so i watched that kipo wonderbeasts show this weekend and i feel like it succeeded in places where avatar: the last airbender failed

#honestly don't ask me to elaborate because i haven't seen a:tla since i was in 8th grade #but having participated in some discussions about the areas where a:tla fell short in its messaging #i feel like kipo succeeded in some of those places... however i'm really not a fan of hugo's fate #there were still things i think i had issues with #if i were creating this show for children and had the chance to do it all over again i'd have adjustments worth suggesting #but for the most part it was an interesting show #idk why they needed to make kipo pink when she's canonically blaisian though... #like sorry but it kinda falls into the 'asian people are like aliens' trope to me and i wish they would've given her a more human skintone
