decided AU!Peter gets glasses again in his early 20s after years of powering through vision problems brought on by increased light sensitivity + retaining some mild myopia post-spiderbite.

early on is simple. he thrifts some vintage frames and gets photochromic lenses (aka generic Transitions) put in. specifically the darker ones, so his lenses are always a little gray even inside.

(and now i need to edit some fics again) (lol)

the real question I'm asking myself now is what color lenses he has later, when he gets FF coverage in 2015; considering a lightly tinted minty blue-green in low light which turns a deep grayish green-black in bright sunlight (essentially green-gray transitions on top of a blue base) (also polarized) —

on the one hand, just get polarized sunglasses or clip-ons separately from a pair of regular non-tinted glasses, but on the other hand, as the saying goes: he'd lose his head if it wasn't attached to his neck.

but idk if he'd be willing to wear lovely jade-lensed glasses everywhere lmao — he's not kaine, after all!

#reasoning: polarization to counteract glare and lessen halation (only applies when lenses are dark) #blue-green to help balance contrast and color clarity and lighten shadows slightly when polarized + filter out some reds #tint in general to reduce the amount of light entering his eyes (though that also mostly only applies when lenses are dark tbh... hm) #came in through the window last night #assume that in this universe someone has essentially invented transitions xtractive polarized lenses 5 years earlier than irl #(xtractive is a dumb name btw. you're telling me it's pronounced “extra active” but all i see is “extractive”) #ben also has these problems but i've decided he just wears regular crappy $15 sunglasses inside #kaine also wears sunglasses inside but kaine wears $400 sunglasses and is also partially blind lol #plus for a while there he is basically living in his pink tarantula mask which probably helps block some light out #anyway contacts seems less than ideal because of the fact that his night vision is significantly clearer than his daylight vision #and having to keep track of something that small which he also has to keep clean is like............ idk about that....
