alastor moody vs. evan rosier
When Tom Riddle received word of Auror Isaiah Moody's involvement in solving the Riddle Massacre, he sent Abraxas Malfoy, and a newer Death Eater, Evangeline Rosier, to hinder the investigation. Unable to locate Isaiah, Abraxas and Evangeline instead attacked Isaiah's heavily pregnant wife, Hester, who, if she hadn't been an Auror herself, would've never survived.
Alastor Moody was prematurely born at St. Mungo's following the savage assault, and all of Isaiah's efforts were turned on exacting vengeance on those responsible. Malfoy went into hiding, but Isaiah, ruthless, managed to hunt down Rosier. She died under questioning, setting in motion a vicious cycle of vengeance between the Moodys and Rosiers.
Gaspard, enraged by the death of his beloved sister, slew Isaiah, earning himself the Dementor's Kiss, and leaving his wife and son, Evan (named for Evangeline), to suffer his prolonged consequence.
It had almost been expected of them, Alastor and Evan, to loathe each other. Written in their blood, in the spilled blood of those that came before them. It came as no surprise that blood would spill once more by their hands. An eye for an eye, was that not the credo?
It ended as the war did, not with a bang, but a whimper. An eye for an eye.
