“I dunno, it...doesn’t sound so bad,” Randall shrugged affably, admitting, “I-I’ve never done it before, like I said, but it doesn’t so bad to me. Maybe in practice I’d be restless too, but in theory...it sort of sounds nice.”
Again, perhaps him having never done it before contributed to his interest in the concept: He was so used to being on the move, doing something, that the idea of doing nothing for a change sounded refreshing. Here at the opera house, he was constantly busy: When he wasn’t tutoring Emily or watching rehearsals, he was either writing messages to the managers or working on his Don Juan, and he seldom took breaks in between, other than to perhaps eat a little something. It was a busy life, and although he enjoyed it, he liked the sound of lazing about in bed all day, just...relaxing. He supposed he could say he used to not do anything once upon a time, but since he had to sit in a cage all day and be jeered it, it certainly wasn’t the same.
That being said, he could completely understand Emily’s own frustration: She was a woman that did not sit idly by for anything: She was always on her feet, whether it was to practice her dancing or her singing, and he respected that about her. She was full of life and song and energy, and it was one of the many, many reasons that he adored her so much.
“D-Did you spend a lot of days in bed when you were younger?” he ventured to ask. “W-Were you ill a lot?”
