Trees, trees and more trees, the inspiration comes from my many adventures. So many emotions have I experienced in the woods. Early childhood play was in Midgey wood, amongst the bluebells in top park, and hunting for conkers in Castle Park. Then as a successful orienteer I travelled all over the country competing. Sometimes there was disappointment and frustration and there were injuries. But there was also exhilaration, joy and freedom. To be alone in nature with only the sound of birds and your own breathing and come upon a clearing with golden bracken lit up by the early morning sun or to see the shafts of light peeping through the canopy is truly spiritual. I believe in the healing power of trees. Walking or running in the woods, building dens and camps that was the stuff of adventures. #natalieburns #acrylic #trees #panorama #natalieburns.co.uk #thegirlwholovestrees #treehugger #art #talentedartist #Cherrydidi

8/01/17 So I’ve been painting today with my acrylics. Feels like ages since I was dabbing away with my sea sponge. Spent half an hour putting together my play list. Searched for songs with love in the title and saved three hours worth of tunes ready to sing along to. I have this theory that if I sing along to the lyrics and keep my thinking brain occupied then I will loosen up and paint more instinctively and not over think it all too much. However today’s efforts have turned out to be very dark apart from this one which is quite light and bright. I was painting on top of old paintings and wonder if that was a factor in why the paint dried much darker. Anybody want to guess the titles of my tunes? #natalieburns #trees #thegirlwholovestrees #art #talentedartist #Cherrydidi #painting

I've been busy with my Derwent Graphik Pens lately doing two commissions. One is of Saddleback (Blencathra) and one is of a row of cottages in Little Langdale. These will be printed and signed and numbered 1/1. Do you have a favourite view you'd like me to draw with Graphik Pens? The print would be exclusive or I'd do a limited run of greetings cards if you would like.
This is my latest design, Friar's Crag, Derwentwater with the lovely Catbells across the lake. These are at the printers and  will be available at Cherrydidi soon as cards and as A3 prints.
Please visit my website natalieburns.co.uk and sign up for my monthly newsletter or send me a message with details of your favourite view.

Well the month is nearly over and Spring is officially here even though we still have snow on some of our tops. I've been busy preparing my art work for Eskdale Art Show in St Bega's school in May. I've sent in my entry form and have eight pieces framed and ready. This year I'm also entering large prints and some cards. If you get the chance to go to this art show then please do because it is tremendous...loads of original art both 2D and 3D. It is on the bank holiday weekend at the end of May. I've also framed a painting for a special exhibition at Carlisle Cathedral in the Fratry. This exhibition will be running from mid April to end June. I continue to sell in Cherrydidi in Keswick, a treasure trove of gifts and art, well worth a visit. I've also had my first online sales both in UK and abroad. My Graphik prints are travelling all over the world thanks to the Lake District being loved by so many people. I've been experimenting recently with pigmented inks on watercolour paper and the results look great. So far I've been painting trees but I'm going to paint foxes soon. I collect foxes and have postcards, greetings cards and models in different media and want to add my own interpretation of my favourite animal soon. I'm going to paint some of my beloved daisy paintings again soon. My favourite flower reminds me of innocence and childhood. I've been busy with my graphik pens adding some new views outside Cumbria that I have visited...Stonehenge, Lindisfarne castle and the famous tree along Hadrian's Wall at Sycamore gap. Please email me with your suggestions for places you'd like me to paint.  I'm busy on a commission of Blencathra too. If you have a favourite Lake District view please email and I'll see what I can do. You could email me a favourite photo if you like and I'll sketch it with Graphik pens. If it's suitable for production in my card and print range you'll receive a free card and print of it. I'm taking a much needed break shortly. Hope to see you soon at one of my sales. Next one is April 8th at Gosforth Village Hall. Natalie
