he's (C) fucking gone on mr. queen

C started watching when i was chromecasting ep 3, side-eyeing the show while waiting for the toaster over to pop

and when he got his dinner he just quietly sat next to me, ignoring all my "hahah yeah i know it's ridiculous but kdramas and stuff are like that, it's fun bc it's cringe..."

C, eating and staring at the screen "this is hilarious"

after three episodes in a row and 2am "are you watching more? will you let me know when you watch more?"

when we reached the surit-nal episodes he was metaphorically nail-biting and before the resolution C was enthusiastically postulating who could be behind the events

we roped a third friend (E) in and started over (C and me on ep 17)

C's reactions + supplementary E interaction:

i didn't want to admit that i had a soft spot for kim byeong im, but C hates him. then E was like "he's so cute" and i just... same. but i'm sorry my guy, you gotta move on

"UGH, him again?! move ON!" C on kim byeong im

"I love her," he says with full seriousness on court lady choi. i also love her

"pr-pregante?!?!?!?!" ("am i gregnant???" he loves the pregnant yahoo answers video)

E isn't into cheoljong in the beginning (his drowsy, slow-witted act), but C just gives her Looks of Disdain every time she says that

"the king is soooo much better than that guy" (C talking about cheoljong vs kim byeong im)

he loves how cheoljong's.... everything. but especially the way he laughs. "hah. hah. hah," with full teeth, open mouth, and lips.

(whenever something requires a sarcastic laugh irl, C starts staring at me and laughing like cheoljong. i don't know if it's better or worse than his deliberate frenchy laugh "hon hon hon")

"you called him a... a 'simp'? what does that mean??" > one episode later > "you SIMP"

"NO Dumb Cousin, sTOP" (on kim hwan) "UGH HE's SO DUMB" (i know kim hwan is dumb of ass, but he's good of heart and i love him)

"aaaahh, she's amazing..." whenever court lady choi does anything

he starts bouncing in his seat whenever the music indicating 'shenanigans' starts in the background

"huh. that's what he looks like when he smiles" (on re-watching the early episodes and seeing kim jwa geun+kim byeong im actually express positive emotions)

"OOOOOOOOOO DISRESPECT!" (the kim jwa geun sword thing) "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GET OUTTA HERE"

he picked up a lot of american slang and increased swearing from me (+ my weird diction), which is quite different from his mild quebecois way of speaking "hmmm, 'never show your whole ass', eh?" (letting irrationality and emotional state control your actions, making a mess of things, being a hot mess)

two episodes after... "guy, stop showing your whole ass!!!!"

"oh.h my GOD. consort. consort.... i thought better of you! ... her whole ass is out..." (on jo hwa jin)

seeing all the food in the show and being reminded of how much rice our apartment eats (for 2 white guys + me) "wow we are rice bitches" (< that's it. we can't send him back to canada)

"AAA THEM!!!!" *pointing violently at the screen* when court lady choi + royal cook do their thing

when kim hwan goes through his romantic turmoil "bwaaahahahaa!!! RIP!!! HAHAHAHAHA!!!"

"one more episode. i mean, .... if you have time... and i have time.... oh wait let me play overwatch w [my bf] first, will you be awake after?? ok one more episode" (i told him i'll go do my nighttime routine and wait)
