Visited: October 10th- October 15th 2023
Later in the Month, I went to Morrocco for almost a week! This trip was most definitely an adventure trip. Morocco is home to the largest hot desert in the world which is the Sahara Desert. It is a country that is part of western North Africa. It was the center of Berber Islamic kingdoms that included much of Spain and North Africa. France established control over Morrocco in 1912 and then granted it independence in 1956. Morocco borders Algeria to the east and southeast. It is the only country in Africa with coastlines on both the Atlantic and Mediterranean. While in Morroco the main cities we visited were Fés and the Sahara desert. The first day we spent going to the Medina which is a place in the city with a bunch of markets and we specifically visited, the leathery, the pharmacy, the carpet shop, and a fabric store. Bargaining is part of the culture and it is rude to not try and bargain from the original price. That was an experience and I was able to bargain for a leather belt and some pants while I was there for a good deal. The pharmacy was cool and I was able to get some authentic Moroccan tea, ph lipstick, cactus cream, soap, and their famous Moroccan lip tint. We also had a typical Moroccan lunch of couscous, bread, and vegetables. Then we traveled to the Sahara Desert and were there for two nights! We traveled by jeep into the desert and were able to see the beautiful sunset. The camp we stayed at was just tents in the middle of the desert and very off the grid. The stars were insane as there was no light pollution but the night was frigid. There was also a night show of classic barber music and that was fun to dance around and hear the drums. The next day was our big excursion into the desert day. I woke up at the crack of dawn for sunrise which blew me away and after breakfast, we got onto camels and went to a dune where many went sand surfing and we all just enjoyed one another. Then we ventured into the old town and had a pool party as a break and cool down. After our long day, we headed back to camp for more Moroccan lunch. Later that day I went on a jeep tour and was able to see a mining site with fossils and then where Algeria was from a high top point. Then we found a dune and watched our last sunset. The following day we just were traveling and heading home. This trip is definitely at the top of my list and was something I can not even describe and I hope to someday be able to go back to the desert. The people and place exceeded my expectations and even had me take a new way of life realizing how beautiful life can be. The pictures of the landscape and places were taken by me and all other photos of me were taken by Laura Josler, Michael Lee, or Courtney Stephenson from October 10 to October 15 2023.

What to See in Global Village Dubai
Global Village is an annual event hosted by Dubai. It starts around October and ends in April, just before the temperature soars and the climate in the desert city becomes unbearable. Global Village Dubai happens in one of the busiest areas in the city, i.e., on Sheikh Zayed Road. It is a leisure and entertainment avenue like no other. Be it shopping, dining, entertainment, or fun, you will find it in this extravagant event, which is being held for the 28th year in 2023. You must visit Global Village in Dubai during the winter and spring seasons. You will have to visit a few times to see everything the place has to offer. Here are the attractions and things to do in Global Village Dubai.
Tumblr media
The Pavilions
The pavilions lie at the heart of Global Village Dubai. There are around 27 pavilions that represent almost 90 countries around the world. Each of the pavilions will have stores and eateries that represent the countries. You can go around the pavilions to see local goods, handicrafts, and foods belonging to the country. So, you do not have to visit Iran to buy its premium saffron, India for its exotic spices, Pakistan for its beautiful textiles, Morocco for its Argan oil, or Persia for its exquisite carpets. You can shop for all these and more at these Global Village Dubai pavilions.
Tumblr media
Moreover, each pavilion offers authentic cuisines of the country it represents. But these pavilions are not just a space for the countries to showcase their products and food. But the pavilions are also a platform to display their culture and heritage. The entrance of the pavilions showcases the architecture of the country. You will also get to experience the vibe of the countries while exploring the pavilions.
The MENA Pavilion, Asia Pavilion, Europe Pavilion, Africa Pavilion, and The Americas Pavilion are a few of the pavilions you must check out.
Entertainment Programs
Shopping and eating need not be your only agenda to visit Global Village Dubai. The place hosts more than 40,000 dynamic shows. You will find interesting events and shows here every day. One Global Village Dubai show that needs special mention is the stunt show. The Cyber City Stunt Show is not for the faint-hearted and contains incredible actions and stunts that will leave you in awe. Some of the shows may not be included with the Global Village Dubai tickets. You will have to buy them separately.
Carnaval
Tumblr media
Global Village Dubai is a complete entertainment package. Apart from thousands of shopping and dining avenues, you will also find an amusement park here. Named Carnaval, this zone has numerous arcade games and thrilling rides, just like in a theme park. The rides can be categorized into thrill, kiddie, and family. Thai Twist, Transylvania Towers, Miami Surf, Cuban Dance, Mexican Balloons, Fly France, Vroom UAE, Sydney Kangaroo, Global Burj, Spania Boat, etc., are some must-try rides here. Then, there are more than 125 arcade games where you can show off your skills and win interesting prizes. You can enjoy some unique experiences here as well. You can explore the House of Fear, try your hand at golf at Mini Golf, and enjoy a shooting game with your friends. Little ones will have fun at the Diggers Lab and Neon Galaxy Adventure Park.
Mini World
Mini World in Global Village Dubai is exactly what it stands for. It is the true embodiment of the name ‘Global Village.' You will find miniature versions of the most popular historical and architectural marvels of the world at Mini World. The place has models of almost 25 iconic landmarks in the world, including Paris’ Eiffel Tower, India’s Taj Mahal, Cairo’s Sphinx, Rome’s Colosseum, Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, Abu Dhabi’s Grand Mosque, New York’s Statue of Liberty, and much more. This zone also has food kiosks and food trucks that serve delicacies from the countries where these landmarks belong.
Ripley’s Believe It or Not
Tumblr media
Ripley’s Believe It or Not is a unique, interactive museum where the exhibits range from odd to bizarre. You will find galleries and exhibits with artifacts and art that will leave you in awe. You will have a fun time engaging with the interactive exhibits here. You will also get to take some cool pictures of your visit. Human Oddities, Tribal Jungle, Warehouse, Chamber of Horrors, Heroes Gallery, Space Gallery, and Ripley’s American and Arabian are some of the must-see galleries here. Then there is Ripley’s Marvelous Mirror Maze. Adorned with mirrored panels, twisting walls, and colorful lights, the Mirror Maze is challenging and the perfect place to take some incredible selfies.
Another thing to see at Global Village Dubai is the fireworks. The place is known for some mesmerizing fireworks. Usually, these happen on the opening and closing days and every weekend. You will also see fireworks on special days like UAE Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Eve.
