this ask about whether ravenstan ever gets to read jerseykyle’s letters from his special stan notebook is taking me a while because i’m in the writing mood and want it to sound really nice, but there’s this soul crushing part i just finished writing abt kyle often not even using the journal to write stan letters, but rather, as a utility tool where he takes down notes of things he needs to remember or…grocery lists for things the house needs.

and i wrote this little stream of consciousness about how kyle feels in grocery stores that broke my heart a little and i wanted to share it with all of you because i think it speaks a lot to how he’s struggling and how his broken psyche works and whirs almost robotically. anyways there is a large tw for ed, please heed that warning and read with caution. i promise i never write from a place of shock value, my work is always written as a cautionary tale and an authentic depiction of just how much our warped perceptions can alter out real lives.

How about Gordon & BoCo for the dynamic ask? I can't remember if you've done them before but it's a dynamic I feel is incredibly fun, especially in the days of dieselization where it's Gordon who's the first big engine to come around to diesels.

#okay i promise i'm going to get off tumblr and actually get something decent done #but i just have to mention that i started reading 'thief liar lady' #the cinderella retelling where she's pulling a con #which i did not have high expectations for because that concept screams 'we're going to prove how dumb the original cinderella story is' #so i have to give it credit that so far it's pleasantly surprising me by pulling back every time it's about to do something stupid #within the first page or two we have 'they say the slippers were glass and the carriage was made of a pumpkin which is so dumb' #which seems like standard cinderella bashing but it's also framed as an explanation of the magic system #as in 'this is a waste of magic based on the rules' not 'this story is stupid and my 'real' one is better' so i can live with it #we have the enemy prince she's trying to con but he's not a dumb strawman royal #he's actually a sweet guy and a shrewd diplomat #all the royals are actually getting credit for talents as well as flaws #no strawmen in sight (i still shudder to remember 'just ella') #it feels like real politics #and there is *so much* politics and i am eating it up #(which makes me realize that one of the reasons i love cinderella retellings is that there's a lot of potential for politics) #we did have a scene where she goes into the throne room and meets a strange disheveled nobleman lounging on the throne #which made me roll my eyes because you could not have had a more obvious 'meeting the ya love interest' scene #but then there's a scene where she's like 'i don't care about embroidery' #and i internally groaned #but then she's like 'but i do like the embroidery circle because it's relaxing to be away from the men for a while' #so to my delight i could cancel the 'not like other girls' alert #the queen is feminine and her social skills are presented as a vital political skill #the swearing is really stupid and out of place and brings the book down #and i know that there'll most likely be something that makes me stop reading it before the 25% mark #but i do want to give the book credit for pleasantly surprising me #i'm liking it more than i otherwise would because of all the ways i was expecting it to disappoint me

As a certified FF6 enjoyer I really loved the attention the characters got in OO so much. I think maybe the writers had a soft spot for a few games in particular and 6 was definitely one of them. They really captured the charming spirit of the Returners, and they were also multi-dimensional in characterization as well, which they absolutely could have been lazy with for a mobile gacha game. I think there was a lot of love put into it and I can't imagine how the team feels having the game axed before the story got a chance to finish. :(

BUT LIKE. HONESTLY. I AM. AUTISTIC ABOUT THE ART PROCESS ITSELF. ABOUT SHAPE LANGUAGE AMD COLOR LANGUAGE AND HOW A DESIGN IS LIKE. A Strong character design with a clear intention behind it should not just Look Cool (though that is an added bonus!!!) it should tell a story in and of itself!!!!!!!! That, even at a glance, you can get a feel for who this character is, what their personality is, what role they play and/or are forced into, AND ALSO!!!

Something I'm esp autistic about tbh as someone who has an interest in fashion/crafting/sewing as well, how the clothes Work With the character. In a few different ways: again, the clothes themselves tell a story! The costuming! But also! How does the character move in them? What does that Say about that character? Where are they from? Not to mention the shape language/colors come back again, now w alllll the fucked up shit you can do with fabric!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fluffy? Not just in the fur sense (eg, a petticoat with bouncy puffy frills)? Could be a really bubbly character!!! Flowy? Graceful? Could be someone who's mature, knowledgeable, wise. A female character who opts to wear shorts instead of a skirt? Could be sporty! Or practical! And also in general Big Clothes/accessories can make a character look imposing.

LIKE...... reading this over it is so basics character design 101 but like. I am ALWAYS frothing at the mouth about it 😅
