Wanderer of Dreams Part One.

For this story, the chosen twin is Aether and Lumine is the Abyss twin.

Aether stretched his arm as far as he could but no matter how far he ran, Lumine was farther. "LUMINE!" He yelled, slowly his sister's figure was fading, panic rushed throughout his body until Lumine fully faded into nothingness. Aether had lost his sister, forever.

He woke up in cold sweat.

Aether was sweating profusely while grasping for breathe as if he was dying. Did someone bring him here? Was it just a bad dream? Did he warp into another world? No... this was reality.

His long journey with his floating companion was... a dream? Memories flooded in, the night before... he fell asleep after finishing his short story about a traveller ending up in a foreign world finding his lost twin. His dream had reenact his story.

"What the fuck..." Aether mumbled clutching his head, he looked st the mirror on the wall near his bed. He looked the same as he did in his dream, just with different clothes.

"Do I even have a sister?" Aether thought to himself out loud, "So uhm, that dream felt so real" The blonde said removing the blanket that draped over his legs.

Okay- so ignoring the fact that he almost fell like thrice while trying to stand up is a clear definition is he probably slept for a long time. Aether glanced at the clock on the wall, "Oh, 9:40" he said, "WAIT DON'T I HAVE TO GO TO THAT EDUCATION BUILDING THING AT 6:00" He panicked, as he hurried to put on something to replace his sweaty pajamas, "Wait no, I can just skip" he said to himself before falling back on the soft mattress. So Aether just laid there until 10:00 to take a bath, after taking bath and feeling refreshed he got a text message. Poor guy forgot how to use a phone for a minute.

He got a text message from someone named "Green cockroach" saying "Aether where the fuck are you" confusion settled in but he decided to shoot a reply.

Aether: Who r u

Green cockroach: Can't you see from my contact name? Did you get amnesia or smth

Aether: um no, it says green cockroach

Green cockroach: wHAt wait who the fuck is this

Aether: Aether, I think

Green cockroach: Wdym "I think" oml I think u did get amnesia aether😰

Aether: ok but who r u

Green cockroach: Venti, ur bsf

Aether: What does bsf mean

So maybe Aether was a bit fucked, Venti who he knows from his dream is the Anemo Archon is his best friend in this world, and Zhongli is here too!? Yah Aether just act like you lost your memory because he actually did and now he forgot about his "real life" if Aether was being honest, he could really use a Paimon right now.

His train of thoughts was broken to the sound of the front door being furiously unlocked and his name being called out, "AETHER ARE YOU OKAY DID YOU GET AMNESIA???" That must be this world's Venti, trusting his instinct he just locked his bedroom door and blocked it with a chair from a desk.

The doorknob was rattling, a lot, thank archons this Venti didn't have the key to his bedroom, "Aether, open this door" A deep voice erupted from the other side of the door, is that this world's Zhongli? "No!" Aether yelled which made the doorknob rattle a lot faster.

"Aether-"

"NO"

"Please open the door? Tell us what happened, you can trust us..." This world's Venti said, "How do I know that? Trust you, I mean" Aether said.

On the other side, Venti just gasped and his eyes widened, he really thought this was just a prank but it feels like Aether really did lose his memory, Zhongli seeing this reacted quickly, "Aether, you may forgot who we are but we know who you are so please let us in" He said reassuringly.

"I'm jumping out the window" was all Aether said.

this was actually a very interesting dynamic to write about, as we all know ei here is using raiden shogun as some sorts of vessel or perhaps the term 'puppet' is more fitting. so raiden shogun is less willing and will definitely not let you meet ei herself unless you're accompanying either of the travelers.

so let's see it as this, aether paying the plane of euthymia a visit to check up on ei but with you offering to accompanying him, albiet curious by the almighty shogun. of course, aether had already provided you with the true story of ei's realm made out of her will and consciousness.

the meeting is a bit awkward but it'll escalate to a comfortable atmosphere that has aether feeling that's he's some kind of third wheel that's trespassing on a forbidden date that he shouldn't witness, but alas he won't agree to giving away his mom so easily even when he believes that ei will take good care of you.

with her growing fondness that she doesn't want to admit. ei eventually comes to a conclusion that you are always welcome to come visit her personally, maybe chat with her and discuss common interests and so she installs a function in the raiden shogun to spare you some time to bond unless you want to talk to ei which the shogun will gladly let you in.

aether is admittedly quite peeved that you always go on and visit her euthymia instead of informing him beforehand, though you are an adult capable taking care of yourself and you definitely don't need your son trying to stop you from a possible chance of happiness and it seems like he's vividly aware of that so he let's it go reluctantly.

paimon still isn't used to being transported to where ei is so the only thing you need to know that aether and paimon are in the euthymia are her little shrieks of suprise. it's a good thing she's so loud because you didn't know how to explain to aether that you uh.. pecked the electro archon on the lips. but it's not like he'll be able to do anything to stop you! you're still the mom that won't hesitate to scold his ass anyways.

the sight of you taking a leisure stroll with baal is surprisingly a very common occurrence amongst the streets of inazuma, onlookers still hadn't gotten used to the shogun looking like she's practically glowing when with you, scratch that both of you are literally glowing. from happiness? perhaps.

the twins and paimon now have two hot moms, and yes. even aether thinks so, and he knows lumine will be ecstatic knowing this too. this only urges him to get his journey over with faster so you can all finally reunite.

I just thought of a headcanon that mother reader (you) is the one that tends aether's braid and keeps it fluffy but convenient enough to fight in, so maybe what if you also styles ei's hair? its so long and well kept so who wouldn't want to drag their fingers around her gorgeous hair while she stays quiet, possibly quite flustered. definitely not you!

generally, this is a very innocent relationship. with ei willing enough to go out of her boundaries to please you but she's also curious to what lovers do exactly but she's too shy to ask of it. usually, she might gather the courage to ask you of your travels to which you happily oblige. it ends up with her head seated on your lap as she listens to you ramble in the realm that once suffocated her with overbearing loneliness.

ong, this is one cute duo alright.

I've never mentioned this, but for pure comedic purposes. mother reader likes to consume alcohol on a daily basis, but atleast once a week. it helps her forget about the stress about possibly spending months, or even years looking for her lost daughter even if it's temporary, it keeps her mind off it.

yes enough with that, once beidou and you are introduced it'll quickly turn for the worse or better aether can't tell because you're both now drinking buddies that are honestly kinda loud for their good but that applies to the captain more.

to be honest, you probably confused aether with kazuha when you were drunk and inazuman just stood there like:👤 as you hugged him warmly thinking it was aether. and your son was positively confused as to why you were embracing kazuha, low-key also jealous??

beidou once made a joke about kazuha being her son while you remarked with "omg it's like we're all big family you know?? we both have cute sons!" then both of you proceeded to laugh before teasing aether and kazuha who just wanted to leave out of embarrassment.

aether doesn't know whether to dislike beidou or not because she's obviously got something for you, he decides against it in the end because she really hasn't done anything wrong. plus, attraction is something one can't control so he can't really blame her.

in the rare nights where beidou is the one that steers the fleet, you always don't hesitate to join her for a night alone. the few numbers of the crew that were unfortunate enough to not sleep early has met their demise. however there are some times where both of you just settle down for a heart-felt talk, sparing those who were awake your mercy. 💪

when beidou feels as though you've been missing being back on foot, she doesn't hesitate to let the crew drop both of you off alone for maybe a little date, her treat! behind the scenes, beidou secretly convinced kazuha to distract that traveler and his small companion to which he agrees in the end since he can't really say no unless he wants to get thrown off the ship but he doubts that the captain is as cruel as that.

beidou's part was really short since I couldn't think of anything else and I have a stupid runny nose 🤬🤬 bye you didn't see me.

ah yes now that I finally posted what I wanted to after three days time to ramble on the latest archon quest (we will be reunited) 

also my mc is Lumine so when I talk, Aether will be the lost twin

spoilers under the cut!

First of all let’s talk about the things that are now officially confirmed: 

Dainsleif is from Kaenri’ah which was already speculated (the star eyes are a dead giveaway, sorry Dain...) 

The 500 year theory. 

I’m still not over it, it was insane. Mihoyo seriously fed us with this one, though I was expecting, hoping to see Kaeya at some point. I’m glad no one died so far, well if we don’t count the treasure hoarder. I wasn’t expecting it to take such a dark turn, like I already felt bad when beating up the hilichurls now I need to feel bad about Abyss mages too?? 

I feel like at the end we would try to break the curse that was put on the people and Dain. I think that’s what Aether is trying to do. Speaking of Aether, I do find it unfair that Dain is to be blamed for all of this when literally gods destroyed  Kaenri’ah, what was he supposed to do? He’s suffering as much buuut then again since Aether met Dain waaay before we did, I suspect Dain betrayed Aether. If that’s the case he’s probably going to betray us as well. 

There’s some serious time mambo jumbo shit is happening here. Basically my thought is Aether lived everything we are now playing as Lumine. At least that’s what I felt with his dialogue:

“I have already traveled this world once. Once you reach the end of your journey as I did, you will see for yourself the nature of this world.” 

Which at least to me means that Aether already live it all, he saved Dvalin, saved Liyue and looked for Lumine. In my mind this makes sense game wise too, we can pick both twins because they both are destined to live the same things when they awake in Mondstadt. Of course this is just speculation. My gut is also telling me they’re trap in some kind of time loop? Maybe? At the end of out journey, according to the trailer, the last place we go to is Kaenri’ah and their we’re going to see this unbelievable truth that makes us side with the abyss (rightfully so) my theory is at the end we actually witness the destruction that happened 500 years ago and maybe go back in time? or for those who watched Tenet, they somewhat relive the same thing over and over again as a loop. 

Of course this also raises questions about Kaeya. To those who unlocked all his storied we know he’s a spy but  Kaenri’ah was destroyed 500 years ago. Did Kaeya also just woke up then like the twins? ghh as paimon would say “Paimon’s head hurts!” 

Also was Zhongli there during the destruction? From what I read so far Venti probably wasn’t there? but I could be wrong. I can imagine Zhongli hiding a bunch of shit but Venti seems different but I might be biased  

I probably misinterpreted lot’s of stuff and forgot a bunch of lore feel free to correct me and talk about it because I love talking about the world of genshin impact <3
