#our flag means death #ofmdblog1k #ofmdedit #stede bonnet #ed teach #blackbeard #edits #oc #* #rolls up to this event three days late with starbucks #this is the first scene i ever giffed from this show and it was because it was my 'this is happening' moment for them #everything up to this point i felt could be written off as comedic (the stabbing and even the almost-kiss) #or platonic even if it was incredibly charged (the bathtub scene just before this) #but when they kept cutting back to ed's face during the sword fight something clicked like 'oh. oh my god ed is actually in love with him.' #it wasn't being played for laughs and i wasn't just seeing things #so it's a weird choice but it truly was that moment for me #props to taika for looking like the most besotted and horniest man i've ever seen in my life in the last gif bc that really cinched it #gentlebeard
