☕️ not sure if it counts as a topic, but I'm curious to hear your thoughts on Tagon x Taealha in general (love them? mediocre about them? they are a mess?)
Oh yes! Thank you for the question, that’s a great topic = D Short answer: I love them.
I’m going to put the rest under a cut because a friend of mine is currently watching it for the first time and I don’t want to spoil her (however, I’ll be honest and admit that I’m shit at remembering plot details anyway but still. krystal don’t read this)
So yeah, I love them??????????? Honestly, OTP with a capital O. I love love love love them, and it’s strange because I wouldn’t necessarily be into them on paper. The “two terrible people love each other” is a lovely trope, it is, but I usually lean toward “one terrible person loves an amazing one and it’s angsty” (aka, villain x hero or similar dynamics. it’s just a preference.)
But with them, it works, and I am so into it? It helps that Tagon and Taealha are more than antagonists. They have sympathetic traits, and honestly, their romance is one of their respective redeeming qualities as far as I’m concerned. Taealha’s ongoing journey re: breaking free of her father, her being torn between protecting herself and wanting to protect him too... God, I can’t remember the exact wording, but that scene where they promise not to sacrifice themselves for each other, to look out for their own interests always and then they struggle to do that forever, but the fact that they also trust each other to survive? That just gets me. It’s so good
It also helps that Tagon is clearly, obviously, painfully in love with Taealha. That scene in episode... 2, I think, where she walks in and he faints or something? Iconic and relatable. I love a man whose veins are filled with loving my wife juice, and Tagon is the epitome of that. He’s so in love??? I can’t???
I can’t think of anything I don’t like about them tbh. I mean, yeah, they’re a mess, but they’re a thoroughly enjoyable one. I don’t expect things to end well for either of them, as far as the show’s direction. They’re not the heroes. I’m fully prepared for one of them or both to die, and you know, I’m okay with that, as long as they are fiercely in love to the end. (I don’t remember the exact events of the finale because I have a shit memory, but I do remember Tagon doing something that put them at odds, and that was UPSETTING, but I can’t wait to see where the angst takes them.) I would happily watch them do their thing forever.
So yeah, um. I love them a lot. Favorite ship on the show hands down
