- its literally.. it feels like so long since i las t watched trek somehow idk how. i mean its been a while since i could watch it continuously and ive had a rlly long couipleof weeks tbh. but yah now i can probs finish ds9 at some poinnt this week if i rlly want to :3

- and also as like a fun little note. it took me SO SO long to get through tng didnt it christ? like its almost been a whole year since i first watched it, and i thought to myself "man idk if i should wait until my birthday again to do a st movie marathon" but i literally think it could so easily line up ... O_Owhich stupididk how its been tht long already my god.

- anyways i into the final stretch of s7

- and like okie dokie. worf. sigh. soft gentle sighs

- bc heres the thing its so weirddd bc i LOVE worf to the core but its SO funny bc like. i hated a lot of his tng eps- sorrryyy. though frankly thats not even ENTIRELT accurate, as usually not bc of him. i didnt hate worf eps, but a lot of the klingon eps bc the politics really did not do it for me at all.

- and more to the point. i DO feel like hes a little out of place, still, in ds9, even if he has offered some good stuff to the show

- but rn with ezri. sigh.

- bc frankly the thing is. whilst theres some moments that make me cringe and they're too stilted... i actually do like worf for his flaws sometimes. i dotn know. not as in im like ohh yeahh go mister sogynistic.... but in terms of a character i do find it. hm. refreshing is absolutely the wrong word, but i do feel there's more depth when you can allow characters to, like, actually be a little bit of a resistance at times. like genuine resistance

- and idk . but sighhhh sigh sigh. the thing with ezri is i like understand absolutely and i would ALSO feel that way with him not wanting to talk to her rn. like is it stupid ass the way he treated her? yah..... and not right BUT i'd be, like, "fine" with it in the sense of like. it would align with his character and i recognise his own shit is getting in the way and people dont handle/react to things perfectly and like- he did lose his wife, and stuff, and its not like... she owes him her time either like.

- bc like. if HE is not comfortable being friends with (or even talking to) his late wifes successor i dont think thats, like, a weird "hes runniong away; he isnt communicating" situation moment bc like. frankly its kind of obvious... why someone might not want to do that at all. its a unique situation. and GRANTED, yes they do have to work togetrher but like... i think its fiar if he just wants to keep it sort of civil and i dont know . sometimes you can just settle for things being awkward with each other, like? you cant make every situation perfect all of the time- and itsliterally fine, just grit ur teeth... granted i guess thats a very Me way of thinking abt it but like- but-

- BUT GOD SOMETIMES . theres some shit hes doing NOW in particular tht is making me claw my hair out just bc it seems.... AGAIN i want him to react badly if it fits him, but nonetheless ahrgh. WHY DID HE FUCK EZRI. SORRY I

- also the thing with ezri is im sobbing bc ezri soooo could easily be my most favourite of teh entire show but im just so sad she was brought in so fuckn late!!!!! like, im not actually wholly against introducing maincast so far along in THIS circumstance. like after 6 seasons? im ok with that. on the contrary i like it here, even if i dont usually like that kind of thing, bc it makes sense tht they have to change things to keep the show flowing (as u kno how s7 of trek can get a little... burnt out.. at least i felt that way with tng too). so im cool with her being new but its moreso bc we only have one season left.... and thts not enough time. does that make sense.

- bc like maybe if she was brought into s6, and then there were 8 seasons of ds9 i feel like tht could work? but only ONE season for development, esp so late when things are coming to a head...

- rn i feel like they have to rush a lot of her, and focus on her a bit too much and its not as organic as it could be which is such a shame bc its GENUINELY A REALLY INTERESTING FACET of trill culture, and i do find her compelling as hell but YEAH. i think them having to, like, so quickly demonstrate her as a person makes a lot of the execution... lose subtley? which is just like. gentle sigh. its not godawful but its, like, very.... season 1 and 2.

on xmas eve i was alone and one point it just hit me and made me VERY SAD so i spent like probably an hour and a half dancing around my living room with a bottle of pink wine to this song until i felt happy again. simple creatures is SO FUN. also fun fact: i spent like a month when this was released also obsessed with it and then just? forgot about it? guess my subconscious wanted to save more of them and atl for 2020 lol

okie dokie. grace has gathered her thoughts regarding ~recent events~ into what could appear to be an unoriginal take. but we’re going to share anyways. 

Drag Race cast a group of people for season 12 that had the greatest potential in a while. I mean a top 8 where you could see almost anyone in the top 4 is a pretty good gig. unfortunately, the producers have fucked over these gals so severely [in addition to other unfortunate events]. 

So #1. I don’t think they needed to cast SP in this season. should they have vetted better? yes [go to Sibling Rivalry for more] But seeing her essentially cut out, they still have enough to do. Also if she wasn’t there, the judges would not be sleeping on EVERYONE besides gigi.

So next. The ball challenge should have had aiden and brita lip sync. maybe Rock would have gone home in the next ep, who knows. but the producers saw a storyline there, and considering there was basically no drama anywhere else they decided to keep going and ensure that brita and aiden faced off later on. Now what has this led to? just far too much hate. and yes you can blame the fans, but production has to know that they play a part in this too. 

Next up of course is miss Jan Sport. now, she is everything i have ever wanted. Try-hard, super fan, musical theatre, Backpacks, etc. all of the above. checking those boxes. 

but the producers didn’t like her. [can i make it anymore obvious? no.] I think because she doesn’t check a box really besides ingenue, and that she was nice and didn’t start drama, that she would be easy to cut?? idk. 

It’s interesting. based on her promo look, I didn’t think much of her. It’s also interesting that she paints really young and gigi paints older. 

So the producers couldn’t find a good storyline from their past portfolios, and she was doing well in the challenges [say what you want, I think the only time she really deserved safe [as opposed to high or win] was snatch game] that the only way to get a story out of her was to break her. 

And so we arrive at season 12 episode 7. face crack heard round the world. She should have won the challenge. and the thing is, from all the commentary i’ve seen. everyone agrees that jan ought to have won the challenge. but it’s more than just taking it away from jan, it’s forcing gigi down our throats- and gig is likable. with such a talented cast, you don’t need to load 2 girls up with all the wins. You don’t need to force drama. You can just let it play out. see how the best of the best fare in the challenges. 

So entering episode 8, it’s all very very. no one’s going to be outright mad at gigi for winning the challenge because she wasn’t bad and production’s decisions are not her fault. 

jan pushing the brita storyline is great though. and I “believe” it but it’s still funny. 

So you now have jan in a position that is like the judges refuse to acknowledge anything you do as good enough. so being who she is, she puts it all on the floor in the commercial. And quite frankly, I didn’t think it was that bad. It kept me entertained the whole time [also bc im a fan] and it was very on brand- which is the whole point of the challenge. 

and herein lies production AGAIN. this is where you could have done a double save. Don’t put jan up for elimination. tbh Widow could have sent SP home. and then wouldn’t that be nice. however. gigi could have gone against widow and i wouldn’t be surprised if they used a double save there. or, as bob suggested, gigi v SP. but production had gotten the “sob stories” out of widow, and she had been safe, and they got the face crack from jan, who had also been safe. so they figured we milked them for what it’s worth, let’s just do this and we won’t have to make any hard decisions because we don’t like jan anyways. 

Now for the lip sync. I don’t disagree with the decision that was made. but. people saying jan was doing too much- that it didn’t fit the song? sure. but what would you expect her to do? 

idk if you’ve gone down the youtube rabbit hole, but I have! and you know how in season 10 monet was all very “I wear a bodysuit and bus driver wig bc I’m from NY” yeah. It checks out. and jan dances. Her all is pulling out all the stunts. and not being able to do that would suck for her. so the reveal totally checks. get into something comfortable to do everything that she can do. 

I will say [aside from the fact that trolls spoiled this for me] I knew in the first 3 seconds of the song that widow would win. It’s very hard to pull off a costume change in a lip sync for your life that takes more than a second and still win. On top of the whole “we’re not gonna send widow home in front of her idol” storyline, she did an excellent job. 

I saw a take on the internet that if it were ariana or gaga or robyn, jan would have turned it out and I think that’s true. 

It is interesting to note that there is this interesting trend in the dusted or busted scoring system that generally leaves one person 9-7th place with a good record- like usually 4th and 5th place has a worse record than one person 9-7.  

I don’t think the producers anticipated the fact that Jan is so likable [quite frankly most of them are]. or maybe they did. Or the fact that positively rn is just so severely lacking that having someone with jan’s personality on the show would be great. 

because it is interesting that they have not really had jan’s character on before. You have the violet/aquaria/gigi type who is the skinny white fashion queen that can turn out other things. you have the small town scrappy queen who is very charismatic. you have the “clown” You have the strictly fashion queens. You have the know it all. You have the villain edit. But the concept of someone who is [relatively] new to drag [Jan started in like ~ mid 2016 and the show was shot in 2019] who is very very good [i think it was in a live or something but someone was basically like Jan blew up very quickly in new york]. So it’s just fascinating. Yes, there were theatre queens in the past but Jan’s personality is “theatre kid” which i love.

And then you have copyright law working against her. Jansport the backpack vs Jan Sport the drag queen. it’s tricky. But there were so many missed opportunities because of the pesky copyright. For instance the ball ball. and just all the backpack jokes. 

Jan is set up very nicely for All Stars 6, and I for one can’t wait. 

It will be interesting to see how the rest of the season shakes out. I just think it would have been more interesting if producers weren’t pushing a predetermined ending. 

She told us from the beginning- there’s no choice but to stan. Who am I to do otherwise?

Dae Woong the Man-Child

@rocknghorss: Daewoong is such a frustrating man-child!!! I get that Miho is.. screwing up his game with noona but why can't he treat her more nicely?

@dramajib: I think he's being plenty nice as it is actually. Like he could just ditch her entirely, but he's put up with her (until now anyway). Mostly out of fear, but still. It's not just noona she's screwing up for him, basically since he met her he's got no money, can't go home for (misguided) fear of her eating his family, he's discovered that most of his friends were fake friends..

rocknghorss: I know :( I'm just biased...

dramajib: Ahahahaha aren't we all. 

That whole ship thing at the end of episode 3 took me by surprise though, I was like... Dae Woong is a selfish manchild, sure, but he hasn't been MEAN up to this point. And that was really mean

rocknghorss: it was! He'd had a pretty disappointing day, but still, that was downright mean.  I guess from his point of view, everything was Miho's fault. So why not? Especially since as far as he knows, the water can't actually hurt her.

dramajib: It's awful. I hope he gets very contrite and fixes it somehow. Preferably NOT by diving in the water and swimming after the boat and getting pneumonia

dramajib: In the previous episode, when she runs away cos she thinks his daughter is his gf, he sees her standing in front of the mannequin at the men's underwear section of the department store, and when the sales woman asks her if she's buying undies for her husband she says yes, cos embarrassed

rocknghorss: Oh. I'm glad you remembered, b/c I was completely lost.  That said, I was quite amused just how EXTRA they both are. The soft lit sunset behind elevator man as he was (I guess) wallowing in despair was ridiculous and I loved it.

dramajib: I was SO PISSED with noona's dress scheme in episode 3, hence my indignation. Like, fine, I was all on her side at first because it IS ridiculous the way Dae Woong is behaving out of the blue and not giving legit reasons. I did love how she drove away.

But when she pulled the dress thing, when she KNEW she wasn't wearing that dress, and she let him lose his chance at auditioning, she lost me as a fan cos that's just cruel. You know this is the big break he's been working towards, and if you really cared about him you wouldn't sabotage that just to throw shade on your competition

rocknghorss: I both hated and enjoyed her pettiness.  Just like Kristin said, I kinda liked that unlike many “villainous” second female leads, she was unrepentantly nasty to her “competition” and wasn’t shy about it. I hated it of course, because it was just gross and had the consequence of more meanness thrown Miho’s way

dramajib: Okay I just finished episode 4, and I'm wavering again about Noona. Like, everything she says to Dae Woong about wanting him to be clear about his feelings is totally valid and fair. But the way she behaves about getting this lead role in the film is horrendous - and I don't quite understand why she calls him when she finds out that Mi Ho is the girl elevator guy had his eyes on

Hip Hop Guy, Guest Starring Ma Wang

dramajib: I am epicly confused by incongruent hip hop ost second male lead's deal. Is he just trying to restore balance? Kill Mi Ho? Steal her bead? Is he falling in love with her? Like what is going on there

rocknghorss: I’m watching 4 now. When you guys watched it did it seem like the monk knew that hip-hop guy was some sort of Demon Hunter/supernatural being?

dramajib: I love her interaction with the neighbourhood mean girl ahjumma. And the whole hunting down coupons thing

rocknghorss: Yes! Mean girl ahjumma was hilarious.  Her voice was perfect lol

dramajib: Did finishing episode 4 give you any further insight into hip-hop guy?

rocknghorss: Ehhh. Hip hop guy is pitiful. I’d like to understand why his role appears to be “monster hunter” because that was still not cleared up unless I missed something.  But I can definitely see why he’s billed as the second male lead. He’s got it bad for her, in his own way

dramajib: I assume we get more of his back story? Because as it stands, it seems like the way he's hunting her down is probably the big plot point, and I don't really get it yet either

rocknghorss: I think we do? I can’t really remember.  He seems to lack a lot of urgency in getting her back to the temple tho.  Like if it was that big of a deal why is he slowing around and letting her decide on her to go back?

dramajib: At first it seemed like he'd been waiting to catch her forever. Then it seemed like he was guarding society and making sure she's safely locked up. Now it's like he's hunting her for his own pleasure. So confused

rocknghorss: That’s exactly why I said hip hop Guy was pitiful btw. I think he likes her or is confusing her with her previous incarnation(??) and is struggling not to confuse his feelings for the other girl with Miho. So he’s got this artificial choice of duty or love, but he doesn’t even know Miho really.

triangularlily: Yeah he also has been by himself for so long. Like the whole can’t make human connection thing

rocknghorss: Yeah!

dramajib: The connection thing - was living with humans his choice, or forced on him? And if it was his choice, he's also chosen to live isolated, soooo… Not that I don't feel bad for him, I'm just being contrary for the sake of it

dramajib: That whole scene where he's sitting with her in his house and telling her what her options are was sad. But I also don't trust him so I'm like... Are you just telling her things so that she'll choose to do what you want her to?

rocknghorss: Yupo.  He’s just super enamored that someone was able to make his grandson grow up.  Grandpa doesn’t want much lol Also! I like that he doesn’t rib Aunt too much about her crush. Even though she’s wayyy too into it (again apparently lol)

dramajib: Lol aunt and elevator guy are great though. I can't wait for his daughter to find out that Dae Woong is going to be her cousin

- What…? I mean, not like that! No no, he just did what I aksed and did correctly, that’s it… my my… - says Julia; being blushed while trying to play it cool – You were good, Charlie; not bad, not bad… but… it could have been better, ya know…

- Are you ‘angwy’ at me…? ‘Sowy’… - asks Charlie.

- No, I’m not; I just think you could do better; that’s it.

- But I’m ‘sowy’ for ‘kissin’… ‘sowy’…

- Relax, man, I was the one who asked for you to do it, you just did what I asked, and… you sur-prised me soooo much… I MEAN, you… - the girl tries to mask her love; making an adorable angry face – You should just be better next time, that’s it; don’t annoy me!

     She crosses her arms, turns her face around and makes a cute pouty face while “saying”:

- Hmpf!

     All of our gang look at each other while Charlie doesn’t understand a thing…

     The bell then rings…

- L-let’s go back to class, guys; Lacinho, please go inside my bag – says Julia, opening the bag for the doll to enter.

- Uhh… okie dokie – Lacinho enters the bag.

- ‘You guys angry’…? – Charlie asks to everybody; clearly still being worried; not understanding if he actually did something wrong…

- It’s alright, dude… you don’t need to also be this modest, you know… - says Rodrigo, trying to not look like he was envious.

- She was the one who asked for it, and you just did what she asked… - says Sayuri, while packing the bag – I don’t see any problems…

- … - Charlie still felt a little guilty, deciding to ask to his best friend – Julia…?

- It’s ok, Chacha; I’m not angry; you did well, and just did what I asked… - says Julia, then finishing – Th-thank you, Chacha… thank you…

     He was still feeling a little guilty.

- Let’s go, man – says Rodrigo.

     Charlie, a little confused and not knowing what to think, follow his friends to class… he felt like he did something terrible; but couldn’t understand where his mistake was, or what he did wrong or why…

      In classroom, it was just normal class; but the “challenge” has gone back, and the foolish show-off didn’t even notice that Julia was a little different, but still challenged her at the lunch break; stating that supposedly everybody knew about the challenge…

     Charlie just felt even more bad with Clarissa saying these things… Julia didn’t even care; almost pretending to care…

     In class; before the lunch break, Julia did not knew if she was feeling nervous or anxious… did not knew what to feel; but was thinking if she could surprise Charlie…

     Her friends and her doll already knew that if necessary, she would do it again… and from the constant looks of Clarissa, almost demanding for it to happen… much likely it would happen again…

      The lunch break starts; Clarissa tries to call for everyone’s attention to try and humiliate Julia; but nobody from the school gave a damn, not even Julia, and for Big Leandro, this was so bizarre that didn’t even knew if it was true or if it was some kind of joke.

     Julia and Charlie were close to each other while their friends watched by distance and discreetly.

- Go ahead, you dummy, you talk so much; but now I want to see – says Clarissa, trying to mock the best friend of the boy who could give life… she who didn’t care at all anymore – Ha! I doubt it soooo much, heh.

     Charlie had his cute angry face with the foolish show-off girl, but also noticed that his best friend looked at him… differently…

     Julia hold his hands, for his surprise, and, with a smile, says to him:

- Now it’s my turn, Chacha, I’m sorry for that.

     For the surprise of Clarissa, Julia kisses Charlie in the mouth, while the boyfriend of the foolish show-off girl looked at the kiss… it wasn’t the same thing with his girlfriend… Julia seemed to have love, and the little guy, although slightly confused, seemed to feel good…

- Unbelievable, she did it again… - everyone from our gang thinks the same thing, being a little embarrassed by looking at them; including the girl made out of cloth.

     Clarissa’s boyfriend was feeling like a fool for confessing to Clarissa… a fool who was only being used…

- Ha! T-this is nothing; there isn’t love at all, you paid him, I’m sure! – says Clarissa, surprised and still not believing what was seen, saying then to her boyfriend – Common, you chump, don’t embarrass me now! Show me the best that you can do!

- Do you even know what’s the best that I can do…? – he asks, while our two protagonists from our gang finished the kiss.

- What does it matter? Surprise me already! Common! – says the foolish girl, demanding it from the boy who she claims was her loved one.

- Not gonna do that, Clarissa… - says Alex, her boyfriend.

- What did you just said? What do you mean you’re not gonna do that?! Are you crazy?! Do you love me or not?!

- Not anymore…

     Clarissa gets surprised by the answer; almost in shock. She asks:

- W-what do you mean…? What d… what do you mean… by that…?

- I’m sorry, Clarissa… you have no love… and I lost mine… - says her ex boyfriend, turning his back to her, and finishing while his ex girlfriend did not knew how to react; clearly not expecting that from him – I can’t do this anymore… we’re done… I’m breaking up with you… goodbye…

- You can’t… do that…! I’m your… I…   …YOU KNOW WHAT?! I DON’T EVEN CARE, YOU CHUMP! – Clarissa was weepy, but trying to look and sound angry and still trying to count advantage – I DON’T EVEN CARE! I DON’T NEED YOU!!

     She runs away, while crying.

     Charlie and Julia, right now, after that, they were being taken to the principal’s office by Big Leandro…

      In the way to the principal’s office, Julia had a smile; Charlie felt something he never felt before in his heart… something he couldn’t understand… he looks at Julia, being blushed… Julia, in response, closes her eyes and shows an even bigger smile…
