Midnight ramblings: I’m wondering why I’m freezing and I see you’ve stolen the entire blanket. For Lyshtola.
-S
midnight rambling - some late night dialogue for your otp
I’m wondering why I’m freezing and I see you’ve stolen the entire blanket.
Y'shtola was used to the cold. Sharlayan had been cold, both the colony and the city proper, and at night, Limsa Lominsa often suffered a bitter chill.
So waking up feeling as though ice sprites had made a home within her chest was not a new feeling for Y'shtola. But it was always an unpleasant one.
Groggily, she lifted into a sitting position, blinking as she awkwardly tried to activate her aethersight while half asleep. A difficult task, that took her several attempts before she was able to identify Lyse lying beside her. Reaching out, her hands as gentle as she could make them in her sleeplessness, Y'shtola felt over her girlfriend to discover what she should have expected.
Huffing, her ears flicking for good measure, Y'shtola clambered from the bed. The chill only got worse as her bare feet met the cold stone floor and a shiver ran through her. Ignoring her bodies complaints, a skill she had long since preferred, Y'shtola crossed the room on memory to the cupboard she knew held spare blankets.
"Shtola?" Lyse's sleepy voice nearly caused Y'shtola to tumble as she lent up on tiptoe to try and rescue even a single blanket.
"Go back to sleep," Y'shtola said, huffing with exertion as she hugged her gained heat source to her chest, grateful that she'd not needed to scale furniture to collect it.
"Why're you awake?" Lyse asked, and Y'shtola considered lying to her. It was a small thing, after all. She wasn't even particularly frustrated with Lyse for the behaviour. If anything, she was annoyed with herself for not predicting it, given how Lyse had reacted whenever the temperature dipped even the slightest. But lying to Lyse wasn't something she was comfortable with.
"I’m wondering why I’m freezing and I see you’ve stolen the entire blanket." Y'shtola teased, settling back into the bed with her fresh blanket. She felt Lyse move closer, and turned into the oncoming hug without thinking about it.
"Sorry. Guess it's colder than I expected tonight," Y'shtola hummed, tilting her head back to kiss at the underside of Lyse's chin.
"Don't fret on it," she assured Lyse, "I have my own blanket now, so you can remain as tightly cocooned as you wish." Despite her instruction, Lyse still pulled Y'shtola closer, lifting the blanket she'd originally stolen to encase them both.
"You can keep me warm," Lyse said, and Y'shtola could feel her smiling against her forehead, "and kick me if I leave you out in the cold again."
"Or perhaps I will simply use your warmth to heat the ice blocks that were once my feet," Lyse laughed, and Y'shtola let her eyes drift closed again.
"Cruel, but fair."

@arinaxiv reminded me of this lil thing I wrote when I first got into Stormblood, so I hunted it down to post for y'all!
Content Warning for mention of child death.
"Come with me." Fruliyo said, grabbing Lyse's arm and dragging her through the camp. Lyse was quick to look for Zhana or Y'shtola, but both were looking away, almost deliberately so.
"Look," Lyse started, although she didn't dig her heels in, "I know you don't like lying and stuff, so I get that you're probably really angry, and there was that thing of flirting a while ago, and-"
"Lyse," Fru attempted to cut in.
"-I know that I probably should have just told you instead of rejecting you and all, but can you not shout at me? Because I-"
"Lyse!" Fru tried again.
"-didn't exactly set out to lie to _you_, you just happened to be there while I was lying, so really, please don't shout at me!"
"I'm not gonna fucking shout at you!" Fruliyo shouted. Lyse blinked, pulling her arm away now that they'd stopped moving.
"That was shouting." Lyse pointed out. Fru groaned, rolling her eyes.
"Sometimes you're really frustrating," Fru admitted, brushing the loc that hung in front of her face away from her eye, "but I'm not looking to shout at you. Although that was part of why I wanted to talk to you. You've been avoiding me,"
"I thought-"
"I know, you thought I was going to shout at you. But I'm not. So can you stop avoiding me, firstly? I thought we were, y'know... friends..." Fru shrugged, looking away from Lyse.
"Oh." At this moment, Lyse wished she was still wearing Yda's mask, because that would, at least, hide the way the bridge of her nose darkened a little. "Okay. Is that everything, or-?"
"Look," Fru still wasn't looking at Lyse. She couldn't look at her and say what needed to be said, so she didn't look. "The next few weeks are probably gonna suck for you. I don't mean because, y'know, rebellion and all, but you've probably not really gotten the chance to, y'know, grieve. So it's all gonna hit you like a runaway chocobo carriage."
"I dunno, I feel fine," Lyse shrugged.
"Lyse!" Fru groaned, "I'm trying to say that I know what's coming for you. And that, if you ever need to scream, or cry, or have a breakdown that you don't need the others seeing, I can be your punching bag. I know a thing or two about hidden grief."
"Fru, don't take this the wrong way but... you wear your every emotion on your sleeve... or you would if you ever really wore sleeves... anyway, I appreciate it but... you can't possibly know." Lyse shrugged, rubbing at her arm a little, expecting Fruliyo to shout at her again. Instead, Fru sighed, and reached into the little pouch bag that she carted around everywhere.
"It might shock you to learn that actually, I don't do that. Everyone thinks I do, and that's deliberate." Fru held up a Sharlayan necklace, letting it pool in her hand before opening the locket, showing Lyse a tiny wisp of silver hair, tied up with a small white ribbon. "Her name was Kawara. My Father didn't like traditional names which is why mine is the way it is, and Kawara's other mother agreed that it would be nice for her to match me... not that she ever really got that chance." Fru seemed lost for a moment, staring down at the locket in her hand. "She was five days old when I lost her and her mother both." Fru seemed to come back to the present, and quickly shut the locket, securing it away again.
"So I know, Lyse. I know what it feels like to carry someone around like you've been carrying your sister. And when you're ready to put her down again and it feels like you can't breathe without that weight... I don't mind helping you."
"Fruliyo-"
"Oh, and it goes without saying really, but don't tell anyone about... y'know? Only Y'shtola and Zhana know, and I don't need it getting spread to everyone."
"Yeah, of course." Lyse shifted, "I'm gonna hug you now, so don't hit me." she warned, before surging forward to hug Fru. Fru chuckled, hugging her back.
"We need to work on your image of me, Lyse."

Thinking about Soladiti.
They are of two worlds (literally), two gene pools, two cultures.
They're not Elezen enough to be human, and not draconic enough to be a Wyrm.
Until post EW, they denied the part of them that is Wyrm. The part that tells them they're still naught but a child, only just over 30. Barely old enough to be hunting alone. They denied it, and tried to force everyone to see them as Elezen. To see them as a true adult.
But they are neither full child nor full adult. They have lived 30+ years, travelled the star, beyond the star, to other shards, they have romantic partners and have experienced things in a way no child could comprehend. But that doesn't erase the way they long for their Dad (Vrtra) and try so hard to impress their Father (Hraesvelgr) and how their chest aches for the mother they'll never know (Shiva). It doesn't erase how small and young they often feel, even when comparing themself to Alisaie or Alphinaud, who are just over half their age.
After Endwalker, they start embracing themself in the whole.
They explain about the war within them between being an adult Elezen and a child Wyrm to Antonia, Y'shtola and Lyse. They embrace their love and need for their Dad and no longer deny that they enjoy him fussing over them. And in doing so, they find it far easier to also embrace the parts of human adulthood that they'd been struggling with.
They're no longer riddled with barely contained homesickness that makes them emotional and difficult to talk to. They no longer retreat to sulk when they can't explain their emotions.
They no longer bottle up the parts of them that are still a child, and as such, their adulthood becomes far more real.
I didn't realise, when I was first creating Sol, is that I was expressing parts of myself that I don't often talk about. I was attempting to give voice to the horrible feeling that I'm sure many ND adults can relate to, of feeling too much like a child for other adults and too much an adult for children. Of denying parts of who you are to make yourself palatable for the wider world that wants you to fit into a small box.
Allowing them that freedom after EW, ensuring that they are still loved by those important to them, romantically, platonically and familialy, it's healing parts of me I had no idea were still injured.
Anyway, Soladiti is very important to me is what I'm saying and I love them so much.

14. — bitter
M'naaria and M'kisivhe
One Word Writing Prompts
14. Bitter
If you'd have asked M'kisivhe when she was a child, who she'd grow up to hate the most, she'd probably have given some idealistic answer about hate not being something she did. That or the name of a Garlean, depending on the week.
She'd never have expected the answer to be her sister. She'd never have expected for it to be M'naaria.
But as M'kisivhe watched Lyse, someone she'd once trusted with her life, show love to M'naaria, she couldn't stop the nasty, twisting ball of emotions from digging into her stomach like it had claws.
Her arm twinged, the marble skin feeling like it was tightening around her bones. Vitriol rested on her tongue, ready to leap forth and stain the air with her bitterness.
"I know," it was Y'shtola that stopped her before she could spit the knives behind her teeth, "but not in public, Kii." M'kisivhe swallowed, and forced herself to remember how Y'shtola had been there for her, had cared for her. Despite the way Y'shtola loved M'naaria, she cared about M'kisivhe too. "I think you should go see Alisaie. She looked like she could do with a hug, last I saw her."
"I know what you're doing," M'kisivhe huffed, although she'd already turned to leave.
"Thank you, Shtola."

Ti'Clan 11. — heartbeat
One Word Writing Prompts
11. Heartbeat
Everything was slowing. Ti'xapfe thought of her family. She thought of her brothers, of Y'shtola, of the other Scions. She could hear Zenos talking, but she wasn't listening.
Her heartbeat thudded, languid and heavy, in her ears, and she thought about her twin. She wished she hadn't lost all of those years of music with him. She wished that had never been stolen from her and that she could lie here with endless memories of singing for Ti'xehn. Ti'xapfe hoped he'd keep dancing without her music. He was such a good dancer.
Thud.
Thud.
Thunk!
That noise was new, and even as her eyes felt like they were weighted, she forced them open to see the transporter she'd used to send her family away.
Thud.
Thud.
Thud.
Her hand shook as she extended it out, desperate to reach it.
Thud.
Thud.
Thu-

Can we get a fun fact about [spins wheel] Soladiti Hext? :D
Being half Wyrm comes with quite a few quirks, as I'm sure one can imagine.
But none are worse than flaming hiccups. They never used to happen! And then Sol learned to spit flames, just a little bit. And now whenever they get the hiccups, they end up puffing out little sparks and flames after each one. They're too small to cause problems (unless you put your hand over their mouth!) But it still makes their polycule laugh each time it happens (Sol going red helps with the laughter)

Suna's Relationship with the Scions as of 6.3
Alphinaud - They crossed the line into romance at the end of 6.0 and visiting him in 6.3 was wonderful for both of them. Suna loves him so much!
Alisaie - Suna is still wary of Alisaie, even after all this time. Alisaie's tendency towards emotional outbursts puts Suna on edge. But they're inching ever closer to friends every time they talk, with Suna starting to heal from her trauma, and Alisaie slowly adjusting some of her behaviour.
Y'shtola - Best friends. They've been that way since Heavensward. Y'shtola is currently the one helping Suna stay the hell away from Zero to avoid dangerous pattern repetition, and Suna knows she's always got a safe port in the storm as long as Y'shtola is around.
G'raha - Much like Alisaie, Suna finds Graha's tendency towards big emotions to be frightening. Unlike Alisaie, she's not yet ready to take steps towards friendship with him. They're work colleagues and that is good enough for Suna.
Thancred - Suna misses Thancred. He's been her biggest protector since the ARR patches, and being separated from him for so long has been difficult for her. She reaches out to him often, the two exchanging letters and the occasional hours long link pearl calls.
Urianger - Another person that Suna misses having around, although she does delight in seeing him with the Loporrits when he occasionally makes visits to Thavnair.
Krile - Suna has an odd, one sidedly strained relationship with Krile. She can't explain what the exact problem is, but something about Krile rubs her the wrong way. Mostly, Suna is polite but tries to keep their interactions purely work based.
Tataru - A good friend. Suna often takes the time to stop in and visit Tataru, bringing her Thavnairian treats or teas.
Estinien - Suna gets on well with Estinien. They often enjoy silences and food together. This is a newer friendship, but a strong one.
Bonus:
Varshahn - When he's in his smaller form, Suna is incredibly comfortable with Varshahn and loves to spend time with him. In his larger body, however, some of that comfort leaves and is replaced with anxiety. Logically she knows it's the same person but that does little to ease her. (However, she holds no such fear with his true dragon form and enjoys his company in that form as much as she does little Varshahn)
Zero - Suna is still very careful around Zero. Now she's aware of her own behaviour patterns, she can easily see that if she doesn't keep herself in check, she may fall into unhealthy behaviours with Zero. Zero hasn't noticed.

For the ship ask
Who is the more romantic one?
Antonia
Ask Game for Ships!
I actually think Lyse is the most romantic of them. She misses Toni, Sol and Y'shtola a lot, stuck as she is in Ala Mhigo, so when she gets the chance to see any of them and spend time with them, she goes all out!

Do they like pick up lines? for Fruliyo Ginoes, mostly because of the spin wheel but also because it's fuckin' funny to imagine
Ask Game for Ships!
Fru LOVES pick up lines. She uses them every chance she gets (they never work) and loves it when women use them on her! ESPECIALLY her wives.
Lyse is the one most likely to try a pickup line on Fru, especially knowing that it'll make her laugh and it will absolutely work.
Y'shtola, on the other hand, will bonk Fru with whatever book she has to hand when Fru pulls out the pickup line.
Zhana and Alisaie both alternate between it working (& going red and frustrated about it) and being so fucking done with Fru's antics (affectionate)

Soladiti
Ask Game for Ships!
Mealtimes.
When all 4 of them are together and eating. It's as calm as it ever gets and they all get at least a few minutes to just be themselves instead of needing to be their public personas.
Plus there's nearly always kisses shared along with bites of food!
