The last two books I read were both first-person POV adult fiction novels and I found the main characters so BORING their heads felt so empty meanwhile the book I'm reading now is a third-person POV and the main character is absolutely off the wall

#please feel free to ignore this #I'm reading Funny Girl #It takes place in 1964 and she misses watching I Love Lucy on TV after moving to London so she's decided to be someone's mistress #because she figures this is the quickest way to get access to a TV on Sundays (when ILL airs) #She accidentally met her new 'gentleman friend's' friend's wife and decided she would lie about being a mistress #and instead pretended that her 'gentleman friend's' WIFE was the mistress and she was okay with it #and then she left #Extremely funny and totally unnecessary #Anyway my point is I feel like first-person POV adult novel main characters don't think/worry about enough things #I know you're never going to perfectly capture the inside of someone's head on a page #but like idk neither Clay nor Monique particularly interested me they felt like empty vessels for the actions of the story #and maybe part of it was neither was like the real protag of the story but idk
