Hello everyone! It’s been, uh, a while! Much longer than I initially said my hiatus would be! My god, SO much longer. A LOT of stuff has happened in the 9 months I’ve been away, and a few have been potentially life changing. Content warning, this post will talk about COVID and mention a death in the family. Don’t read if this is content that upsets you.
TLDR; I’ve had quite a few significant life complications that have taken precedence and prevented me from engaging in my hobbies, and maintaining this blog, and while I can’t promise consistent activity from now on, I am determined to break the hiatus and get back on here to write! After all, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy! (Of course, Jack could never be the dull one around here but Sharkie very much was. I know this joke isn’t funny just let me get it out) I’ve even commissioned a promo along with some fresh new icons that will be coming soon to kickstart my break from hiatus and into some semi-regular activity!
So first off, right around the time I made my last few posts, I got COVID a second time, and this time it really messed me up. It has left me even more disabled physically AND mentally, and my stamina in both is nothing short of abysmal. I got severe long COVID that I’m still battling with, and it made functioning in any way a monumental task. I’m almost positive I have some minor brain damage. My already bad lungs and chronic pain got worse, my mental health dipped extremely badly (I developed some new OCD rituals that have made typing a nightmare unfortunately) and I was trying to survive all of this while keeping a job that was extremely physically demanding. I’d already had to quit a previous one due to my disability and a lack of understanding that pushed me much too hard, and I really wanted to keep this one because I actually had training and a certificate in that line of work. Unfortunately I was forced to quit my second as well due to my stamina being severely reduced by COVID making it so that I could no longer handle a day of work without at least two days of recovery, as well as long term damage to my body from work itself that I was not comfortable with continuing to sacrifice for my paycheck. (most significant and the ones that have affected my return to writing have been significant tinnitus, carpal tunnel and tendinitis, lung damage, and even more brain fog, this time due to fatigue and constant sensory overload). Not long after I recovered from COVID the second time, my Uncle also got COVID and unfortunately passed away. It was sudden and traumatic and for a good while all of my emotional energy was spent with my family and trying to help my aunt who suffered a severe emotional break from the event. And during all of this, ever since the day I made my hiatus post, I have been struggling with some severe burnout in pretty much every category imaginable. I have been dealing with severe autistic burnout which has affected me since December and made recovery that much more difficult, as well as creative burnout that has prevented me from drawing or writing much since even before last December. That burnout plus the overwhelming exhaustion from overwork and physical and mental health issues has made it so I have barely drawn anything in over a year, and I haven’t written consistently for around a year. Along with those challenges, I haven’t had much time to engage in my hobbies as I’ve been working towards independent living, which as a disabled person is a nightmare of an obstacle coarse. In some ways this effort has necessitated my hiatus as well as the overwork I’ve done to myself in order to have enough credit and money to become independent legally. I’ve gotten pretty far, but until I’ve got everything in order I may still be struggling on finding a consistent and healthy work and hobby balance. But that’s where something came to help refresh my creativity a little bit. I got a new muse, funnily enough connected to Samurai Jack! I started checking out Lupin the Third while I was going down the rabbit hole of influences and references that appeared in the Samurai Jack show (and also trying to research the existence of the Japanese dub for Samurai Jack) and got hooked on the treasure trove of an animation history foundation block it is. As someone interested in pursuing a career in animation and loves old cartoons (shocking.) I was drawn into the old 60-70s originated show like a moth to a flame. Soon after watching a bit I found a great muse to help me recover from burnout without abandoning Jack, and in fact supporting him due to the fact that there are clear inspirations and references within Samurai Jack to Goemon Ishikawa XIII. While I allowed Jack’s muse to rest so as not to push him to the point where I didn’t enjoy it anymore, I decided to switch over to him for a while. By now I have reached a point where I’m in a place to bring back Jack and rp them both, and I may even do crossovers with them! Thankfully not everything personal has been gloomy: in a purely positive update, I dyed my hair pastel lavender like I’ve wanted to do since I was in middle school! This is something that’s helped lift my spirits a lot so I thought I’d share. If I ever do a mun day I may share, my entire face not included.

Taking a resveratrol supplement every morning has become a daily habit for many healthy people. Resveratrol creams and supplements have seen a dramatic surge in popularity over the last year thanks to research from the US National Library of Medicine, The Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology and the National Institute of Health. Most supplements you’ll find on the market have little to no scientific research to back up their claims. To make matters more complicated, the ones that do have research often sponsor it themselves, leading to biased conclusions.
Resveratrol is not like the other supplements on the market. Time and again, research by government and scientific institutions has proven one thing: there are an incredible amount of health benefits from taking resveratrol.
In this buyers guide, we’ll be exploring the best resveratrol supplement (not to be confused with the best resveratrol creams). We will explore the following topics:

There’s no shortage of supplements on the market that claim to be good for your health. So why take resveratrol? In the next two sections, we’ll be going over the health benefits of resveratrol supplements, or at least what manufacturers claim, and analyzing each one to see if they’re scientifically sound or just hype.
“Claimed” Resveratrol Supplement Benefits:
Potent anti-oxidant
Helps Prevent cancer
Cardio-vascular benefits
Weight-loss benefits
Prolongs lifespan
Prevention of neuro-degenerative diseases (such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s)
The First Resveratrol Research
At some point in your life, you may have been told to eat grapes, or drink a glass of wine because of vague “health benefits”. Back then, people didn’t know why wine had health benefits – but now we do thanks to scientific literature.
In 2006, the first comprehensive research into resveratrol began through Bentham Science. In the preliminary findings, researchers discovered incredible benefits for small animals. Their cells lived longer, cancer developed less frequently, their hunger decreased, their cardiovascular health improved, and lastly, they developed neuro-degenerative and metabolic diseases less often. But that was only one research study.
Later in 2012, Cell.com hired their own team of scientists to verify whether or not the study could be duplicated. And it was replicated with success – in fact, they found resveratrol to be even more potent than their predecessors. Once again, the animals that were tested experienced the dramatic health benefits of the Bentham Science study. Cell’s research found that additionally, resveratrol helped to prevent and combat obesity.

Resveratrol Supplementation vs Cancer
On April 15th of 2012, the National Library of Medicine published a comprehensive study of how resveratrol interacted with cancer and skin diseases. The research left everyone with an incredible cliff hanger. The studies found that resveratrol had an insane potential for combating all 3 stages of cancer and suggested that pharmacists begin to find a way to commercialize it. Additionally, resveratrol cream was found to be extremely powerful against skin cancer specifically.
The Challenges & Downside of Resveratrol Supplement
The biggest issues that resveratrol research encountered was that the supplement is low on bio-availability. What this means is that your body processes resveratrol with such speed that it’s difficult to find a sustainable way to increase intake.
Additionally, naturally occuring forms of resveratrol are ruled out (wines, grapes, nuts) because there isn’t nearly enough resveratrol in those foods to have an impact. For example, to get a significant dose of resveratrol through red wine, you’d have to drink over 7,000 bottles – daily.
As it stands, supplementation is the only way to get sufficient resveratrol to see benefits, whether it’s through pills or creams. However, it must be done in a consistent manner.
Further research by the Linus Pauling Institue found that resveratrol can interfere with some medication. This includes medication for HIV, Anti-Histamines, and Steroids.
Verified benefits:
Powerful anti-oxidant.
Helps prevent all 3 stages of cancers.
Improves cardiovascular health.
Helps with aging.
Helps prevent neurodegenerative and metabolic diseases
Helps with weight-loss.
Downsides/Myths
Prolongs cellular life, not human lifespan.
Difficult to ingest through natural foods.
Interferes with some medication.
Helps prevent cancers other than skin cancer.

Cortisone Shot: Relief All Over
Here at Divante Laser MedSpa, we have many different kinds of skin treatments that help with your wrinkle reduction, growing hair, and more. Many of our injectables and similar services are all about making you look younger and feel better. Some, however, like the cortisone shot, have a wide variety of uses beyond just making you look better. Cortisone can do quite a bit for you, more than most people realize. Below, we’ll go over the many benefits of Cortisone, as well as what it is and how it can help you. Cortisone Explained We’ve all been in stressful situations. When those occur, your body has to respond somehow. To use an example, imagine that you drive to work, but you can’t find a parking spot. You’re almost out of time, but you have to find a parking space. This is a stressful situation, so your body responds in kind. There’s a small area at the base of your brain called the “hypothalamus.” It sends an alarm relay throughout your body. One place that picks it up is your adrenal glands. They respond to that stress signal by releasing a number of hormones. These include adrenaline (which you’re probably familiar with) and one hormone you might not be called “cortisol.” You know what adrenaline does in a stressful situation: it gives you energy. Cranking up your heart rate and raising your blood pressure. Cortisol, for lack of a better phrase, essentially focuses your body. You know how when you’re really stressed out when you’re in a fight or flight situation, and you all of a sudden aren’t worried about much except what’s right in front of you? Much of this is Cortisol. Cortisol basically shuts down functions that wouldn’t help or would even get in the way in a stressful situation. Your digestive system, your reproductive system – Cortisol (among other tasks) decreases their influence (along with other factors in your body) during a stressful moment. At this point, you might be thinking: “OK, I get that. But then why would I want something that does that injected into my body?” Well, that’s not all that Cortisol does. It also helps make substances that repair tissues more available and abundant during a stressful situation. We included the above information to show you that Cortisol is a natural substance which is found in your body. This isn’t something foreign or created in a lab and injected into you with unknown side effects. Instead, it’s something your body naturally produces, with quite a few great health benefits. Cortisone for Inflammation Cortisol is not Cortisone.  For one thing, the Cortisone we use has a bit of a pain reliever in it, too. Many people use Cortisone to get rid of inflammation in certain parts of their body. However, while that may make you feel better in the long run, it probably won’t in the moment. That’s because Cortisone doesn’t really have a pain reliever by itself. That’s why we put a bit of safe, effective pain reliever in there as well so that this shot is as pleasant an experience as possible. Most people don’t know Cortisone as a potential beauty treatment; they only know it as a way to fight inflammation. There’s a reason for that: it’s quite effective at treating inflammation. In fact, it can help with inflammation almost immediately. Many doctors will inject Cortisone into practically any part of the body that’s suffering from inflammation. Then, within a matter of days, the inflammation will decrease significantly or outright disappear. If you can think of something related to inflammation, then Cortisone probably treats it: gout, plantar fasciitis, tendinitis, bursitis and more. It’s even been proven to be quite effective at providing help with arthritis: that includes rheumatoid arthritis, reactive arthritis, psoriatic and others. Many have found relief through Cortisone for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, so-called “trigger finger” and other problems. Those are just an inkling of some of the ways that people have been able to use Cortisone to feel better.  At Divante, those aren’t the only ways that we use Cortisone. A Cortisone Shot at Divante If you’d like, we can discuss how we can use Cortisone to help arthritis and other ailments. However, that’s far from the only way that we can use Cortisone at our location. As we’re a MedSpa, much of our work is about making people look better. Botox, Kybella, laser hair removal – all of these services can make people look and feel younger. Many don’t know this, but Cortisone can be used in exactly the same faction. That’s because a shot of Cortisone is remarkably good at getting rid of acne. Acne is annoying when you’re a teenager. As you go through puberty, you may develop acne which can cause any number of problems. Of course, once you come out of adolescence, there’s a feeling of “I’m done with acne.” Unfortunately, for many of us, that’s not the case. Acne can continue on into adulthood, and in some cases, it may even be worse. Take, for example, cystic acne. We’ve all had that experience of a pimple or zit on our face that we popped. Maybe we shouldn’t have (we definitely shouldn’t have) but there was a pimple on our face, despite our best efforts at washing, and in a fit of frustration, we just popped it. That happens all the time, and while it may lead to a breakout in a similar region on the face, it most likely won’t lead to a larger issue. For the most part, that acne isn’t cystic acne. There’s something rewarding about seeing a pimple on your face, and then using any number of ointments, creams, and treatments, mixed with rigorous face washing, and then seeing the pimple decrease and wither until it ultimately disappears. That’s a great feeling no matter your age. However, when that doesn’t occur, then the opposite is true. It can be genuinely scary to do everything right, to treat your acne as you should, and then see it not be reduced in the slightest. That very well could be a sign of cystic acne. Part of the reason that this acne is so difficult to get rid of is that it’s not just on the outer layer of your face. It’s underneath the skin, where it’s much harder to get rid of. So, even if you wash your face diligently with the best products, even if you pick at it quite a bit – you can’t quite get to it, because it’s burrowed down in there. One treatment can get to it, however: a shot of Cortisone. Anti-Inflammatory Extraordinaire We mentioned earlier that people use a shot of Cortisone as an anti-inflammatory treatment for their arthritis and the like. That’s also what makes Cortisone so effective for your cystic acne, too. It calms the cystic acne, deflating it. Moreover, it doesn’t do this in a superficial way; it does it from the “inside,” from underneath the skin. As opposed to a topical treatment that’s, well, topical, and thus unequipped to deal with cystic acne where it actually is, a shot of Cortisone can be injected where your acne is and get rid of it quickly. The same goes for many scars as well. Cortisone can assist with those, as well as ingrown hairs and other treatments. This blog was too long, and it was barely able to touch on many of the other ways that Cortisone can treat you. There are so many more we just didn’t have the ability to cover. To find out more about how Cortisone can make you look and feel better, schedule a free consultation with us. We’ll lay out how this or another treatment could help when you call Divante at (818) 334-4737.
