DCLM Daily Manna 4 March 2024 TOPIC: Fulfil Your Ministry TEXT: LUKE 4:33-44  33 And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice, 34 Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God. 35 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not. 36 And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out. 37 And the fame of him went out into every place of the country round about. 38 And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon's house. And Simon's wife's mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her. 39 And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them. 40 Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them. 41 And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ. 42 And when it was day, he departed and went into a desert place: and the people sought him, and came unto him, and stayed him, that he should not depart from them. 43 And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent. 44 And he preached in the synagogues of Galilee. KEY VERSE  “And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent” (Luke 4:43). DCLM Daily Manna 4 March 2024 MESSAGE An American hero, Timothy Stackpole, was among the first to reach Ground Zero after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack on World Trade Centre, New York. He led a team that ran into the second tower to rescue victims after it was struck. When he did, it collapsed and took his life. He knew his calling - to save people. The story of Stackpole, moving and inspiring as it is cannot be compared with the eternally- rewarding service we have signed up to as believers. Irrespective of the attendant danger that we might face, we must always remember that we have been called to a life of service and like a true soldier depicted in the song, “It pays to serve Jesus,” we must be willing to die at our post. READ DCLM Daily Manna Sunday 3 March 2024 – Go Again Seven Times The exemplary life and ministry of Christ as narrated in our passage shows His total devotion and absolute commitment to healing and deliverance ministry. His exploits in casting out devils and healing the sick spread like wild fire. Soon, the surrounding villages brought their sick to Him and He healed them all. As His popularity grew, the people want

DCLM Daily Manna Devotional - Don’t Tempt The Lord
The Topic of Deeper Life Daily Manna Devotional for 17th January 2024 Is “ Don’t Tempt The Lord“
Text:   Matthew 4:1-11 (KJV) 1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. 2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred. 3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. 4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. 5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, 6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. 7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. 8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; 9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. 10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. 11 Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him. KEY VERSE: Matthew 4:7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God
DAILY MANNA FOR TODAY
Bartel Elshout in ‘the Banners of Truth’, listed three ways one can tempt God. One, by challenging Him; two, by putting Him on trial; three, by subjecting Him to one’s way of thinking. The writer went further to say, “To challenge God means to deliberately and consciously defy God and His revealed will, summarised in His holy law. To challenge God is to knowingly and consciously deviate from the pathway of God’s commandments”. Satan, in today’s passage, came to tempt Jesus. He initiated this attempt against the Lord to make Him deviate from God’s plan and purpose for His life. Here, Satan attempted to put to test God’s attributes – His knowledge, will, power and wisdom. God cannot be tempted; He knows all things right from the beginning to the end. His wisdom is without limitation. Although he tried several times, Jesus never yielded. When we doubt God’s love and mercy, and fail to realise how much He cares for us, when we disregard His grace and deliberately do what is evil, we are tempting the Lord. Anytime we go against God’s revealed truth, it is tantamount to disagreeing with His terms; this is tempting the Lord. You must learn to appreciate who God is. He may allow some crises in your life; it is not to destroy you but to know how far you can depend on Him in the face of adversities. There may be no immediate employment after graduation or child after marriage. Yet, you must not tempt God by complaining. If you will believe and trust Him most sincerely, He will bring the best out of your most trying situations. THOUGHT FOR THE DAY We are called to trust God, not tempt Him. He founded the Peoples Temple, a quasi-Christian commune in Jonestown, Guyana, where he often told his followers that they would all die and live happily together hereafter. In November 1978, fearing government attack on the settlement after its members had killed an American congressman, Jones ordered a mass murder-suicide. 909 died, including 304 children. Jones shot himself dead. Jim Jones was such an evil man, “who seeketh only rebellion” and the “cruel messenger” of death was sent to him. We have the list of such men in our reading today: those who mock the poor, the wicked liar given to pride, unforgiving friends, fools, companions of those who reject wisdom, as well as contentious people. They are contrasted with the godly who are quiet and meek servants, disciples enriched with “excellent speech”, who have acknowledged and forsaken their sins. The book of Proverbs is given to us to learn how to order our ways, not according to what pleases us but as it pleases the Creator. Jim Jones path seemed perfect to him; but it was perilous, plunging him and several hundreds to untimely deaths and eternal perdition. In the age closer than ever to the return of Jesus Christ, there will be intense teaching of false religion intended to deceive the credulous. Only the inerrant word of God – The Bible” can subdue them, guide and steer a person away from evil and destructive doctrines. Heaven-seeking believers must put in every effort to check the surge of fake religionists and prophets. DCLM Daily Manna 20 December 2022 — Not Puffed Up By Success
TOPIC: Not Puffed Up By Success (DCLM Daily Manna 20 December 2022)
TEXT: John 13:1-15 (KJV)
1 Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.
2 And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray him;
3 Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;
4 He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.
5 After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.
6 Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?
7 Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.
8 Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.
9 Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.
10 Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all.
11 For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean.
12 So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you?
13 Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.
14 If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet.
15 For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.
KEY VERSE: “He… took a towel, and girded himself. After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded” (John 13:4, 5)
DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:
Success changes people’s lifestyle. Once there is a change in one’s status financially, politically or socially, a change in the person’s lifestyle and behaviour follows immediately. The person begins to change his appearance, carriage, conduct, duties and even associates. It is common to find those who have become elevated by success to begin to distance and detach themselves from their former associates. Those who were once their friends, co-workers, etc., can no longer have access to them let alone serve them. They have become puffed up by success.
Our passage brings us to Jesus’ last days on earth. Knowing that He is God, has all things in His possession and was soon to return to heaven, He did the most astonishing thing never done by those who have sensed success close or have tasted a bit of it. He decided to do a duty reserved only for slaves and servants by washing the feet of His disciples. This appears most demeaning and below His status that Peter initially protested against having his feet washed by Him. But Jesus had a strong message to teach. He was acknowledged as Lord and Master but still washed His followers’ feet. This was a powerful and very striking lesson in humility. They were not to allow any position they may attain in life to stop them from rendering service to one another.
How we need to learn the lesson afresh today! It is sad to see how many people allow the little success they have attained create a gulf between them and those with whom they once associated. That you have a new job, got promoted at work, had a major breakthrough in business or have risen in ranks in the church or society should not make you abandon those with whom you once rubbed shoulders.
Remember, “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall” (Proverbs 16:18).
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
We must stoop very low if we wish to reach very high.

DCLM DAILY MANNA DEVOTIONAL
TOPIC: FEAR GOD, HONOUR ALL MEN
TEXT: Titus 2:9-15
9. Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again;
10. Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.
11. For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
12. Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
13. Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
14. Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
15. These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.
KEY VERSE: “Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again.” – (Titus 2:9)
DCLM Daily Manna MESSAGE:
The Christian life is not expressed only during church services, but must be displayed wherever we are and in whatever venture we are engaged in. The life of the believer should stand out as a beacon of good and exemplary conduct, either as an employer or employee, as part of his service to God.
The early church had a good mix of masters and servants. At various times, Apostle Paul explained that God was interested in the way each conducted himself or herself. In the text, Paul urged Titus to admonish employees to obey laid down rules by their employers, to show respect to their bosses, not to be unruly or corrupt, but to show fidelity at work and present themselves as those that “adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.”
DCLM Daily Manna
Their lives must show that they have been transformed by the grace of God. They must, therefore, shun every ungodly conduct, worldly lust and live righteously “in this present world”. Above all, they must be purged from sin and remain purified as they look for “that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus”.
Though people can disappoint and even betray the trust placed on them because they are unregenerate, Christian employees should stand out and always be at their best at work. Our dedication, hard work and trustworthiness must not be questioned; nor should we engage in eye service, but work faithfully even when our employers are not watching, or when we believe we are not being treated fairly. This is the will of God for us, because ultimately, God is the Rewarder of every good and faithful service.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Advertise God in your conduct.
