GET TO KNOW LUKAS:
1. Where do you prefer to read? On the sofa, in bed, at a table, on the porch, in a cafe, or somewhere else? Where and why?
I can read just about wherever so long as I’m comfortable, and most likely isolated. I tend to focus better when I’m not pried upon or being distracted, so when it’s most quiet is when I find the inspiration to delve into novelties.
2. What’s your food weakness? What food can you never turn down?
My relationship with food is an interesting one. If the food is made by my mother, I certainly can’t turn anything down. However, I have a liking toward grilled cheese with mayo and smoke paprika, again a specialty made by my mother.
3. Do you prefer movies or TV shows? Why? And what are your favorites?
I’m not too fond of either, however tv shows like Law and Order and Suits intrigue me if it so happens to be on at the given time. I’m finicky with shows, however as far as movies go, action such as Mission Impossible and Casino Royale are favourites of mine.
4. What sort of toys did you play with as a child?
I never really had toys around growing up, although the only “toy” I remember with clarity is the jump rope my father would use. It breeds eternal misery every time I happen to think about it too much.
5. Do you eat breakfast? What’s a typical breakfast look like for you?
Usually a normal morning includes two large cups of coffee, cream, sugar and a dash of vanilla. If I’m famished I like to make a spinach and goat cheese omelette, and if I’m truly rushed, a bowl of any cereal I can find is good enough for me. Breakfast isn’t necessarily my favourite meal.
6. Do you like going to museums? If so, what type of museums do you like to go to? Art, science, historical; interactive, quiet, a mix?
I love going to museums. Art is the most exquisite form of imitation and sometimes staring at a piece of work for so long makes impressions on you you’d never expected to think of until it’s all you can see.
7. Have you ever had an imaginary friend? If so, tell us about them.
I didn’t have an imaginary friend, per say, but I do have an alter ego I liked to run away with for a little while. I don’t have a name for him, but it’s usual that he comes out most when I’m provoked during intercourse or am unwilling to go much further. He’s my go-between. My confidence build up when I have none to spare.
8. Do you know how to use chopsticks?
Sushi is not what I prefer to eat, but I’ve had the pleasure of using chopstick before. However, my skills in that department are very slim.
9. What do you do when you can’t sleep?
I never sleep, during the night anyway. But if I’m unable to sleep, I tend to enjoy cooking -- not for my own enjoyment, but as a stress reliever --, a glass of wine usually helps, and if I’m exhausted but am having trouble falling asleep, I’ll take half a sleeping pill.
10. Did you have a good childhood? What are fond memories you have of it? What’s a bad memory?
Some moments were great, other moments were decent, and the others were pretty much lackluster, to say the least. All in all, my childhood was fine. But it was my past, and to me that’s all it’ll ever be.
11. What is your relationship with your parents? What’s a good and bad memory with them? Who is your favorite?
My mother is my best friend. Most times she gets too overwhelming, but she’s always been here and she’s my solid rock. My sperm donor is just that -- that’s all he’s ever going to be to me.
12. Do you have any siblings? What’re their names? What is your relationship with them? Has your relationship changed since you were kids?
I have one beautiful hermanita. Her name is Grace and we’ve always been tight-lipped to each other. Since I’m the older brother I kind of took on the protective role, even though we’re only eighteen months apart. I’m not sure if during my sperm donor’s escapades he has any more innocent children that came from that, but for now it’s just me and Grace.
13. Did you have pets as a child? Do you have pets as an adult? Do you like animals?
I don’t think I ever did. I’d love to have animals one day. I’ve always thought about what it’d be like to have a small dog that loves you unconditionally. It’s always a thought, but who knows if I’ll ever go through with the idea.
14. What’s your full name? Why was that chosen? Does it mean anything?
Lukas Julio Petrona. Lukas comes from my maternal grandfather’s middle name from Brasil, and Julio is just a name my parents both liked and ended up using it. I don’t care what you call me. Lukas, Luke, Luka, Lu, any variation is fine.
15. Do you like children? Do children like you? Do you have or want any children?
This is a question that is still currently pending for me. I do love children. Their blank canvas and perspective on the world around them with their purity is just captivating. There’s nothing like holding a peace of heaven in your hands and believing anything could be as perfect as that. As for having my own one day, it’s possible. But not a priority.
16. What’s your sexuality? What do you find attractive — physically and mentally? What do you like/need in a relationship?
I don’t pull toward any labels. If I find a person attractive, they’re attractive. I love a beautiful mind, and physicality is just a bonus. In the past I have been forced to like more males, however I tend to find women incredibly gorgeous. No matter what, all I need in a relationship is patience. Lots and lots of patience. I’m a lot to swallow at once, so taking individual bites is necessary.
17. Who/What would you sacrifice everything for?
My mother and sister, of course.
18. Who is the most important person in your life and why? What would you do for that person? Would you ever give them up?
The above answer. They’re my life raft every time I so need them. There’s nothing in this world I’d trade for them. My wish is to give them the best possible life, no matter what I have to do. Because they deserve it, every single bit of it.
19. What type of discipline were you subjected to at home? Strict? Lenient? Other?
It depends on which home, really. My mother was never one to be strict on either one of us. My sperm donor on the other hand was quite the opposite. He didn’t care for out well being, nor did he seem to show us any love at all.
20. What were you like at school? Did you enjoy it? Did you finish? What subjects did you enjoy? Which did you hate?
I was average. I loved learning English, it was a chance for me to become inherently coherent in the main language I knew I would have to be expected to know. I finished with a degree from UA and that was easily the best time of my entire life. I’m using it to become an investor and hopefully mold into other sister companies, but for now it’s pretty solid.
