Eli had not expected, when he got his job at the mall, that it was going to suck as much as it did. He'd thought it would suck a little, because all jobs did, but that at the end of the day, it would still be easy. Easier then what he'd been doing before, at least.
That had been, of course, before the killers had struck and the mall had had serious need for its legal team. It was in no means what Eli had signed up for, but he knew if he quit, he'd never hear the end of it from his dad - even as an adult, in his thirties, he could hear the phrase 'winners never quit and quitters never win' ringing in his ears. Of course, he had quit quite a few things despite that, but this, for some reason, was not one of them.
It didn't mean, though, that he wasn't going to do his best to pawn his job off on someone else. He wasn't sure why he was trying Maya today, because she always said no, without hesitation, but he thought maybe it wouldn't hurt to try, since everyone else seemed busy. "Maya, hey!" He said, putting on his best charming smile, and holding the stack of papers he was hoping to give her behind his back. "Great day out, isn't it?"
