happy passover to all who observe and a quick lesson for those who have no idea what the fuck i'm talking about
passover is a remembrance of the exodus from egypt, way back in the good ol' days when israelites built pyramids and scientifically impossible fire was a religious occurrence in addition to being cool. this occurred in the book of Exodus, hence the name. essentially, after both moses and god bullied the ruler of egypt into letting all of the israelites go, some frogs and natural disasters and family member murder (but not for the israelites; death "passed over" their homes, hence the name) later, they packed up what little shit they had, brought their unrisen bread dough along, and skedaddled through a nice little hole running right through the middle of a sea, where even more miracles occurred to thwart the indecisive ruler's desires to get his cheap labor back. because the dough had not risen, when it was baked, it became history's worst crackers, and because jews love our historic food, we eat this terrible cracker as our only form of bread or bread product for one whole week, along w/ a couple other symbolic foods.
hope this helps anyone who is curious and hope you have a great day & week :]

So I can't say much about other practices, which makes sense because I don't practice other practices -- I am a Kemetic Pagan at heart. But with the months moving on and the Nile Seasons changing, I do want to give everyone a gentle reminder.
There's still so much that we don't know and haven't recovered from Kemet. Yes festivals happened, but their dates are not super concrete. There were thousands of holidays and festivals that were held in Kemet, and thus there are thousands of such we can bring into our modern day world. However it would be a stretch to say we have any definitive calendar.
What I'm trying to get at here is when it comes to religious holidays and days of spiritual importance, do what feels right. For me I have an entire Kemetic Calendar mapped out based around the modern day 'Nile Flood' holiday, and from there I have a couple minor and major holidays in my calendar that I feel hold significance to me. The people who live with me agree and say they also feel good about it, and as such this is what we do.
Their placement is based off of what I felt was right, not what the ancients did. I feel like we all, as a community, need to stop hanging onto this concept of 'purity'. I feel as though what sets aside most non-mainstream beliefs is this idea that society evolves and changes over time, and therefore our beliefs follow suit. It is one of the many key factors that make many pagan beliefs so fascinating and powerful. (obviously not all pagan beliefs -- pagan being just a very vague umbrella term that I may define more later down the line)
If a festival or holiday does not feel right to you, it's okay to change it. Now I'm not saying celebrate the spring equinox on the autumn equinox, that defeats the purpose of those holidays, but in most holidays the dates aren't what is important. Moreover don't feel like you have to follow old traditions, make your own. It's okay. You're not a bad practitioner for doing so. Bringing in the old is alright, but the reason that holidays like Christmas and Halloween are so beloved is that they take older traditions into the modern day and reinvent them as well as adding more traditions alongside it. Take some liberties with it, so long as your heart is in the right place then you're doing good.
Just always remember, don't take away others autonomy. Anyways that's all, have a wonderful day everyone, and remember to have fun. Have many blessed festivals!

I might have developed PMDD this German winter, which is surreal. It's watching your body do things that make absolutely make no sense and knowing they make absolutely no sense and you can't stop it.

Wohooo! The holiday season is upon us and you all know what that means...
Holiday fics!
Last year I launched this idea of a writing advent calendar and it's coming back this year as well. I'm going be doing it (and maybe going insane in the process) and I hope people join in. I actually mapped out what I am going to be writing for each day in advance this year, given that I have more school in December and will be busier than last year. What I have planned this far is little bit of continuations for the stories of last year's calendar and then we're gonna tap into some next gen content as well, since that area has been unlocked with me and my writing during the past year. Anyways, I am excited to see where we go, I already have written a few ahead of time for days I know I'll be busy. I hope people join. The calendar is going to be published on Friday.
Then I have my dedicated Holiday fic. I call it specifically Holiday fic, since it's not necessary about Christmas, like the way my last year's Christmas fic was: (Christmas is the time for joy and unexpected events). It's more about the winter holidays during and after Christmas time, and the events happen more around the New Years, but there obviously will be Christmassy stuff in there.
It will be a multi chapter story and takes us the furthest on my expanded canon timeline we have gone this far, excluding the Next Gen fic, so some personal life changes may or may not be happening to certain characters are they keep getting further into their adult lives. It will Star Gastina, Lutteo and Simbat who will go on... should we say an adventure of a frosty sort.
The story will be called: A homeland this north, country dear fathers!
It's a english translation of a lyric from our Finnish national anthem: Kotimaa tää pohjoinen, maa kallis isien!
That may or may not be a hint about what will be happening in the fic, but we'll see...
I'm actually really happy how that story turned out. I actually wrote it during the August and September of this year, so it has been sitting in the vault for a while now.
Let the Holidays begin!!

It’s that time of year again where no-contact children start getting harassed by their families relentlessly. So, a gentle reminder for those who may need it:

Hii! First of all, I love your stories and especially “Even the thorns have roses”!
Second of all, how do you get the inspiration to write so much? I am currently making my way through your ao3 catalogue (and thoroughly enjoying myself) and it’s so many fics?!
Happy holidays!
Thank you! I'm glad you've been enjoying Even The Thorns Have Roses. And though you didn't ask, I'll tell you now that none of my WIPs have been shelved permanently and they'll all be finished eventually (unless I literally die before I can finish them).
I've been debating how to answer your question about inspiration in a way that doesn't sound completely insane but I can't. I'm addicted to dreaming - both sleeping dreams and wakeful dreams - and writing is like daydreaming except it gives your hands something to do.
