NEON NATURE TOUR: FASHION CREDITS
Step into the neon-lit enchantment of Marina's "Neon Nature" Tour, which debuted on October 12, 2015, in Houston. Celebrating her third studio album, "Froot," Marina graced the cyber garden-inspired stage in collaboration with stylist Soki Mak and a handful emerging designers. Join us on a brief, yet dazzling, exploration of the tour's wardrobe—a kaleidoscope of avant-garde fashion and futuristic flair that left audiences spellbound.
Tumblr media
The first set of looks were designed by Paula Knorr, who created two of Marina’s fuchsia, lavender & red lamé looks which were inspired by body movement and the interaction between the material and the female shape.
Tumblr media
The Piers Atkinson reign just won't let up! M debuted several custom-made headpieces on stage, including a purple version of his Mega Diamond Ears headband.
Tumblr media
With the first look, Marina wore the Emmanuelle wine-red leather pointed-toe pumps with eye-catching pink mink tail from Malone Souliers’ Fall/Winter 2015 collection.
Tumblr media
The second look naturally met a more bolder choice. These stunners are Kat Maconie's Paulina metallic red leather platform pumps.
Tumblr media
Another designer that hopped on is LA-based Michael Costello, who appeared on the eighth season of Project Runway and the first season of Project Runway All Stars!
"Designing for Marina and the Neon Nature Tour was a great experience. My team met with Marina for an initial fitting and we discussed sketches and fabric options. We wanted something colourful and full of sequins so it could shine on stage. We knew we wanted a cape to go along with the jumpsuit to give Marina that extra flair that she is known for when she performs." Michael said.
Tumblr media
Of course, Piers Atkinson also created a custom blue sparkly version of his Hyper Cherries headpiece for the tour.
Tumblr media
Bristol-based fashion label Burnt Soul custom-made around 7 different catsuits for our girl to wear!
Designer Robyn Lythe said: "To start with, we put the Froot album to catch the right feel for the designs. We wanted to incorporate the expression of her lyrics with the glitzy electro pop side of Froot. One of Marina‘s fashion icons is Elizabeth Taylor and so we used her as inspiration to create figure flattering hour glass shapes in our cut. More than anything we wanted to capture Marina‘s personality. We added floating georgette fabric sleeves and glittering neon colourful bodies to give her the comic book sass and electric look she‘s famous for. The most "Marina" part of our designs were probably the sleeves. We never work with anything but lycra but we wanted to add something a little softer that would add movement on stage. Marina is so feminine with so much strength and attitude and we thought the combination of the two fabrics were perfectly her."
Tumblr media
These looks were crowned with the custom Piers Atkinson “Froot” laser-cut plexi headband (similar design pictured above).
Tumblr media
For her Lollapalooza performance in Chile, she combined her pink catsuit with these Delalle Demilune oversized studded round cat-eye sunglasses!
Tumblr media
A pair of BEBO chunky silver glittery platform sandals completed the look.
Tumblr media
Costume designer Austin Louis Perry was in charge for the "Electra Heart" act costumes!
"Working with Marina and her team was such an excleine experience. To start off with I met with Soki Mak to brainstorm the key features of the show. As a fan of Marina’s music I immediately wanted to design for the "Electra Heart" section of the show. Soki and Marina gave me 5 words as a brief; „Sassy, 70’s, pink glitter rock star“. I then used key reference points trom pop acts like Cher, ABBA and Boney M. The next stage involved meeting Marina and presenting my ideas (which she was so excited about) and from there on we discussed colour options and fabric choices. Seeing how excited Marina was when trying on my designs at the first fitting was just incredible. She loved the capes and the fabrics looked amazing together. Personalty my favorite outfit was the pink glitter catsuit with the heart cut-outs. Seeing fans reactions to the Neon Nature wardrobe on social media and the personal comments and E-mails I‘ve received have been overwhelming. It has been such an incredible journey."
Tumblr media
The final two custom looks come from Greek couture house Celia Kritharioti! First one is a gold sequined co-ord set featuring plunging V-neck with nude mesh overlay, while the second set comprises a lavender sequin bustier and matching flared trousers.
Tumblr media
And for the final ending of this post, here's the deets to the eyelashes our girl's been wearing throughout the show! Make up artist Colby Smith used the Love Addict mink lashes by Artémes!
He also used products by Make Up For Ever, M·A·C Cosmetics, Armani Beauty, Charlotte Tilbury, Madina Milano and Anastasia Beverly Hills.

32 episode in out of a 64 episode run and the closest we've gotten to Super Saiyan 4 is butt-pliers.
I'm just... trying to fathom this. Wasn't Super Saiyan 4 one of the few things Toriyama actually gave the crew that made GT? Why did they take forever getting there and waste all that time on completely asinine shit? They literally turned Goku's (at the time) strongest transformation into an asspull when they had plenty of time to devote to Giru saying his own name and Tuffle smirking.
I can't wrap my head around the fact that some people say this show was better than Super. Super had some low, low lows, but I genuinely think I'd rather watch any episode of that than GT. I knew it was created largely to keep the DB content machine churning out a new episode in that prime time slot, but I hadn't expected it to be so... obvious about it. Like it's not actually trying to be anything more or less than 20ish minutes of television. Say what you will about the Star Wars Prequels, George clearly didn't make them because he wanted more money. The story was poorly executed and had some major flaws, but it was a genuine story with a beginning, middle and end and all the other stuff a story needs. Your section on great "ideas", poorly executed only further cements the fact that GT has no ideas, and on the rare occasion they do it's utterly squandered in favor of Morishita's episodic structure. GT feels like they started working on each episode the day after the previous one aired, and frankly I wouldn't be shocked if that was the case.
Sorry for the rambling ask, but it's really incredible that halfway through this show they still can't do better than the Roaming Lake. Because as bland as it was, it was at least a story.
I need to clear up a misconception here. Akira Toriyama did not design Super Saiyan 4. It was, in fact, designed by Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, who was one of the main character designers for the Dragon Ball anime franchise.
Tumblr media
Later on, Akira Toriyama did a drawing of Nakatsuru's design, and this is probably what led people to assume that it originated with Toriyama.
In fact, the drawing was included in the GT DVD box set, along with a message from Toriyama about the show, where he praises Nakatsuru's uncanny ability to imitate his own style, to the point where even he, Toriyama, had trouble remembering which designs were Nakatsuru's and which were his own.
What Toriyama did contribute to GT was mostly used at the very beginning: The logo for the show, the new looks for the main characters, designs for some of the machinery (most notably Giru and the GT Ship), and he drew some images of Goku, Trunks and Pan on some alien worlds, which probably helped inspire a few of the early episodes.
And Toei didn't waste any time using that stuff, because they knew which way their bread was buttered. I'm certain they would have loved to have even more input from Toriyama than what they got, because they knew he was the driving force behind the franchise's success. But he was finished with the manga, so his limited contributions to GT were all they were going to get.
The thing you have to understand about Super Saiyan 4 is that it was part of Plan B. Plan A was the Grand Tour, with Goku, Trunks and Pan roaming the universe hunting the Dragon Balls. But according to Kozo Morishita, that plan fell through when they decided the scripts just weren't working. So they changed the focus to a battle-oriented plot, and that's how we got into the Baby Saga. And of course, it wouldn't do for Goku to get a new transformation right away, so it took a while for him to get there.
Afterward, SSJ4 kind of became the symbol for the GT brand. They put it on the cover of the DVD set I bought. SSJ4 Goku was on Volume 1, even though he doesn't appear in that form until the very last episode on the set. Then they put SSJ4 Gogeta on the cover of Volume 2, even though he only shows up for half an episode near the end. But come on, what else were they gonna put on those covers? Giru? Rage Shenron? That pervy space deer? People love SSJ4, and GT's the only anime where you can get it.
If they had it to do over again, maybe SSJ4 would have been given the focus from the very start, kind of like how Dragon Ball Super remained squarely focused on the different "godly" Super Saiyan forms. But GT never had a focus beyond "more Dragon Ball cartoons in the golden timeslot". They kept changing the plans until they ran out of show. So even when they managed to do something right, it usually wound up being too little, too late.
This is why the "good ideas, bad execution" defense never made sense to me. I literally saw someone on Twitter use that very line today. I think they said "concepts" instead of "ideas", but same thing. I mean, if you like Super Saiyan 4, fine, but it doesn't make sense to praise the show and then say the execution was bad. The execution is the thing you're watching. That's like eating a really lousy cake and saying it was still okay because the cook had some good ideas about baking. No, that's not how this works.
A lot of GT's success seems to stem from the willingness of fans to overlook its flaws. At the end of the day, it still features a ton of popular characters, and it resembles DBZ closely enough that it can be a serviceable continuation of the property. I have to assume the "asspull" scene just doesn't bother some fans the way it bugs you or me. I'm not sure anyone finds it hilarious or anything, but they don't find it insulting, and that might be enough to earn GT a free pass in the hearts of a lot of the fandom.
And that may have been the guiding principle for making the series as well: Just get it done, because it's better for everyone to have some Dragon Ball on TV than none at all.

(In response to your OC ask) Since you've been away with The Bird, have you created/published any new OCs tumblr hasn't had the privilege of seeing yet? Can you tell us a little about them and what they're like?
Ahahahaha, absolutely. Many, in fact. A friend of mine and I started an RP in a 90s Japan band setting and over the last 1.5 years we've gone ham. Gone ham to the point I'd like to work on reformatting and developing the story for an eventual webcomic (famous last words). Jin even gets a new AU in it, one where he gets to be an asshole w/o quite so much suffering, lol.
While there are a good number of characters for it, and I'm only responsible for half of them, I guess I'll introduce my main two at least?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shuuhei 'Shuu' Tagawa
Gruff asshole on the outside, recovering from trauma dead on the inside. Where the story starts, his biggest hardships are behind him and it more or less follows him struggling to heal & to reconcile his past (often with help of his bf, who is one of my friend's characters).
I can't draw him right for shit. The first image is probably more ~1994 body type (toned but more slender). Second image is more ~1997 (beef).
His initial design was inspired by Penicillin's Hakuei.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shouta 'Show-Ya' Maeda
My sweet, sweet crossdressing baby boy who eventually turned into a petty bitch. First image is of him in ~1989 in the story, second is ~1994 (where the story begins). He comes off as haughty and egotistical, but deep down he's hurt and doesn't know how to deal with it in a healthy way. The story kinda goes both backwards and forwards, explaining how he went from sweet darling to petty bitch, then forward. One of my friend's characters is extremely integral to him & his development/progression.
He was originally supposed to be a sort of cartoon villain antagonist to Shuu, but holy shit development went off the rails with him and now he's more or less my main character now (sorry Jin). I love him dearly and may have shed a real tear or two writing certain parts of his story <_<;
His initial design (second picture) was inspired by early Lareine era Kamijo.
If I ever did make a webcomic, it more or less would follow one tour of two bands and the relationships, past and present, between the characters.
IDK man, I could ramble about these two for a very long time. If anyone has any specific questions, feel free to send an ask.

Extreme wealth, more often skewered than celebrated, dominates the chatter about television these days, from masters of the hedge-fund universe sparring with federal prosecutors on Billions to the familial power plays on Succession to the vacation foibles of the merely rich on The White Lotus. And the popularity of these shows—a subgenre that we’ve termed Helipad Drama—among the demographic they feature is linked directly to how well the art imitates life.
[…]
With these shows’ binge-ability and viral moments, each visual choice is under a microscope, scrutinized online in single-frame screengrabs, from running tallies of every Aston Martin, Bentley and Ferrari driven by Damian Lewis’s Bobby Axelrod on Billions to the many watches worn—and occasionally discarded—on Succession.
The bling is a bit more overt on Billions, to convey just how far Axelrod has come from his humble working-class roots. “It was really about trying to sell the amount of privilege people with extreme wealth have and the access and power that comes with that,” says Michael Shaw, production designer on the show’s first two seasons. “A lot of rich people can buy really nice wine, but not everybody can buy a football team.” Which explains why Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks, makes a cameo in the second season as Axelrod considers buying his own pro franchise.
[…]
Fanny Pereire, who worked on the pilots for Billions and Succession, has a full-time job securing art for TV and film. Her process starts with a wish list of original works. She then secures single-use permission to feature each piece from the copyright holders, generally by paying out fees to artists or estates. The works shown on-screen are mostly very good official copies of sometimes priceless originals, laser-printed on canvas and touched up by the show’s art department to add brushstroke texture. After shooting wraps, Pereire usually films herself slashing the approved fakes—she’s contractually obligated to destroy or return the works—and sometimes sends them back to the artist in pieces, as proof of destruction.
Those works, often lurking in the background, subtly move the story forward, adding insight into a particular character or scene, whether it’s the Basquiat hanging ostentatiously outside Axelrod’s office or the giant photo of a melting glacier by Frank Thiel in the boardroom at the Roy family’s corporate headquarters.
“We’re telling a story, and hopefully if we do our job right, just as the production design or the costumes will tell you something about the character, the art will, too, without being part of the dialogue,” says Pereire.
[…]
Blue-chip art has been integral to setting the right tone for Billions from the beginning. Before designing the set for Axe Capital, Axelrod’s hedge-fund office in Connecticut, Shaw toured some investment firms for inspiration. “It seemed like everybody we would visit would have certain key artworks,” he says. “It was almost de rigueur that certain artists were represented—Koons, Basquiat, Warhol—because they conveyed status.”
[…]
Tumblr media
Driven individual: Not every rich guy has a chauffeur. On Billions, Bobby Axelrod frequently steers his own Range Rover Sport.
The interiors devised by the production-design teams on Succession and Billions often have an intentionally sterile, impersonal quality. “Early on, I wanted things to feel kind of staged,” Carter says. “You want to feel these aren’t people who have the time or inclination to spend the time actually decorating their own places. They have a team of people who are paid to do it, and they’re probably a little scared for their jobs, so they make choices straight out of the magazines everybody’s been looking at.”
[…]
Tumblr media
Billions’ power players always sit at the best table, as when Axe closes a deal at the Lobster Club in NYC.
[…]
The right food and drink add yet another layer. Both Axelrod and his nemesis, US Attorney Chuck Rhoades (Paul Giamatti), love to dine out in New York, visiting the city’s buzziest restaurants (some now shuttered), from Sushi Nakazawa and Momofuku Ko to Del Posto and Daniel. “In the first season, it was really hard to get in anywhere,” says Shaw. “After the show came out, the second season everybody wanted us in.”
Tumblr media
Art helps paint the picture. On Billions, David Lynch’s Broken Heart hangs in Mike Price’s office.
[…]
When you’re in the business of re-creating worlds with rigor and authenticity, there’s perhaps no greater achievement than dreaming up a simulacrum that outstrips reality. Like students surpassing their teacher, the Billions team created such a compelling backdrop when they built the offices of Axe Capital—shot on location in Rockland County, N.Y.—that an investment firm later hired Shaw to consult on its real offices, in Manhattan’s shiny Hudson Yards.
“The owners of the company wanted the interior to feel like the Billions world,” says Shaw. “That was life really imitating art.”

round up // MARCH 24
Tumblr media
This March Round Up is one of the most media-diverse I’ve ever published. Two books! Two miniseries! One museum! One telecast! And somehow, most of them eventually come back to the same topic: movies.
Now that the Oscars have named their 2023 victors (“My eyes see Oppenheimer!!!”), it feels like the 2024 movie year has finally started, and one major Awards Season contender is already out. (Keep reading to see if it is Kong x Godzilla!) Three of my top 10 picks this month are new films, but this brief pause between Awards Season and summer blockbusters means I have time for indulgent activities like reading books and playing Turner Classic Movies roulette on the DVR. May lulls like these between your busy seasons be just as enjoyable with these pop culture faves…
March Crowd-Pleasers
Tumblr media
1. The Fury by Alex Michaelides (2024?)
You know it’s a good book when it’s already past your bedtime, you see that you have 100 pages left, and still say, “Yeah, there’s no way I’m not finishing this tonight.” I made this my January Book of the Month because it sounded like Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (my favorite movie of 2022), but this doesn’t center on a Benoit Blanc-style detective. At the center is a charming, unreliable narrator (one I kept picturing as John Mulaney) recounting the murder of a starlet (whom I kept picturing as Carole Lombard) while on vacation with her friends and family. I read 75% of this murder mystery set on a private Greek in one sitting because I couldn’t put it down!
Tumblr media
2. Road House (2024)
Thank goodness Jake Gyllenhaal seems to be losing interest in prestige projects because he’s best when he’s a lil’ crazy. That’s just one reason this Road House is even more fun than the original. Read my full review for ZekeFilm. Crowd: 10/10 // Critic: 7/10
Tumblr media
3. Barbie: The World Tour by Margot Robbie and Andrew Mukamal (2024)
I have referenced Barbie in almost every Round Up since it came out, and I'm not slowing down now. This new book from Margot Robbie and her stylist Andrew Mukamal catalogs each of her Barbie press tour looks inspired the doll’s historical closet, giving side-by-side comparisons the head-to-toe looks on the doll and on Robbie. With designers’ sketches and insight into how Robbie and Mukamal made their sartorial choices, it makes for a gorgeous coffee table book.
Tumblr media
4. Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024)
Big things go smash! I stopped by KMOV to chat about the newest Godzilla/Kong team-up with Joshua Ray, which won’t send you away smarter but probably in a better mood. Watch the full review. Crowd: 9/10 // Critic: 4/10
youtube
5. SNL Round Up
I’m noticing my Saturday Night Live Round Ups are shorter this year, which is probably thanks to a greener cast. But I am always rooting for Studio 8H, and these three were worth re-watching and sharing in the text thread:
“Detectives” (4913 with Sydney Sweeney)
“Loud Table” (4913)
“Moulin Rouge” (4914 with Josh Brolin)
More March Crowd-Pleasers: Morgan Freeman, Keanu Reeves, and Rachel Weisz get caught up in a murder plot surrounding a new energy source in Chain Reaction (1996) // Before Zodiac, Kurt Russell was a Miami Journal reporter investigating a serial killer in The Mean Season (1985)
March Critic Picks
Tumblr media
1. Art in Bloom at the St. Louis Art Museum
Every spring SLAM invites floral artists to create arrangements inspired by pieces in the museum’s collection. As always, this event inspires me to look at works I’ve seen dozens of times in new ways, and I always discover flowers that make me wish my thumbs were more verdant.
Tumblr media
2. Dune: Part Two (2024)
Dune is weird, but I love that it hasn’t stopped it from sourcing an endless supply of memes. Even more, I love that a vision as grand as this one has taken root in pop culture, that a new crop of young actors are catapulting movie stardom into the next generation, and that this epic is as concerned with philosophy and the craft of filmmaking as much as blockbuster-style spectacle. Crowd: 8.5/10 // 9/10
Tumblr media
3. The Sixties (2014)
And now I’ve finally finished CNN’s decade miniseries. Though these series aren’t revolutionary—The Sixties episodes include “The War in Vietnam,” “The British Invasion,” and “The Space Race”—they provide more depth and insight than a Wikipedia article with plenty of interviews and primary source footage. (And perhaps too much insight with an 85-minute episode about the JFK assassination, which is steeped in more conspiracy theories than are worth mentioning.) Each of CNN's decade series has impressed me with the connections drawn to today, and The Sixties is no exception.
youtube
4. The 96th Oscars
It’s a treat when the consensus is that the Oscars ceremony was…good? It’s been a few years since that was the popular opinion! Not only were the winners a pretty solid selection, but most of the bits worked, most of the musical performances were solid, and it finished…early? These were my favorite moments during the brisk evening:
Past Best Supporting Actress winners celebrate this year’s nominees and winner, Da’Vine Joy Randolph
Past Best Supporting Actor winners celebrate this year’s nominees and winner, Robert Downey Jr.
Past Best Actor winners celebrate this year’s nominees and winner, Cillian Murphy
Past Best Actress winners celebrate this year’s nominees and winner, Emma Stone (even though I was rooting for Lily Gladstone)
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito rib Michael Keaton and present Best Visual Effects to the charming Godzilla Minus One crew
John Cena demonstrates the value of our Best Costume nominees
Kate McKinnon and America Ferrera present Best Documentary (though they’re not always sure which films are fact and which are fiction)
Ryan Gosling (and many more Kens) perform “I’m Just Ken”
“My eyes see Oppenheimer!!”
Tumblr media
5. The Power of Film (2024)
Onetime UCLA professor Howard Suber walks us through some of the most popular and memorable films in history in this new Turner Classic Movies miniseries. He explains why they’ve passed the test of time, analyzing storytelling motifs and themes like destiny, love, heroes vs. villains, and paradox. I’m still thinking about some of his insights (e.g. there are no good characters, only good character relationships), and I compiled the 275 films he uses as examples on in a Letterboxd list.
More March Critic Picks: A Letter to Three Wives (1949) is a light-on-its-feet melodrama about three women wondering which of their husbands is about to leave them // Naughty Marietta (1935) pulls off the princess-with-a-mistaken-identity rom-com trope with a dash of music // A Double Life (1947) is a killer thriller (pun intended) about the dangers of taking inspiration from Othello in real life // Before Mr. Deeds, Gary Cooper was a more earnest small town simpleton who stumbles into millions in Mr. Deeds Goes to Town (1936) // Susan Hayward more than earns her Oscar for her performance based on a semi-true story about a woman on death row in I Want to Live! (1958) // Spencer Tracy and Elizabeth Taylor didn’t make me cry like the remake does, but their relationship in Father of the Bride (1950) is still sweetly moving 70+ years later // Even if it didn’t star Rock Hudson and Lauren Bacall, Written on the Wind (1956) would still look phenomenal because it’s directed by Douglas Sirk, but thank goodness they both get to cook in his Technicolor vision
Also in March…
I chipped in on a ZekeFilm piece on the Oscar-nominated live action shorts with a paragraph about Wes Anderson’s “The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar”
I also reviewed the perfectly pleasant Kung Fu Panda 4 for ZekeFilm…
…and for KMOV, where I also made some Oscar predictions before the big night.

Interactive Storytelling: Engaging Audiences Across Multiple Platforms
The art of storytelling is an ancient practice that has been employed for the purposes of entertainment, education, and inspiration throughout history. Nevertheless, in the era of digital technologies, traditional book, movie, and TV show storytelling has been replaced by other forms. Now, storytellers have at their disposal a wide range of applications and media to design captivating and engaging presentations for their audiences.
What is Interactive Storytelling?
Interactive storytelling is a kind of storytelling that provides the audience with a means to control or take part in the story. The process can range from the simplest decisions to the feedback coming up to the more advanced branching narratives and co-creation. In the process of searching for interactive storytelling, you will travel from video games to podcasts, webcomics, chatbots, VR, AR, and others.
Interactive storytelling can offer many benefits for both storytellers and audiences, such as:
Engagement: The appeal of interactive storytelling is linked to its capability to raise the viewers’ interest, attention, and emotional connection, since they feel more empowered by their actions and decisions.
Personalization: Interactive storytelling gives an opportunity to tailor the story to the audience's tastes, preferences, and objectives. This gives each reader a custom-made narrative, which is thus more meaningful and engaging.
Creativity: Interactive storytelling helps the audience to create their possible feelings and thoughts because they are offered to fantasize about different consequences and probabilities. Sometimes they co-create the story by giving their own ideas and content.
Learning: This way, the audience can understand, learn, and comprehend the themes, morals, and message within the story and reflect on their own choices and actions in consequence of their participation in and interaction with the content.
How to Use Interactive Storytelling for Advertising?
Interactive storytelling is also a powerful tool for advertising. It is so because it can help brands build relationships with their customers, introduce their products or services, and change their behavior.
Here are some tips on how to use interactive storytelling for advertising:
Know your audience: Prior to creating an interactive story, you should do the research and define your target audience, their demographic and psychographic info, the pains the audience feels, and their goals. This will take you time to build a story that will resonate with them and be in line with your organization's beliefs and purpose.
Choose your platform: It is dependent on your budget, resources, and purposes to choose the most suitable platform and medium for your interactive story. For instance, if you wish for a large and varied community, you can consider it in the form of an online or mobile interactive story, like a chatbot, webcomic, or game. To make it more immersive and realistic, an interactive VR or AR story could be the solution, including a simulation, a tour, or a demo.
Design your story: Once you have chosen your platform, you should design your story with the following elements in mind:
Plot: The plot is the list of things that happen and are done by your characters in your story. Write a mounting plot that keeps the audience interested, creates uncertainty and mystery, and gives the story a good ending. Apart from this, you can also think of ways to add interactivity to your plot, like a pathway, choices, feedback, reward, and consequences.
Characters: The people or entities that exist or are shown in your story are the characters. Create characters that are likable and therefore make the audience understand them, identify with them, or envy them. You must also think about the ways you make your characters more interactive, like dialog, voice, gestures, expressions, and personality.
Setting: Setting is the time and place of the story in which your story takes place. Your creation of a sensory and enveloping setting will make the audience feel like they are in your story’s world, which will in turn help to create the mood and atmosphere of your story. Besides making your setting animated, you can also reflect on how to infuse interactivity, that is, sounds, visuals, objects, and actions.
Theme: The theme is the main idea or the overarching message or meaning behind your story. A good theme is one that is relevant, has an impact, and reflects the mission and vision; it communicates the value proposition and the unique selling point to the audience. In addition to this, you should also consider how you could make your theme interactive, for instance, through metaphors, symbols, questions, and challenges.
Test and optimize your story: Having created an interactive story of your own, it would be prudent to test and tweak your story for optimal results and performance. You need to gather and process data and user feedback (e.g., engagement, retention, satisfaction, conversion, and loyalty). Also, you must spot and cure any problems your story may have, for example, bugs, errors, typos, and inconsistencies.
Conclusion Interactive storytelling is a modern and innovative way of telling stories that can captivate and influence audiences across multiple platforms and media. By using interactive storytelling for advertising, you can create memorable and meaningful experiences for your customers, and showcase your brand's value and uniqueness. If you want to learn more about interactive storytelling and how to apply it to your advertising strategy, contact us today and let us help you create your own interactive story.

Rest in Peace, Chief
I just got word that a true legend, Phil Faini, passed away Wednesday, June 7. You can read about Phil’s illustrious career in this news release from West Virginia University. I’m going to tell you what Phil meant to me.
When I was attending Fairmont Senior High School, band was my favorite thing. Yes, I enjoyed marching band, but more than that, we had a percussion ensemble. This was a class that I and the rest of my fellow percussionists took. The rest of the band members took concert band, but concert band is relatively boring for percussionists. There’s not a lot for us to do. Our parts are relatively simple with a lot of rests, and most of the time is spent working the wind instruments. Not all high schools have percussion ensembles, but my band director, Barry Vingle, was a percussionist. He received his Master’s degree at West Virginia University in 1976 where he learned from Phil Faini.
One of my close high school friends, Todd Caldwell, invited me to attend a WVU Percussion Ensemble concert, and I was mesmerized. It wasn’t just a concert—it was a tour de force of music, african dance, and theatrical presentation. The staging and lighting were as impactful as the performance. The theater was packed. I returned year after year, never missing a concert and purchasing the recordings on cassette. I’ve digitized those and cherish them. Phil Faini knew how to put on a show, and his enthusiasm was infectious. I told myself that one day, I was going to perform in one of those concerts.
My high school percussion ensemble played several pieces that Phil Faini composed or arranged. We played his arrangement of El Cumbanchero—probably my favorite piece to play on marimba—his arrangement of Sleigh Ride, and his composition Highlife. We were learning Highlife my junior year, and Mr. Vingle invited Phil Faini to work with us for a day, and then direct us in the concert. It was an amazing experience, and I remember Phil telling the audience afterward that we performed the piece better than a lot of college ensembles.
The summer after my junior year, I was accepted into the prestigious Governor’s Honors Academy for which I stayed at WVU for a month with the top students from every county in the state. It was a life-forming experience. It’s where I met my wife. It’s where I got to learn from Phil Faini every day in a world percussion class where we played African drums and steel drums. He introduced us to Ellie Manette, the inventor of the steel drum. Like his college students, we came to call Phil “Chief,” an honorific he picked up from his study of African percussion. During my senior year, all of us GHA students were invited to perform with the WVU percussion ensemble, Percussion 90, at The Greenbrier, a luxurious resort in southern WV. These experiences cemented my desire to attend WVU.
And so I did. Now, I wasn’t a music major, but I joined the Mountaineer Marching Band where I continued to learn from the masters students that I got to know during GHA. Then Phil Faini became Dean of the College of Creative Arts, and my Graphic Design class interacted with him as we designed a new logo for the school. Oh, and remember the goal I had set for myself years before? When I reached my senior year of college, I decided I had some room in my schedule and signed up for the freshman percussion ensemble. I took that class in the fall semester knowing that come December, I would be part of the WVU Percussion Concert. I performed one piece with the freshman ensemble—a comical piece where we all started playing a line of snares and eventually moved to a base drum in the center that we circled in a little rhythmic game, leaving the drum when we were “out”—and then performed in the finale, which was inspired by STOMP! Phil Faini’s concerts always had a finale that brought all of the various ensembles together for a big finish. Life goal achieved.
Then I went on with my life. I graduated, got married, went on to grad school, and started a career. The concert that I performed in was the last WVU percussion concert I attended while Phil Faini was at the school. When my daughter became a percussionist, I decided to take her to a concert to show her what a percussion ensemble was. I was disappointed. It was a small concert, poorly attended. There was no flair, no drama. Phil Faini was retired, and apparently the current faculty didn’t have his vision or energy. But there was a little old man sitting two rows in front of us. I made a point to approach him after the concert. I re-introduced myself—he didn’t remember me—and then I introduced my daughter. He smiled and nodded and said something polite. I didn’t expect him to remember me, but I felt compelled to let him see just a little bit of the legacy he passed down.
Now I play drums every week in a worship band, and my daughter is in college studying music therapy.
Thank you, Chief.
I encourage you to take some time to watch this video. It’s the only one I could find on YouTube. This is Phil Faini and Percussion 90 in their prime. This performance was in 92, the same year I graduated high school. My percussion instructor from my senior year, Dave Ross, and my drum line instructors from college, Jamie Eckert, and Rob Sigler, are all performing.

The shine on a crocodile bag — corresponding to the example proven above — surpasses something that might be crafted in leather-based. One of the reasons Louis Vuitton has so many followers is the home makes pieces which may be highly functional. Thoughtful design and sturdy supplies are the hallmarks of a Louis Vuitton bag. Within 2003, the stores in Moscow, Russia, and in New Delhi, India have been opened, the Utah and Suhali leather strains were released, and the twentieth anniversary of the LV Cup was held.
