CJRB Feldspar Pocket Folding Knife- The detent was a first for me.
I’m normally a Traditional knife guy. I like the sod buster, Barlow, canoe etc etc. Types of knives. But coming out of my comfort zone and looking at within my budget “modern style knives”. Surprisingly very impressed. I like a simple knife guy.. see Sod Buster.. single blade locking knife. Now these new style modern takes, I have to say have impressed me no end. Here is a perfect example of…

If I can get my hands on it, I want to use it, see the build quality, and check out…

im still interested in folding knives obviously but tbh ive been more into fixed blades lately. my problem with folding knives is that framelocks and liner locks are borrinnnggggg and the cool locking mechanisms dont have enough designs for them . the shark lock is neat but its like, so comically oversized. i like the recoil lock (knockoff of Axis lock that cjrb/artisan made when the parent expired, that instead of just being through the two sides it goes over the top) but the CJRB ones seem to be using really cheap cast metal for the engagement area and artisan only makes one knife for the recoil lock at a higher price point and i dont like it. benchmade makes a lot of meh stuff and not very innovative designs with a butterfly tax, hogue’s version of the axis lock is apparently good and i like the compound grind on the wharncliffe Deka but thats like the only piece and its still not a bizarre and unusual blade shape enough for me, and outside of that, there’s plenty of interesting autos with neat grinds, but its lame that no auto has a drop shut action. it’d be cool if it disengaged with the spring on close and you had a charging handle/lever instead so that the action could still drop shut cleanly. thats the sort of thing i want with the knife i want to design, but im not good enough at understanding mechanisms to draft something up, plus i dont have the means to make prototypes. as it stands, i still wanna just buy a nice pocketknife, but i dont have the ability to purchase goods online still.
as far as fixed blades thats a whole other can of worms but in general i want a sort of modified-tanto chisel-pointed/kiridashi/razelcliffe type small fixed blade, and then a larger survival knife. ive been drafting up some drawings for a larger survival knife, but i dont know enough about ergonomics for the handle. the blade concept i have inklings but i dont know the perfect implementation of my ideas since i cant test them

I like the CJRB Scoria but I’m very disappointed that they put the price up to 70$ by putting the titanium pocket clip on there. like, cmon man. just gimme the clip off the feldspar (a knife you can get for like half the price) and put some gimping on the flipper and maybe a bit on the start of the spine. but i do want it which sucks.
