friend. she just wanted to make sure everything's ok (and also, just to see the herb work wonders again).

the thing about the godfather she'd really like to ask though, but if jamil's not gonna talk about it then fine.... but probably over time she decides to drop this completely bc if the herb is that powerful, then what about the person who used to hold it? maybe it was better that she didn't know and instead take things into stride. at first she was pretty skeptic about jamil's godfather like bruh u seriously had a godfather???

jamil here lives a rather ordinary life, very routine. it's no exaggeration to say that receiving the herb turned his and najma's lives upside down. they got by normally before, but as jamil slowly made use of the herb they were able to eat decently on a regular basis then eventually rake in more cash and eventually travel out of their hometown.

in some renditions of the tale, the godchild sets up a clinic themselves. here i find it more appropriate for jamil to choose traveling around healing people instead of opening a clinic himself considering his careful nature. those he heals aren't just for charity, either - he'd definitely account some benefit on the people he chooses to heal. though probably there are also those he chose to heal in order to up his reputation or to get some rumors going.

that aside, as jamil is careful, he'd prefer not many people be looking into him closely. explaining the herb to najma is one thing, but to other people... definitely not. being too renown is dangerous, and while the godfather had not mentioned any drawbacks about losing the herb or whatever, those are chances jamil would not risk.

i wanted to add a portion of najma and how she saw jamil as they traveled.... like, in normal cases, if someone had that powerful herb, they'd go around healing a lot of people as much as possible. someone like a saint, or a hero in fairytales. but the thing is, jamil is no saint, nor was he a hero. he was just... jamil. he could've done better, he could've done worse. but no, he did what he always did - be the older brother who did what he had to in order to live well.

okay now i didn't add a portion explaining the thing about death & the herb either. the if death is by the head of the patient, they could be cured but if death was by the feet they would die part. najma's last words would've made more sense if i added a portion hinting that she was getting an inkling of this. lazy me would say that its implied stuff or she gets to learn about it bc jamil tells her, but yeah. kinda regret not placing that there.

if i'd add that portion, it would probably go around the lines of najma wondering why sometimes, whenever jamil would visit a patient, he'd look at the person from head to toe then nod. well. it's not actually an odd thing to do, but eventually najma gets the feeling that jamil is nodding at someone. someone who is not the patient. thus she says her end line at the last scene: has your godfather come to visit me, too?

big question! would jamil trick his godfather to save najma just like the fairytale??? WELL! if u want an honest answer out of me i'd say no but the sap in me says yes what a pickle lmaoooo real reason why i left this hanging.........

........ the godfather i had in mind was sam but yeaaaah i think crowley would also fit here idk ksksksksksks

ok this is the fist one (still very pleased with colouring here T_T the stage lighting was,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, well yeah as always lmao) and this is the most recent (TBH DKJSKDSDK I WISH MY MOST RECENT POST COULD BE A DIFFERENT ONE THE ONE I WANNA MAKE FOR A MONTH NOW THE ONE ID PUT A LOT MORE EFFORTS IN SO IM A LIL FRUSTRATED i literally just missed giffing but couldnt watch anything new so took an old vid i wanted to gif once I DIDNT EVEN USE MYCOLOURING PSD IT LITERALLY HAS ONLY COUPLE OF LAYERS uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :( but whatever,,, it just kinda doesnt show the difference -_-)

well 👁👄👁 there r quite few,,, and the main reason is colouring most of these r comps and i a b s o l u t e l y sucked at comps and esp at making the colouring consistent there lol so lets begin lol  1 (u have no idea how muchi love this set) 2 (i fucking mastered it i wanted to remake it for two years and i finally did!! 60 fps smooth good moments iconic performance iconic hair colour his attitude bruh and ofc the fact that i could do sth with colouring,,,,,, and chose such an unusual colour scheme that i doubted jckdckfdk and it still worked out 🥺) 3 (lol i had this idea written down since 2018 as well and this year i could finally collect all moments i needed and oh boi yeah,,, AND COLOURING I COULD ALMOST yeah almost do sth decent with it there r still couple moments id changed but im pleased) 4 (im so happy whenevr i see this CUZ IT ALL WORKED OUT it was such an impulsive comp i literally only saw couple moments for past few years as well where i could see three of them in one frame and suddenly I WAS LIKE I FUCKING MUST POST THOSE MOMENTS SOMEHOW and im so proud of colouring it looks so well T_T) 5 (the colouring ofc im still :o that i could get rid of that shitty shit dkksjkj AND THE MOMENTS ITSELF?????? AND BLACK SWAN???????? EVERY PERFORMANCE???? HAIR?????? OUTFIT???????? EVRERYHTIGNM???????? HIS FUCKING STARE? FACE??? DONT MAKE ME CONTINUE AAAAAAAAAAA also if im not wrong this set in particular made me start my before/after posts 🥺) 6 (i jujst love everything about it e v e r yt h i n g also i could made ppl believe that jin fr has purple hair here when in reality its brown djhfdhskdf one of blending modes or adjustment layers worked this way lol) 7 (i wont even comment this tried a great tutorial with great beautiful resuls for the first time ever and it worked out so well and i like it so much and the whole yoongi here,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, also love me some borders that add cinematic feels to some gifs or just make them pretty in a dif way just like i did with prev post i mentioned imo lol) OK LAST ONE 8 (I USED A VIDEO OF STARS AND ADDED IT TO THE GIF FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER I FUCKED WITHMASKING FOR 3 HOURS GRRRRRRRR THIS IS SO HUGE FOR ME!!!!! i cant even explain whew IVE NEVER DID ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE SO I WAS REALLY PROUD TOO even tho i fucked masking up on some layers lmao but lets not pay too much attention to it 👀)

ohhhhhhhh i think this one cuz the moments were long i couldnt decide what do i want to include + it ts file so u kno,,, the speed,,, of processing,, + somehow decided to put them all together + fucked with colouring + had to get rid of the logo and as we know japan likes a lot of big braight text around haha and draw hair in moments where logo made it look blurry + had to adjust the order and all that stuff but getting rid of logo was the longest part

whew this iconic one im still amazed tbh they looked soso incredible and im glad how everything turned out here <3 (could change some colouring on bg tho so it could look better and more hq :c)

sorry for replying a bit late, I was out of the house and this is a REALLY long response. I had fun typing this out though! Thank you for so many prompts.

Nile croc: Is there something that stands out about your f/o upon seeing them? Are they insecure about it?

Well, some may in fact notice that he’s…not human at all? He stands about 8 feet tall, is completely made of metal, and has piercing blue eyes? I don’t think there’s anything that doesn’t stand out about him; you could pick him out of a crowd from a mile away.

Is he insecure about any of it? Nah. He basks in the fearful looks he gets from people, and how their eyes dart away if he looks over to them. Nobody in their right mind would want to start shit with a towering robot man, and he knows that.

Saltwater croc: How does canon treat your f/o? Are they a side character or a main character? Do they die in canon?

Let’s start with the fact that my man s.caramouche dies TWICE. 

HE DIES TWICE.

I’m glad they made him a recurring character rather than a one-off antagonist like so many others from the original 4 seasons, but when they brought him back I was hoping he’d at least live. While I personally would’ve liked to see him get a little bit of redemption (he could’ve been humbled as he journeyed around as just a severed head, and/or realized aku doesn’t care about him as much as he thought when he tries to call him), he could’ve just ran off after he tells aku about jack’s missing sword. But nah, when his use to the plot was done, they just had him explode. I felt the gripping dread in my heart when he said “I’ll bet my life on it!”. 

They had him go through all that shit just to have a 2 second death scene with no fight at all. He’s even drawn the best in episode 9, only to appear (with his full body) for like. less than a minute then die. 

Tl;dr, they did him dirty and I’ll never not be salty about it

Jackson’s Chameleon: What did you think about your f/o when you first saw/met/heard them? What do you think of them now?

The villains were always the most fun part of s.amurai j.ack, and s.caramouche is no exception at all. I, along with everyone i’ve shown him to was thrown way off by his voice at first. The night of the premiere, I was having a blast seeing what a ridiculous, silly, yet quite threatening antagonist they added. A fun villain, sad to see him go at the end of the first episode.. (then everything else happened lol)

I was smitten within a few days, after going back and looking at gifsets/screencaps of him in the tags here. Fast forward 2 years, and I call him the love of my life lmao. He’s a cocky bastard but I love him so much

Leopard Gecko: Is your f/o cute? Would they be considered ‘ugly’ by other’s/today’s standards? What do you think of their physical appearance?

Yes? He’s precious. 

Speaking for the average person you’d encounter in public though, he’d probably be more than just a bit off-putting. Exaggerated chin/jaw, bald, those are 2 things some people may not go for. (s.caramouche sweetie i am SO sorry for saying that omg) If he was human, I wouldn’t find him attractive at all (i feel terrible saying these things). Not to mention his unpainted metal exterior with visible rivets and bolts.

But speaking as me? He’s cute, handsome, sexy, any positive word you can use to describe appearance, it applies here. I love his generally sharp and angular design, and his wicked sneer. And his height? Man, he’s perfect. He’s still inhumanly tall, but he’s not so giant that he can’t fit anywhere, like a transformer.

Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake: When did you fall in love with your f/o? Was it love at first sight?

It wasn’t quite love at first sight, I started really crushing on him a couple days after the first episode of season 5 premiered, back in 2017. I went into the tags to learn his name since I missed it the first time around, and it was all downhill from there... This crush lasted about the normal time span, a few months I guess, until other characters showed up and I moved on.

But the next year? I was reminded by a friend how I used to have the hots for him and I fell all over again, 10 times harder. Since the beginning of last year, 99% of my art has been me and him. I’ve completed an entire sketchbook of only self insert trash, and he’s been on my mind all day every day. For the sake of simplicity, I consider our anniversary to be the airdate of the first episode, March 11th.  

I’ve been so hung up on him, he’s influenced my taste in fashion, music, and my personality. He’s made me a better person! And I like to imagine I can do the same for him.

1- how many books are too many books in a series?

Anything past 3 or 5 books. If you can't tell your story within a reasonable frame of time, then you're just padding your story up with fluff to meet a word count or milk your audience as much as possible. There are exceptions, of course. But most of the time, the author dicks around way too much and put the plot on the back burner for no reason.

2- what do you think about cliff-hangers?

They're great when used effectively to keep a reader hooked for the next book in the series. I don't hate them as much as most people but I do know where they're coming from as it's both a greedy strategy to prologue a series's lifespan and possibly bad writing if the author simply didn't know how to end it.

3- hardback or paperback?

Both are fine but hardback has a longer lifespan while paperback is cheaper.

4- least favourite book?

The Road

5- Love Triangle, yes or no?

Yes, if done well with an actual likable person in the center of it. Kinda annoying when it's this real bland chick who's getting chased by a sweet prince and a funny thief (for example). Makes me wonder what they see in her. There's always someone under-developed in a love triangle. Either the person getting pined or one of the love interests which makes it obvious that they're not the winner here.

6- the most recent book you just couldn’t finish

An Artist in a Floating World. It's just really boring and I'll be real, I've been disillusioned with Japanese storytelling; it's rather lackluster as it either trying too much or cater to a crowd.

One POV. Multi POV is fine-ish but a lot of the times, authors can't write it well. If multi POV is the gimmick of the novel or if the shift of POV presents something a single POV wouldn't do. Of course, gimmick doesn't equal good. I think an example of bad multi POV gimmick books would be Lady in the Lake. Like you can definitely tell that the author just didn't know what perspective to use and some of the alternative POV was just useless. Other bad multi POV is when it's obvious there's a favored character who get's most of the spotlight which trivializes the importance of the other multi POV and boils it into "This one character is super amazing!"

18- do you read a book in one sitting or in multiple days?

I used to read one book in just a sitting. Still do for really good books. But I can make it a multiple day thing if the book just sucks.

How do people chose liking stuff over reblogging?

Like, I only press that heart button for posts that I really, really want to save for future uses. Reblogs just end up getting pushed down and ultimately get left behind in the dust but still makes your page look active. There’s no “saving” aspect when it comes to reblogging. If you really like a post, why would you just save it like a hording dragon instead of showing it off to other people and having it be marked as a testament on your blog that this post got this far. 

Besides, if you end up liking everything, then you’re just going to have a messy like tab and you won’t find that one specific post you remember. With a reblog, even if you never liked it but you suddenly want to see it again, you can just use the search function and the post is still there on your blog. 

IDK it just seem like backwards logic to me and creators are suffering because of it. Just... reblog. It’s really that easy. I don’t give a fuck if your blog has a theme- I know damn well that people have the bare minimum of two blogs with one being specific and one being general. Just reblog it on your general blog. The fuck? Download the xkit extension if it’s too hard. It’s boggling why it’s a debate.

***to anyone who may stumble on this that i know irl (including my future self) i am aware that i am reading into many things and im not taking everything actually this seriously okay

SHINNS PARTY/THOUGHTS ON ANTHONY B4 throwback to a week ago, at shinn’s going away party. they told me to invite teresa and i said “i’ll see if she’s free” and then didnt invite her, bc 1) i like to be myself at parties and i cant be when i’m with her, and 2) i didnt want her to flirt with anthony :) at some point, anthony gave me his jacket, then i got warm later and took it off. at another point, josh gave me his jacket, and then i later gave it back too lol. also anthony is so sweet, i went over to sit by him to eat the macaroni tuna salad i made for erryone, but then the seat next to him was full, so he insisted i take his seat lol but in my head i was like um i want to just chat next to you but after he gave me his seat he left lmao. 

SHINN’S PARTY CONT (taking pics) then later we were taking group pics and anthony put his arm around me for a few, then he like realllllly put his arm around me. like i was wearing a crop top and so his hand wrapped around my waist was very sensual. i put my hand tight on his waist back (back as in he did it first, not as in on his back), but in hindsight i shouldve grabbed his and moved it tighter or something lol. we kept it like that for a few pics, and broke and then took more pics. josh thought he could do the same thing so he also put his arm sensually on me hahahahaha. in hindsight again, i should have moved his hand further lol. sitting on the couch he also was letting his leg touch mine, which i did not care about, but now i’m wondering if it meant something to him. 

THOUGHTS ON JOSH josh has done a few cringey things that i think are hilarious but i dont tell anyone lol, and idk if he’ll remember them and he’ll probably never bring them up. also i’m nice to him bc we’re FRIENDS so maybe he’s reading into that? i brought him cane’s post-his-birthday-throw-up bc im a good person and it was his birthday lol. i had told him how justin was always texting me and how i’d wait like hours to respond, and now josh is texting me about tamuhack and so maybe he’s reading into that bc im actually replying? which is because when i text justin, josh knows i wait, so maybe he thinks that since i’m not waiting im into him?? i don’t want him to get any wrong hints???? ugggghhhhh (also i could be reading into things myself, like when i thought he was asking me out so i rejected him but then he said it was supposed to be a group thing, to which madison thinks is bs and im pretty sure i do too. UGH I ALREADY TOLD HIM IM NOT INTO HIM. i’ve already pondered it for a while and decided no)

MY PICKUP SKILLZ in hindsight, apparently my current “moves” on anthony could be perceived as subtle, and adding him on snap and swiping up on shinn’s story of him playing guitar probs wasn’t enough.

in retrospect, i should just do what i want and stop caring about hurting people’s feelings. which is why i wanna openly flirt with anthony at shinn’s next coming back/going away party. this is my plan (imma reread it and be like that’s still too subtle):

so convo got interrupted, then at some point, josh is bringing up shooting again, but i kinda end it and talk to miggy again. and i say, “sooo ummm about anthony.... well i am also single. and i also think he’s cute.” cue, “Adri?!?!?!? i didn’t know you were into younger guys?!?” and i don’t think i said anything (maybe “yeah?”) but i kinda made this face like “hmm never really thought about it?” then he comes close and he quietly basically says like “not in like a judgy way or anything, but are you the type to smash around?” and i again cannot remember what i said but it was like nodding my head and saying a hearty (confident?) “yeah” whatever that means!! but in my head i was like “yas i prefer it that way!!” and “bruh i literally graduate in 4 months.” and i was like “is that what he wants” and he was like “mm yeah?” i think, and i think i nodded??? i wish i could remember?????????? 

idk if josh heard any of that. but miggy probs is gonna tell anthony??? i haven’t told teresa any of this??? do u think miggy will tell josh??? maybe only if josh brings it up first, i am confident in miggy’s ability to shoot him down and be like “um nah fam” lol. 

what if he does that and josh doesn’t surrender? or if he gets mad??? um here’s my comeback if he ever casually brings it up lol. “remember when you introduced me to all your friends at litmas?? and you were like “that’s michael, he’s the one who blablabla. that’s so and so, and he blahblahblah. and now that’s anthony. anthony makes water wet.” and do you know what I think about when i think of anthony now lmao.
