She felt sick.

Half because of the thought that Shiro might not return, half because that feeling existed within her body and made her feel uneasy. And clearly, her body language had been transparent enough to be captured by Cayde. Maxima throws him a glance, a silent accusation that he should dare to air such thoughts in a place where anyone might hear them.

It felt wrong that one that had kept her safe for so long should be thought to be dead. Especially one like Shiro, like Cayde one might say. It was wrong and perhaps Cayde did not understand it for the nature of exos - she still remembered very clearly when Shiro when training her in how to shoot demanded that she shoot him instead of the target and how she had hated that.

To live in a space where death was always one step away and always cloaked in the shadows should only be bestowed upon those that are willing to follow down that path.

   "Do not presume to know my feelings, Cayde-6." she finally says, sniffing softly as she turns around towards her desk once more "I have a job for you, if you are willing to take it."
